"Ordered a hard drive that turned out to be defective. They charged for return shipping and a 15% restocking fee. Contacted them directly and through BBB regarding this issue and was told to take a hike ...
What kind of business do the run? I would call charging restocking fees for defective merchandise fraud ... "
"Ordered Asus 1000HE and 2GB of RAM in the evening. Shipped the next day, delivered when scheduled. Packaged fine (better than many other orders I have received from other very large eRetailers). Would order again from ZipZoomFly. No issues that others reported (shipping address verification) although my shipping/billing address were the same. No interaction with customer service -- but didn't have any need to."
"As a first time customer of ZZF I was pleasantly
surprised, not only by their low prices, but by
their speed, courtesy and professionalism. My order arrived as promised (Asus Eee PC 1000HE)in perfect condition.
I will not hesitate to place future orders with ZZF."
"The best price, fast service and a good website."
"I have been a long time customer of Zipzoomfly and have placed a number of orders with them. On my last order I needed to return an item for compatibility issues with another item. Through email customer service, I was given a couple of options on how to return the product. The customer service representative treated me fairly and was willing to work with me on the return. After reading some of the negative experiences of others, I was concerned I would have an issue returning the product. I was delighted that my experience was smooth and hassle free. "
"I was scouring the internet for a netbook and stumbled upon zipzoomfly. They were running a sale on the model I wanted for a price far lower than other retailers. I did my research, and found a significant amount of negative reviews as of late on resellerratings. I hesitantly decided to go ahead for it, in the end it would save me $50 compared to newegg or other places. I couldn’t have made a bigger mistake.
I placed my order on a Saturday, and after seeing a promise that it usually ships in 24 hours, I expected it to go out by the end of the day Monday or early afternoon Tuesday. The one thing ZipZoomFly fails to disclose is that they need to “verify” your shipping address. They verify the address by contacting the phone number you provide, not the billing number listed on your credit card account. This does nothing to prevent fraud, it just delays the order from shipping. It took 2 business days for them to even call to verify the address, which the lady I spoke to seemed rather rude and annoyed. The netbook didn’t ship until the end of business day 3.
The free shipping service took 7 days to get here. Most other retailers offer 2-3 day for free. When the netbook did arrive, it was packaged rather poorly. It was thrown in a box not much bigger than the netbook itself with peanuts shoved on top. The bottom of the netbook box had no protection.
If you’re looking for a deal and are in no particular rush to get it, don’t mind a long unnecessary shipping verification, and don’t really care how well your electronics are packaged, zipzoomfly for you. Otherwise I would STRONGLY suggest spending the extra money and going with a more reliable store with better customer service.

"Mar 22
I ordered a ASUS 1000HE netbook hoping to get it in time to use it before school lets out as I am a student studying IT.
Mar 24-
They called and e-mailed saying they needed to verify information. If they trusted their website they wouldn't need this process as many well known retailers do not do this. They should see it only delays the process and makes customers unhappy.
March 28
I noticed that they had a promotion on this netbook with memory for only $10 more. I decided not to bother as it had already been shipped.
April 1
I had been tracking the package and knew it was supposed to be delivered on this day. I made sure that someone was even home. I got home and asked did it come? they said no. I checked Fedex site to see the status and it said Delivered Left at front door. Signature Service not requested.
I checked around and made sure it was no where. I checked with neighbors. I checked with my landlord. No one had seen it. I called Fedex they told me that they would contact the driver and have someone call me back. I got a call back and they said he left it at the door. I was somewhat furious. It makes no sense that zipzoomfly would not require signature and makes even less sense that Fedex would just leave a package at the door in a heavily populated area where it is obviously not secured. While talking to Fedex they told me to call the shipper and they would file the claims process. I called zipzoomfly and they responded that it would take 4-5 weeks for the claims process. I asked if I could get the memory for the discount they were offering on March 28th, because of the issues. She said no. I asked if I could receive any discount for this. She said no. I told her I thought 4-5 weeks was a little ridiculous.
April 2
Fedex contacted me again to see if the package had showed up. While on the phone I asked if she could tell me the status of the claim. She said the shipper has not filled one. I was assured by the person at zipzoomfly that it would be filed on the same day. I called zipzoomfly again and asked had they filed the claim. They said yes of course, I explained about Fedex and what they stated and obviously a well reputable business like Fedex would have no reason to lie. The lady at Fedex even said most retailers in this situation go ahead and ship a new item and just wait for their money from them whenever the process is complete. I asked about this and the manager their supervisor Michael responded they would not do this. He was very very rude. He said I would just have to wait. After all this I explained that I would be reporting them for this.
He said fine.
April 8
I called Fedex to check on the status of the claim again to see if it had been filed. They informed me it was filed on April 4th. She also informed me that they only take 7 days to issue a claim. Which is obviously far off from what zipzoomfly claimed. My main concern now is that even after all this will I ever get a laptop? will it still be worth what I paid as the price of technology drops constantly? I obviously won't get it in time to use for class."
"My son recommended ZipZoomFly. Their 15% restocking fee and return for repair or replacement policy gives me a sick feeling in my gut. Hate to have to wait for a couple months for repair of a new item I had ordered. I just don't like their return policy and I have only returned two items online in 8 years for being defective. "
"Ordered Assus eee pc 1000HE on Sunday and received very early AM on Friday. I appreciated the call from their shipping department confirming my address the day it shipped as I had never bought from them before. The price was awesome! I have been looking for a long time. The product was well packed. This is a wonderful computer. I will always check ZZF first for all my electron needs."
"I live in Northern California and some orders I placed at night arrived the following afternoon on my doorstep. I never had to deal with customer service so I'm not sure how it is like to deal with them. Every order I placed arrived earlier than expected and I never had any problems with rebates through ZipZoomFly. I only buy stuff here when the price is very competitive and free shipping is offered because CA residents have to add sales tax."
"After more than 20 orders with ZipZoomFly I've come to the conclusion these people are just horrible to deal with and two face hypocrits, they take a long time to ship and if you call for any reason they are very rude, unless you have placed your order through their store front on eBay in which case they will ship extremely quickly and will go through great lengths to make you happy. Just for that alone if they ever have good deal on something I will place all of my orders with them through eBay..."
"I ordered an Asus Eee PC 1000HE and 2gb ram from ZZF on 3/27/09 and paid for 2 day delivery. The item would not go out the same day and I was told the order would ship Monday, 3/30/09. Of course I would have liked same day shipping, but no big deal; consideration given it was roughly noon when I placed the order and ZZF's policy. I received prompt emails about processing and shipping notices. All handled well and a decent price. The product arrived in fine order with suitable packaging.
Things that are concerning - When I placed the order, after paying for the item, and confirming payment, my bank declined the payment. I called my bank, sorted out the issue, and reordered. Curiosity struck me and I called seeking the reason my bank declined the payment (all I did earlier was confirm my purchase). My bank informed me that it was due to a calculated fraud risk measured by their software, and flagged the purchase. Further inquiry lead my bank to state issues may have arisen with ZZF and the bank’s customer’s purchases, and with enough risk, possible fraudulent purchases are flagged (I also likely raised my individual fraud risk by making several $500-600 purchases through various out-of-state businesses the same day so this occurrence may not be related to ZZF specifically at all and just be some canned response from my bank).
After I confirmed payment, I was bombarded with pop-ups with my information to obtain $10 discounts... but be billed $12 or so monthly.
ZZF took the liberty of signing me up for bi-weekly emails despite me never knowingly agreeing to any to my knowledge (I always decline any soliciting emails).
After I placed my order, I received a call, later in the day/evening, to confirm my address. Well it was late enough in the day I was at a bar, a sports bar, but with low ambient noise. Well, I'm sure some background noise was probably receivable on their end, but ZZF's representative was rather rude about the issue that there was any noise. And the sentiment I received from ZZF was I should have known why they were calling (to confirm my address) and that essentially any noise (about as loud as dinner at Friday's) was rude.
Then I received a nice, informative email about shipment of my order. In the email, I read they are doing drawing for prizes contingent on writing reviews here. This seems close to purchasing reviews, because I would guess negative reviews probably never win the prize offered and thus gives incentive to write positive reviews. Overall these concerns have left me a little uneasy about their business practices."
"Purchased a Asus eee netbook from zzf on 2/20. First one I recieved was defective, so I got a rma# and sent it back. When I recieved the replacement, it was packaged badly and was also defective. I notified zzf of the package condition and the defective netbook. I was told that the packaging condition didnt matter and that I had already had a rma and they would not allow me to exchange or return it, and if I wanted anything done about it, I would have to contact Asus for service. Asus did give me a rma and provided prompt and good service. ZZF would do well to learn from them. Last time I do buisness with them. "
"Ordered on Saturday, item arrived on Tuesday as advertised. Great price and free shipping."
"Speedy service, packing was adequate, would not hesitate to order from them again."
