"I placed my order for the Nikon D70 Outift Kit the night of the 4th this month. I was then told to confirm my order by calling in and talking to a high pressure sales man which I was prepared for so I dodged all of his tacktics. He said the camera used a special MMK card that you can only get from them and which one I wanted and I told him I didnt want it. He also asked if I wanted a battery to power the camera and I said no.

To make a long story short that was it and then I called back to confirm when it would ship. He said the one with the battery will ship tomorrow but yours will ship Monday. I said alright and that was it.

I just now checked the status of the order online and it's saying its BACKORDERD! Oh god..... I will call in tomorrow and see what they say about this since Paul told me Monday and I paid for Next DaY air Shipping so I would have it Tuesday.

I also am going to make sure I am getting a USA version and not some Import.

Stay tuned guys....

UPDATE: January 16th 2005.... I got NO CAMERA. I called up to cancel my order as of yesterday. I asked for a confirmation cancelation number and he hung up on me. HORRIBLE SERVICE! Either way if it's not canceled I will dispute it with my credit card company even though he did say it was canceled.

"This was the WORST customer service I have EVER dealt with. First, they neglect to tell you that you are purchasing an import item with NO USA warranty...but you can purchase a warranty for 50 bucks! Then they tell you that item you ordered is backordered...but for another $40 bucks, we can sell ya one w/ a charger! Then, they offer free shipping but if you read the fine print, they can actually go back and charge you this when your order arrives. I found all of this out when I tried to verify my order (after I left 3 messages that went unreturned). They were RUDE and ARROGANT...BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!"

"After placing my order online I received this message:

I called the number, they tried to persuade me to change my order, telling that the camera I purchased was not the best. I did not change the order, then they trick my to buy an additional battery, telling me that the battery that come with the camera last a dozen shots. I bought the additional battery, plus a case that fits perfectly the camera and an gurantee extension.

When I received the order, the additonal battery was not there, the case was a little to bit for the camera and there was not proof of the additional guarantee.
One of the best features of the camera, it is actually the battery life, so the battery that I bought that never received was complety unnecesary.

I wrote them expalining the problem then I received this message:

I try to call customer service several times. I always got the automatic voice system, after expending lot of time waiting to talk to a human being, I wrote them back telling them that I was not able to talk to anyone, I got the exact same message from them

I gave up.

I will never buy again from A&M Photo. The supoustly low prices they offer are not worth the trouble. Save yourself trouble and buy from a respesctable merchant

""You get what you pay for" - Cheap for a reason

They sent my camera WITHOUT the Warranty Card. I'm praying that my camera will be problem-free for the next year. I don't want to send it back as I fear further emminent scams from this company. They even charged shipping which was supposed to be free. My email was sent two days ago and still no response. I spoke to three different guys (one supervisor)on the phone and they were ALL very RUDE!! Even though I paid less for my camera here, I still feel ripped off by their deception, lies, and rudeness. Take your business elsewhere; an extra $50 or so bucks could save you a lot of trouble.

"Beware this seller using bait and switch tactics! I ordered a Nikon 4500 for $249 from their site. I got a callback from a slick salesman that informed me that the camera I ordered was an Indonesian import model without warranty or owners manual (not mentioned on the site!!). I was then told that I could upgrade to a US model for $35 more and he would give me a discounted shipping rate. I knew I was being manipulated but decided to purchase as it was still a fair price. The last thing the sales rep said before he hung up was "thank you, your credit card will be charged $289.89. When the camera arrived I was charged $299.99 plus $19.99 for shipping for a total of $319.98. I called customer service only to find a rude, pushy employee that sounded much like the one that sold me the camera. I guess all calls are not monitered for quality control! I was asked my invoice number rudely and was told that no adjustments would be made, however, they were willing to send me a card reader and a case for no charge. I told them that I just wanted to pay what I had been quoted and they refused to make an adjustment! I am now filing an adjustment with my credit card company. I have never had such a terrible internet purchase experience so do not let their friendly "21 day satisfaction" policy fool you...they are unfriendly and unethical at best!! "

"Wish I had found this site yesterday. Placed an order after finding a site which said A&M had six of the items in stock. E-mailed the order in and got a confirmation. This morning a e-mail awaited me which said I needed to call them. I did and after three tries got a live human. They tried to sell me a couple of upgrades (okay thats cool) I politely thanked them and said no just the camera please. They gave me the total which included next day air charges. Said it would go out today. I come home from work tonight and find its on backorder. The previous dozens of reviews I have just read feel the same way. This is way beyond a bait and switch scam. I plan on writing the rags I subcribe to and tell them to stop wasting my time and get these people out of the ads. Will also forward a letter to the local DA. If you have given a credit card number to these people call your company and get them blocked for good. "

"I ordered this item back on 12/10/04 and I still have not received it yet. They said it can be on backorder for another 6-8 weeks! They failed to mention that there are 2 different versions, Japanese and American (?). If I hadn't called back to verify the order, I would've ended up paying more than the quoted price. I told them more than 3 times I did not want any warranty or special upgrades of any kind, but they still managed to sneak in the charge w/out my approval. Also, they are difficult to contact because you can only speak to your rep and have to wait on hold for a min of 15min. All in all, this has been the worst experience and if I seen their rating from this site sooner, I would NOT have ordered from them. "

"Well, although this company seems to have a bad rep, the price they offered on a FinePix S3 Pro was too good to pass up. So I took the leap and ordered one. I figured I cannot get sucked into paying for something I don't want, and if the charged price is more then I agreed to, I will simply dispute the credit card charge. So I got the confirmation request email, and called them. Was on hold for a short period, and the guy simply asked why I had chosen the non-USA version of the camera body. I said, "because that is what I want." So he says "OK, enjoy your new camera." A few hours later I got an email saying my merchandise was on backorder. I said, fine, I will wait. Then this morning I got an email stating that my order had been cancelled.

Guess I'll place a few more orders for this. ;)

Has anyone contacted the local DA about their bait and switch tactics? This cannot be legal.

"I purchased a Casio Z55 camra which they claimed they had the best price as advertised for $289.00.

When I received the email to call them back to confirm the order, the rep claimed they had an upgrade battery to replace the one which Casio sends with the camera. When I pressed on this they claimed it had twice the mAh rating. Since I knew Casio sends a proprietary NP-40 1230mAh battery packaged with the camera, I asked if it was twice that and they confirmed it was.

Surprise when I received the camera I found they sent the original 1230mAh battery with the camera so I called them back and after being on hold a lot and being passed around I talked to a guy who claimed the 1230mAh was the upgrade since they deal in GREY MARKET!!! I checked other sites and the only way they have the lowest price is if you compare their price without a battery to the other sites with a battery.

bottom line they lied to me and I ended up paying 325.00 for the camera and $19.95 for UPS ground shipping.

WARNING - Dealing with this company be prepared to be hussled.

"I ordered it early monday morning and got emails confirming it was ordered, packaged, and shipped, got it the next day.

These folks were
Great :)

They tried to sell me a memory card and I had read the reviews here that stated high pressure sales...that was not the real case...they know that Canon does not ship a 32mb sandisk card with refurbished cameras, and told me that I would need it.

I declined and ended up picking one up locally (I wish I had listened to them lol)

I have since bought 2 lenses, 3 filters, a camera bag, 2 tripods, and a cleaning kit, rechargeable batteries and a 256mb sandisk card.

I will say that this was my best online purchase to date:)

A+ on shipping A+ on processing A+ on customer service, A+ on transaction

I will definately do business with these proffesionals again.:)

"Attempted to place an order through website. Upon receiving their "call for verification" email, I called. No one home during normal business hours. Bad sign. Called the next business day... still couldn't get a human.

After I got increasingly suspicious, I checked their ratings here. Probably should have done that first! What a waste of time. Like they always say, if it seems to be too good to be true, it probably is.

Follow-up:
I ordered the same camera (Pentax *ist DS) from NewEgg.com. It arrived even quicker than the stated shipping time without a single glitch.

I then received another email from A&M saying that they've received my order, but need to verify it. No mention of the several times I called or emailed them trying to cancel the order.

"Placed order on December 20, 2004 and received camera on Dec. 23, 2004. I was able to use this new camera for Christmas pictures. Customer service called me to clarify order because I accidentally ordered the wrong camera. They clarified what exactly I wanted and still got it shipped on time. Customer service followed up again via phone call to make sure I was happy and to let me know that everything was in order."

"STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE!!!

I ordered from this store for a last minute Christmas gift. The web site stated that I needed to select 2 day shipping to get it in time for Christmas (no problem). I did this. The next day (Dec 23) I got an email from them saying I needed to call to confirm the order. There goes my 2-day delivery. They generously agreed to eat the difference in the shipping and send it overnight.

I was then told I needed to buy a battery and charger (an American kit) to use the camera (an Olympus 765) since the one they were selling was a European model and doesn’t come with it. They also sold me some other stuff, which I said yes to since I was in such a rush.

The camera of course did not arrive before Christmas and I decided to do some research.

The price they stated and what they charged ended up being different. I was unable to confirm/view my order detail on their site nor received confirmation of the changes.

I tried calling to cancel and I when I reached someone I simply placed on perpetual hold. This happened 6 times and I never was able to speak with anyone regarding the order.

I communicated with Olympus and they told me that the camera is supposed to come with the battery and charger. Additionally the Camera did not arrive until the 29th. I refused delivery and will refuse the charge on my credit card.
