"Sent me an email that the order was shipped so I can't cancel. They then tell me the order is backordered, but the website might say "In Stock". Then they where supposedly getting in my item today, but when I called they didn't have any idea when my item was in stock. Checked my credit card and they had already charged me and they don't even have the item to send me. In short, online scammers."
"ZipZoomFly provides excellent service. Orders are proecessed speedingly and shipping is cheap for express delivery."
"Puchased the clear acrylic case and assumed everything would be fine. None of the panels (except for the back) were cut at all. They all had flat surfaces. I went to RMA for a full refund and carefully read the return policy. They state there will be a restocking fee, but do not specifically say anything about defective items. They refused to give me a full refund because of their vague policy!
edit: I was contacted today (5/25/06) about my rating. Hopefully I will be credited for my defective case. I was a bit wary when the gentlemen told me to revise my review, and I replied I will revise it once I am credited.
edit2 (6/1/06): They refunded me for the purchase for the case and not for the shipping, which I expected. Seems I expected a bit more than what they thought. Ahh well, this is still 1 unhappy (former) customer."
"price was good,, service-shipping was excellent,,ordered on monday recieved on thursday,, "
"They have great prices and fast shipping. I have made several purchases from zipzoomfly.com and they have never let me down. "
"1 day after I ordered, I went from being Processed, Packed and then Shipped status. When I went to track the shipment, I had a bogus tracking number. I called ZipZoomFly.com to see if someone made a mistake. They told me the product was out of stock and would be available the following week. If this was the case, why did their website say it was in stock, why was the website showing my order was being packed, and why did it show it was shipped? Now all of a sudden the same printer is 35 dollars more. I wonder if this was the reason they said it was out of stock. BTW - My credit card was charged for this out-of-stock purchase."
"Very fast shipment and very reasonable price. Highly recommended for buyer....."
"Extremely dissatisfied with this company’s service and deceptive practices. I’m a long time internet/mail-order shopper, and will add these guys to my “don’t buy here” list. Here is my experience:
1) Purchased a high-end inkjet printer from this site. Primary motivator was free shipping. Due to the size of the printer, free shipping represented a fair cost savings. In addition, while I had never shopped here before, a look around showed the site to be “legit” (I’ve been burned before). Their previous association with Google helped convince me.
2) Received an order number on the site and a confirmation e-mail. I noted in the order status description that once an order was “packed”, it could not be cancelled. A little harsh, but fair enough I suppose. Also, my money was nearly immediately deducted from PayPal. Again, fair enough, but most places charge when they ship, so they are being pretty hard-nosed.
3) A couple of days later, an e-mail was sent saying the item was shipped, and giving a FedEx tracking number. I tried tracking the package, and the tracking number showed up as invalid. I have seen previous cases where it takes a little while to get into the shippers database, so I was unconcerned.
4) After about a week of waiting (I was busy on other things, but eventually started wondering “where is my printer?”), I e-mailed their customer service, describing the incident with the tracking number and wanting to check the shipment status.
5) A couple of days later, I received a response stating that the item was on backorder, and thanks for shopping with them! I was provided with a long-distance (non-toll free) number I could call for further information.
6) Now getting closer to the need date for the printer (I thought I had allowed plenty of time), I called the number, thinking at this point that they had misread my original e-mail, as my printer was shipped already. Maybe they were out of stock now.
7) Finally reached someone (they keep banker’s hours in a timezone outside of mine). They confirmed that the item was on indefinite “out of stock” status, and were unapologetic about the bogus shipping and tracking information, saying that “sometimes the system does that”. I cancelled the order, and their response was that I should see my money refunded in 3-5 days.
8) I checked their website and the printer showed up as STILL IN STOCK! I guess “sometimes” the system does that too…
9) Within the 3-5 day window, they refunded my money to PayPal. I’m certainly glad of that (they aren’t complete scammers), but they held my money for weeks, and intentionally lied about shipping the printer as well as luring others by lying that it was still in stock. They were unapologetic and only made any response at all after I contacted them at my cost.
In conclusion, this site is more about saying anything to get your money and preventing you from trading with more honest vendors. Pay a few bucks extra and get your goods from somebody else. At least you may actually get something for your money."
"ZipZoomFly always has good service in my opinion. Their prices are consistantly lower and they often offer free shipping on their items. This is a great company to buy from."
"They rock, the same as and equal to Newegg. When one doesn't have something in stock go to the other. Half the stuff on zzf is lower priced than newegg half the stuff on newegg is lower priced than zzf. so I shop on both simultaneously and just add the items to the cart in each store who has the better price, including shipping. Tehy both have excellent cust. serv. and supper fast shipping."
"My second purchase from ZipZoomFly and it is again very pleasent experience. However one think for little complain. It was not possible to pay with credit card:
- directly (due to some Verified by Visa which did not worked properly)
- via Paypal using creadit card - verification went fine but final oder confirmation failed every time due to some script error on ZipZoomFly webpage.
But this is not critical, so I will shop again because prices are atractive and service is reliable."
"Love the site. Very often your prices can't be beat. Love the no nonsense free shipping. My only suggestion is more detailed product specs and space for customer reviews of each product. They also have a ton of products marked out of stock mixed in with the normal products. You'll see a good deal and the product will of course be out of stock. Kind of annoying/confusing."
"Great Service and Excellent Pricing! Wide Selection of hardware to choose from! I highly recommend ZipZoomFly!"
" I've had nothing but good experiences with this company.
For most products the shipping is free, fast and if I ever had a problem it was resolved immediately.
Can't get better than that."
"Edited 18 May 2006 (see bottom of post)
----
I used to be a loyal customer of ZipZoomFly (or Newegg), but my recent shopping experience has tainted my view, and I don't think I'll shop there again.
---
In March of 2006 I ordered the OEM NEC-3550A DVDRW from ZZF. In only 2 months, the drive stopped recognizing CDROMs...it wouldn't read ANY CDROM, but it would still read DVDs. A full system format did not help this.
I contacted NEC about the problem, and they specifically stated they do NOT DO WARRANTY WORK on OEM drives. They only do work on retail drives (the retail kits have a Service Tag on them).
I emailed ZZF about this problem, and all they repeatedly responded with is "Look at our web page, it says NEC does the service so it must be true."
I ping-ponged between NEC and ZZF a few times, telling each respective company what the other was saying.
Right now I still have a broken, 2-month-old NEC drive on my desk and I'm out of about $50.
I'm not sure who's fault it is, but I'm never buying from ZZF again.
Edit 18 May 2006 -- ZipZoomFly contacted me about my service woes and offered an RMA for the drive.
Though I'm unhappy I had to deal with this in the *first* place, at least someone decided to handle it in a professional manner. For that I'm thankful.
While I'm still hesitant to buy an online OEM product (from anyone), I think I was probably too harsh stating I'll "never purchase from ZZF again". I think I'll just stick to retail products the next time I purchase from ZZF. I would like to thank ZZF for clarifying the issue.
