"I placed an order for an in stock item on 20 December (£199.99). By 4 January the item still had not been dispatched so I decided to cancel the order. A reply came back offering express deliver and a free memory card but I declined this offer on 5 January. On 14 January I checked my credit card and still no refund so followed up with a further email. Had a response saying they would process refund as a priority. Guess what 21 January and still no refund. I'm now following this up through the online payment vehicle, Skrill and my credit card company. £200 down for over a month now - not impressed at all. "Ordered a Nokia 1520 11-Dec-13.
Chased them after a week and they said they would expedite my order. I think the Valuebasket meaning of expedite is do absolutely "nothing". From the 18-Dec-13 I checked my order daily and chased them up. Granted they were always polite via email and on the phone but you do just get the impression they are lying to you and fobbing you off.
By 23rd December I realised the phone was not going to arrive for Christmas so I rang and cancelled the order. They verbally confirmed that the order was cancelled and advised I would have my refund in 3-5 days. I was disappointed but not deeply aggrieved.
Before I could even put the phone down I miraculously received emails from valuebasket replying to my previous emails. The lady assured me she hadn't just send them but again I didn't believe her.
On 30-DEC-13 I received an email to say that they had shipped the phone! I rang them and they gave no reasonable explanation why they had shipped the item, but insisted the refund would not now be processed and I would have to wait until they got the phone back in the UK returns department. They advised me to refuse delivery. DPD tried to deliver the order on 2-JAN-13 and I refused the delivery.
I tracked the parcel back to valuebasket and it made it back to the the UK returns department on 4-JAN-13. I contacted them and they said they could not refund the money to me until returns had confirmed they had the phone back. I checked daily that they had got the phone back and each day they said no but I would get my refund as soon as they confirmed they had it back. On 15-JAN-14 they emailed to say they had it back but could not make a refund until the phone arrived back in Hong Kong mania warehouse.
It seems each time they set a target they then get there, then change the goal posts. How long it will take to get back to Hong Kong I can only guess but this companies anta seems to be, lie, cheat to keep your money as long as possible, if not forever?
Do not go near them. Going to lodge a section 75 claim with my credit card company today.

DAY 39 - Jan 19th. Still no word from Value basket about whether the phone has made it back to Hong Kong. Think they maybe walking it back overland and taking in stop overs in major European capitals en route. Tried to ring them today but they don't work weekends so no luck there. Will try to ring and email tomorrow.
Day 40 - Jan 20th 2014. Tried ringing them today but after 25 minutes on hold gave up and sent this via email.

Day 41. No response to yesterday's email so I rang them. Actually got through fairly swiftly. The lady is spoke to could not tell me any reasons why I hadn't got the original verbally agreed refund, or why the item had been posted out to me, or why I had been told refund would be done when returns UK got it back. Her current status is "Logistics have confirmed the parcel is in transit to the main warehouse". She could not quantify how long this would take but did say she would escalate my concerns to management, though she could neither put me through to them or contact them herself as she only has an email address????
Just one thought about the whole thing and this 3 year warranty they offer, I'm thinking perhaps they do that as it takes them that long to ship an item? On the flip side would I ever use it, imagine sending an item back for repair or a refund, I think that would be a risky and time consuming endeavour.
Day 42. Well they have stalled again with the usual email response.

Well its 30January14 and I finally got a result. Sadly not from ValueBasket as the phone still appears to be on the slow boat to China. My credit card company have made the refund to me and will persue ValueBasket for the money. I think I can safely say I woo Denver use ValueBasket ever again even if they offered free beer, with a cash incentive and a 100 year warranty on my life expectancy. What a shower!

"I found ValueBasket unfortunately by chance when browsing the net. I placed an order for a Christmas present for my Son on Dec 1st 2013. My account page continued to say order processing weeks later. But my money had been debited straight away from my account! I email them 4-5 times asking when it would be dispatched. "BEWARE SCAM SITE- I have waited nearly 4 months for my refund. I purchased Sonos equipment worth several thousand dollars. The next contact from them was that there would be a delay in delivery as 1item was out of stock. I felt uneasy so went on line and read reviews complaining of problems so I cancelled the order and requested a refund.
