"Over the past several years I have been "forced" to move on as eBay has caused me nothing but headaches and frustration.

1. eBay started cancelling my listings stating that I had a limit on the number of items I could sell every 30 days or so unless approved for more. With that said, since I was in the business of selling purses, they wouldn't let me list more than 5 Coach purses every 30 days for example (even though they were all completely different models). They did this probably in response to people who post 100 identical items so that every search a buyer makes results in pages and pages of one seller's items. Or maybe it was a response to the people who list hundreds of counterfeit items. In any case - it punished the GOOD SELLERS. I attempted to contact eBay for approval to list more than 5 purses at a time, they pointed me in circles and just sent me links back to their "policies" page. I had hundreds of 100% positive feedback and a member for 7+ yrs. I couldn't get a straight answer on how to get approved. I often felt like responses were from a script or robot.

2. No more bad feedback for buyers...but bad feedback for sellers still in effect. Boy did this change the game for me. This new rule of not being able to leave bad feedback for buyers really turned things into a nightmare. Now not only do I have to battle with listing rules, now I have to battle with deadbeat bidders who simply change their mind after winning an auction and decide to ignore me or come up with sorry excuses why they don't want to pay. To put this into perspective, I tried to sell an item -4- times over the course of a month because 4 people decided to back out. Thank god I wasn't making a living on eBay like some were. 1 month to sell one item? When I contacted eBay they seemed indifferent to the issue. (Mind you I had been giving feedback to eBay about the seller's perspective this entire time). Their view was that as long as they refund your selling fees and give the buyer a "ding" on their profile in the form of a "non-paying bidder" record, then there's no harm, no foul. The buyer still retains their 100% positive feedback which is a joke since there is no option to leave negative feedback for a buyer. You as the seller, has to go through the process of relisting, filing to get fees refunded, file a non paying bidder complaint, lose a ton of time, and possibly money if this is your primary business. If this one rule affected a small hobbyist like me, could you imagine the damage this could do to a company? To make matters worse, I buy and sell from the same user ID. While it is impossible to receive negative feedback if all you do is buy (EVERYONE HAS 100% POSITIVE), it is very possible for me to get negative feedback because I sell. Now you have a meaningless, unfair rating system that just keeps hurting people who are the heart of what makes eBay a MARKETPLACE.

3. So I've stopped selling completely on eBay. The great sellers that used to make eBay great are gone. Now the trickle down effect is making it a nightmare to BUY on eBay. Long story short, I received an mp3 player that was very misrepresented by seller. Trying to figure out what was wrong, I took a look at the battery by taking the back of the player off. Found out that the mp3 player was "jimmy-rigged"...someone slapped a weird battery in there and literally used scotch tape to tape the wires together. Well, not only did Paypal deny my claim, but they said that I opened it so it was not in same condition...but...catch 22....if I didn't open it I wouldn't know the seller lied about it. The last few auctions I won pretty much turned into nightmares. And as things get worse, less sellers sell, quality goes down, less buyers buy, less traffic on the site, etc.

My conclusion, or rather question...is why would ANYONE choose eBay now that it has become such an unfriendly environment to buy/sell? Now I'm finding out that there is yet another change to the resolution process on eBay. Instead of being able to escalate the claim immediately, there is a waiting period in which you have to try to work with the seller (who has already tried to rip you off) to resolve a problem with your purchase before eBay will even step in to "rule". Yay me!

"Very unhappy with "resolution of appeal" from Pay Pal, Ebay and seller Marina Andreyeva. She sold me a leather seat cover that took almost a month to get to me and when it did it was severely different color than I needed. PayPal and Ebay said there was nothing they could do so I am stuck with a $175.00 seat cover that is worthless to me. I will never buy anything else from Ebay. Their Buyer Protection Plan is a joke and you will not get your money back if there is a problem. Beware!!!!!"

"Good place to buy things from HIGH RATED SELLERS ONLY! Don't bother with people who have low scores, so be careful! Terrible place to be a seller, they charge WAY too much. I used to sell and buy, but now I'm strictly a buyer. I still like ebay and haven't really come across issues as a buyer, but as a seller, people do try to rip you off; simply by lying about not getting the product, ect. If you are going to use it, do so wisely."

"i’ve been an ebay member for over 7+ years. i have been loyal and almost always think of ebay as a means to buy something... i go to ebay.com whenever i need to buy something.

there are a lot of benefits for ebay BUYERS. there are great deals, a variety of products, and since it competitive the prices are very good. paypal has assured safety and satisfaction. so you do not have to worry about being scammed or losing money if you shop SMART. buy from legit sellers according to their history and feedback. another great benefit are "ebay bucks"; an award system that awards buyers a small percentage of dividend whenever someone buys something that can be accumulated and saved for future purchases. even though the percentage is extremely small, it is still some incentive to keep shopping.

HOWEVER.

there is a HUGE disadvantage for sellers. HUGE.
i am mostly a ebay buyer so i have not noticed, but sellers are basically robbed and oppressed by ebay. there are no longer listing fees if you put up less than a couple hundred listings... however, ebay takes something called a "final value fee" in laymen’s terms, ebay will take about 10% of whatever you sell your items for. then paypal takes another percentage of that money. so whatever you sell, you are only getting about 85% and that does not include the seller’s cost to ship the item.
another disadvantage is buyers can leave negative feedback and sellers cannot. a buyer can leave an ambiguous negative feedback like "F U" and ebay will refuse to take it off. even though it is offensive and has nothing to do with the transaction.

personal story: a buyer bought an item for me for a great deal. an item in NEW condition for half of what it is in retail. the buyer sent payment 6 days later. and i was busy at that time so i messaged the buyer that i wouldn’t be able to ship right away... the buyer ignored my messaged and filed for a refund. ebay awarded the buyer the refund AND the buyer got the item that i shipped. after sending 10+ messages to ebay showing them proof of tracking number. they gave me back the money. (it felt dirty because since the buyer got a great deal, i was the one who lost money in the end but i was fighting for that money even still)
then the buyer left me negative feedback with an ambiguous message. even after the buyer got the item and a great deal; i see no reason for a negative feedback other than shipping time. so i spent 2+ hours talking to ebay customer service who refused to remove the feedback. even though it had nothing to do with the transaction and it was offensive.
i suspect customer service is practiced outside of the states and they have NO IDEA on the culture in the STATES so they do not find things offensive the same way as i do. this is not their fault, but ebay’s fault for employing people that cannot understand and are insensitive.
it clearly states out of the many guidelines on their site that offensive and irrelevant feedback will be removed, but customer service failed to see that it was offensive.

in the end i was left with irrelevant feedback. lost money because the buyer bidded and got a great deal. and ebay took 10% of the final value and refused to listen to help me out. i have had 100% feedback for 7 years and that was tainted by a 3 month account that attempted to steal my money and take the item.

i understand ebay is always changing and trying to evolve. but the recent actions on the customer service department has made me upset and I will definitely do less business.. if at all with ebay in the future.

"Buying a product from Ebay is simply wasting your money.Never ever purchase any electronic stuff from EBAy. I purchase HTC desire z and withing 5 months it completly stoped working.Touch screen not working,phone getting heat up n so ultimately Battary damaged.
When contacted Ebay they saying we its not under EBAY warranty.The seller no on invoice is not working so got another contact no from Ebay which is also not working.
I dont understand why dont EBAy check seller Authenticity before taking them.I am completly fooled by EBay

"I am very upset with customer service as a buyer and a seller. I have never had as bad experience anywhere in retail as I recently had with Ebay. I had recently called to resolve an issue and I was placed on hold for at least 30 minutes!!!! And at the end they were still not able to resolve my issue."

"Terrible website, harbouring fake,crook sellers, which are taking the money from trusting buyers and do not even have the items, that they said they have to send out.

In the case of this seller "jewelexi", I bought a silver cross from them in December 2012, that never made it from Los Angeles, USA to Toronto, Canada. I was assured by this seller "jewelexi", that this is an unique item and will be offered to me again, if it ever becomes available,they will let me know.

That never happened and I found the same item by searching their inventory, bid on it the 2nd time and won it. Advised E Bay staff about the practices of this seller, only to be told, that they will investigate and in fact they did not even bother, to note my file about this seller.

When you bid for jewellrey from this website, you know that you will not get your items. Now, I have to spend the time and effort again to open a case with Pay Pal and get my money back.

If you really wish to purchase jewellrey or anything else online, go to amazon.com or bidz.com as never had a problem with them.

"Ebay used to be great, now over the last few years they have gone down the toilet. Recently I bought a computer for a $1000 on Ebay. The seller claimed the item was new, after some research I realized the case for the computer was 6 years old. Within 8 hours of paying for the computer I contacted the seller and agreed that would not ship it. Then about an hour later I get email from Seller oh he spent the money already and I would have to wait for him to sell it to get my money.

So I basically agree to wait a bit. 11 days later the computer has not sold, and I see a pattern of seller spending money on Ebay over this time. I file a claim with Ebay to recover my money. Well then the seller issues a refund that he does not have the funds for. So more days pass to the 27th bouth item on the 12th. Now I'm getting very upset, refund is removed, wait two more days refund failed. Still nothing on my claim 6 days later from filing. Time to call Ebay, worst CS ever, they BS you around, lie, and deflect in anyway they can not to pay you. Call everyday to find status of refund, told O yeah its coming just wait, don't call so much ECT. Today is Feb 4 still no refund. Ebay sucks, the CS reps are a bunch of lying cowards. They will tell you anything just to get off the phone. The seller is spending my money all over Ebay while I'm out 1k. I will never buy anything on that awful site ever again. The seller never shipped the item, he kept my money and has no intent on paying it back. Yet Ebay can't seem to get refunding my money in any timely fashion if at all.
Ebay and Best Buy are going are going south for the winter and are never coming back.
Update 2/11/2013
Someone from Ebay actually called me tonight to give me the status of my refund, without any promting. She was very nice. It seems I have a good chance of having a refund in the next few days we will see. Because of this decent bit of treatment I have upgraded my review to show some signs life. Ebay is not completely dead, but it was not easy to get any level of service out of them.

"Have been using eBay extensively for more than 2 years. Recently placed an order for hand warmers with the seller cart2india2010. It said Genuine import from USA to India. Probably true, because such item were not available in India otherwise, nor does Amazon ship to India. In the product description a picture of a box was shown with multiple pairs of hand warmers in pouches. Price quoted was Rs.1737. Plus there were other info like Brand, Label, SKU, etc and deliver notes.

Checked with Amazon, and also the original company website, and the price of the box and item seemed to be fair. Firstly there was a delay in delivery which though they had taken approval over mail, as I was not in a hurry for my trip. But when I finally received the package, I was shocked to notice that it had only one pouch out the of the several pouches shown in an outside of the box.

I quickly went back to ebay.in and checked the product details and was further shocked to see a line was added under Features : This is for 1 Package. We only sell these individually not in a case.

I am an extensive net buyer and look into all specs, do all my research and no way I could have missed this? Especially knowing had I ordered thru Amazon and routing it thru vPost I would still have paid the same amount and got a full box of 40 pieces (pouches) of those. Which I have done finally.

The ordeal doesn't end there...I was happy when eBay wrote then spoke that they will refer to Claims Team and this issue will be settled. I finally got a call from their so called "Claim Team". The person thinks he has been trained by CBI. And asks sarcastic question like "I found that you have been using eBay for last 2 years", "Do you purchase any product just by looking at the photograph?" "In our website where did you see that we mentioned its price for a box" and so on. Finally he said that they have decided I am not eligible for refund or any claim.

Even for arguments sake, even if I had missed that fine line. How will I know 1 package means 1 piece or 1 pouch and not a full box (as is sold by the manufacturer)!!!. Unless my English is horribly wrong.

WARNING 1: I warn everyone firstly getting products from this seller cart2india. Be doubly careful when you see "Genuine import from USA".
WARNING 2: As far as eBay is concerned please keep a screen shot of the product details page before you place the order. Because it takes few seconds for them to change or add a line in the specs, and you will be left in lurch later when there is variance on order and receipt of the same.

I wonder how one will feel if he orders a full set of a tool box at the expected price and then receives just one screw driver.
This way eBay will surely go down soon. I thought they were the best of the lot....thus far.

"Ebay kinda forces you to purchase after you click to place an order. The orders are not deleteable even though you have not submited your credit card info. After you have placed the order, the order will always on the account's purchasing page. It is just so annoying, I am afraid if Ebay will use the historic credit card info. to force me buy the product or not."

"Ebay sucks, they don't care about the costumer., they change policy like they change there website (every other week), the only people aware of this changes are the sellers so if you trying to resolve a problem with the seller and the seller gives you the runaround for some time you risk running out of time to make a claim to ebay at which point you are stuck in other words with no solution. I am only glad I did not lose thousands of dollars on a transactions but I am done dealing with a company that don't give a F, after you get the runaround from the seller."
