"Great pieces of clothing in great condition. "
"I’ve purchased purses, clothes, and shoes and I love every item "
"I have enjoyed shopping for myself and my 2 sons through ThredUp. I love that I can select the condition of the clothing and accessories, along with size, brand, etc. Also, free shipping when I spend a certain amount, and free returns! I get many compliments on my outfits from ThredUp. Definitely a fan."
"Excellent selection, prices and quality. Have been shopping here exclusively for a couple of years and am always thrilled with my experience. "
"ThredUp accepted 26 items from my polka dot bag and my total pay-out was $26 bucks total, that's $1 per an item. These were expensive, name brand, barely worn (some new) items. Bag #23BN-HNNFJ - it you sell to ThredUp, just know you're giving your clothes away. I will never sell to this company again. Jenni M"
"I love the Austin Domain store and I love the staff but I do not care for the Chief Marketing Officer, Anthony Marino. He sent me this lovely note after I sent a bag of clothes and shoes. I then in turn sent him a follow-up note, see below, sharing my experience, which was not good; rarely worn kate spade and brooks brother shoes simply disappeared from the bag. As of this date I have written Anthony Marino FIVE emails which have all gone ignored.
Hi there,
Thanks for sending your first green polka-dot clean-out bag to thredUP! We are very excited that you took the time to fill up your bag and give us a try.
I am writing to make sure that you are happy with your thredUP experience.
We know that as a new customer you have taken a chance on sending your items to us. We want you to feel great about your choice, and give you every opportunity to tell us if you were not pleased with your experience.
When I first used thredUP not long ago, I was so happy with the experience that I joined the company as head of marketing. Now that I'm here, the team and I are relentless about making sure that every one of our customers has an experience as positive as the one I had. We feel good when you are happy!
So, please, share your genuine feedback with me. Good, bad, scary--I can handle it! I read every one of these emails. I am not a robot; I am real!
If you have a specific question about your Clean Out Bag payout, or a technical matter that you need help with, please email ****@****. They will dig right in and get you a speedy response.
All the best and thank you,
Anthony S. Marino, Chief Marketing Officer
Thank you for the follow-up.
I do have a few concerns:
- the amounts received for the items that were purchases were extremely low
- the consignment amounts are a bit better but still under market
- there were several shoes that were barely used, Kate Spade and Brooks Brothers that I would expect to receive money for
- there were two suits in the bag, it appears that all went on consignment except one of the suit jackets- odd
Looking forward to your resolution and response."
"I ordered a 5x and received a medium. Now I have to deal with sending it back to the company that I no longer trust and getting store credit or losing 9 dollars on a 15 dollar item, let alone the hassle of returning the item."
"It takes forever to get a bag, and once it processes you’re lucky if you make a dollar. I will be donating my clothes to a good cause from now on. I’m in shock :("
"I have to admit that I probably wont sell to Thredup going forward simply due to the low return after shipping costs, their cut etc. However, I love purchasing items from here. I've only had to return one item, which they refunded. They are pretty clear in the descriptions of the items if there is any sign of wear as well as precise measurements. If you have a specific question about an item that you can't tell from the post, just copy the item # and ask on their customer service chat. They were very helpful - found the exact item and answered my questions about it. I have had other very helpful experiences with their customer service as well. Huge selection and ever-changing inventory - love it!
One thing to be aware of, is that they do not have Amazon-turnaround times for mailing your order. It usually takes a few days for your order to be processed and then a few days in the mail. Not a problem if you're aware, but could be if you need an item for a specific event. So just know that going in."
"thredUP's site was organized, easy to use, and wow, there was a lot of stuff to choose from. My order took a while to get, about a week, but the quality was quite good and the value was great. I will be ordering again when I get the money!"
"I was very picky putting my bag together. All designer names 90% with tags.... even a Versace skirt with tag $280, Ralph Lauren dress with tag $299. I had about 30 items. I was excited for them to get my bag. I got a whopper of $24.48. The Versace skirt was not even on the list and was in the “donated” pile. So your telling my they will take a cheap Aeropostale tank but not a Versace skirt. Feels stolen to me. I’m furious."
"Ordered gray denim jeans; they turned out to be velour corduroy NOT denim
Ordered a lace dress; turned out to be shapeless burned out velvet NOT lace
Skirt I ordered was OK
Return shipping cost was almost as much as the two items I would return.
So I will give the useless items away. The descriptions were very misleading; you would think a clothing company could identify fabrics like denim and lace.
This was my first order and my last"
"Television improper language. I had not seen your commercial but my son and I were offended by what we heard. Cursing is not necessary! Shame on those exposing children to such language. Would you allow your kids to repeat the word damn in 1st, 3rd, 5th grade. I would never buy your products or tell others. If it's ok in your home I'm sad for your reasoning. Who was in charge of the idea should be fired. Just because laws have been passed allowing such language doesn't mean you should. Policing shows is a burden enough for parents but adding commercials for clothing to the list of things to censor is very frustrating. Do you not have employees with an imagination. Make the commercial funny and I will remember your store. Insult my intelligence and expose youth to more bad language I will definitely not promote your store to anyone."
"I ordered from thredup on the 4th. They didn't ship until the 8th. Ok, 3-5 days to ship. I was supposed to receive the box on the 14th. When the 14th came it changed to the 15th. Now it's the 15th and the date changed again to the 20th. Absolutely ridiculous. I received a part of my order, 3 things out of 25, and everything looks junky, smells bad, and looks nothing like the photos. Already preparing the return box. Also on the commercials before and after placing the order, it claimed 40% off 1st order. Was only offered 30% on the site. Should have known then this wasn't going to be a quality experience. Will never order from thredup again."
"Unless $0.32 is meaningful to you (on something you probably paid $75 for), literally do ANYTHING ELSE with your clothing (donate, Craigslist, mom's FB groups, Tradesy, burn it in the fireplace) rather than give it to Thredup. They sell high quality stuff (not just Gap) for $5 and take 90% commission. I suppose you can buy stuff from them since they sell it for dirt cheap. But presumably they will run out of items to sell when NO ONE sends them anything other than Old Navy garbage. So they can become the penny-store for Old Navy crap I suppose. "
