"I ordered a 60GB WD hard drive from them. The drive arrived 2 days later, which was very nice. Very prompt delivery. The drive was just a bare bones drive, which is what I ordered.
I noticed that where the IDE cable plugs in, part of the plastic of the casing had been broken off, but was still attached due to the sticker. That's ok, as long as the drive worked.
I installed Windows 2000, and had it running for a day. This morning, the computer wasn't responding. I reboot, and got an NTLDR error during POST. I went to the BIOS to see the drive, and it was no longer detected!
I have decided to RMA the drive with Western Digital instead of Upgrade Solution. WD offers advanced RMA and I believe I will get a better quality drive from WD than from Upgrade Solution."
"Comments posted on ResellerRatings prompted my placement of an order with Upgrade-Solution.com; aside from the price of the article needed. Their web site is easy to navigate and the ordering process was rather painless. Their LOUD final statement, on the final checkout invoice.cfm, concerning calls placed to them to check order status or for emergencies, is a bit crass. But, I might be suffering from exposure to sensitivity training. They do provide a means to send Feedback; though that's no guarantee of a return response. If my experience with them goes west (i.e., left, sour, down the drain) I'll certainly update; though I expect a positive outcome and positive comments to follow in any case."
"Ordered a 30 gb MDT 7200 rpm drive... had some problems matching up the billing address with my credit card, but was handled promptly and professionally via email. Order was shipped same day as billed, and received 4 days later (shipping from Anaheim to Toledo). Drive works beautifully. Would do business with them again!"
"Ordered 60 GB MAXTOR ATA/133 7200RPM Hard drive for $76.00 (+$5.79 for UPS ground) on Tuesday the 7th at Noon, got a ship notice from UPS that night with a delivery date of Friday the 10th, 3 Days!
Drive arrived as promised well packed, order was for a friend but he has installed it and hasn't complained so I guess it's working fine.
Will order from the again if I need a HD fast and cheap!"
"I am very happy with my transaction. I ordered a 60 gb WD (labeled as MDT, no problem), and after a month or two it went bad. It was easy to contact customer support on the phone and by email, and they RMAed it quickly and professionally. I had to pay for shipping there, but they paid for shipping back, a deal I would do ANY time. OVERALL: very sastified."
"Ordered a 10GB harddrive and a 20GB harddrive. They shipped quickly, arrived quickly, and work just fine. I'd do buisness with Upgrade Solution again."
"This company delivers as promised. I ordered two 40G 7200 RPM hard drives and received them quickly. "
"Ordered a 40GB hard drive an received in advertised condition in acceptable time frame. No invoice was sent with the shipment, but the product was there. Overall good experience, may need another hard drive soon and will look their way."
"Their drives are nothing but junks. I ordered a 30 gig mdt and it only lasted 5 months. I got a replacement that looked like it's a refurb. That lasted not even two months. Worthless craps.
UPDATE: (06-12-03) The drive started working again. What the hell? I ran the wd diagnostics and it returned code 0210 (not repairable) but I kept at it with scandisk. After many attempts it started acting normal(no bad sectors?) I'm still not going to trust this drive.
UPDATE: (06-14-03) The drive quit working again. Clearly a piece of crap."
"I order online and everything went smooth. I ordered 40 GB 7200 RPM, 8.9 ms, 2 MB BUFFER. (WD OEM, WHITE LABEL DRIVES BY M.D.T.). It arrived and there was not label that it was a western digital drive ?? but it works fine."
"My experience with this company started off bad. But ended good. It started with my order of a 40gb 7200rpm hard drive. Well about 4 days later i receive the hard drive, only to find out it is ia 5400rpm. So i call them up, and it is very very hard to understand them, but once you figure out what they're saying they are not too bad to work with. They originally wanted me to ship the 5400 rpm back and they would send me the 7200. Well my client did not have time for that, so i called them back and asked them to cross ship it out to me. They charged my account 60 dollars and told me that they would refund my money + shipping costs when they received the 5400rpm back. Sure enough 4 days later i received the 7200 and shipped the other hard drive back, and they just recently credited my account for 60 dollars plus the price it took to ship the hdd back. Overall i am satisfied with these guys, they just need to pay attention to little details like a 5400 and a 7200."
"Worst experience ever. I ordered one 512MB PC2100 ECC Registered Infineon memory module from them, it didn't work. Not a big deal I thought. Should be easy to return once I email them and tell them whats happened. I emailed them the situation and they didnt email me back after a few days so I called them. Heres where the first bad omen was. The guy who picked up had the worst english I had ever heard. I had to say "pardon" 4-5 times before I understood him. I couldnt tell if he was Chinese or Indian. Rude and clueless as hell too. I explained the situation how his ram wouldnt work in any computer I tried but some generic POS one did. Then he started telling me that its registered thats why it wouldn't work. Now he said this without even knowing what my motherboard is mind you. So then I had to explain to him that my mobo prefers ECC registered (MSI K7D MasterL). Then it becomes my motherboards fault that it only takes unbuffered. I had to explain it to him again. This is the point where I really start to lose it. I tell him he's going to overnight me a working module to rectify the situation. He tells me that thats not how it works and if I want any more memory I have to order more then have to RMA it. No problem as long as he sends me another module at no cost to me. I could hear him snicker at that point. So now I'm starting to raise my voice a lot. We go through the whole situation again. Then he asks me if I'm using it for a workstation or a server. Since I said server he said thats my problem. And this point I demanded to speak to his boss. He handed the phone off to some woman (who's accent was just as heavy expect had more practicing saying hello correctly). I told her what was happening but she was just as incompetent as her fresh off the boat husband. Same thing happened. I asked her for her name. After she said it several times because I kept saying "pardon?" I pleaded for her to spell it out. It turned out her name is A-N-A. Then I told her I'm going to file a complaint with the FTC and State Attorney's Office. At that point she got scared then I hung up.
