"eBay is no longer trustworthy especially since they are in league with PayPal, another bunch on scam artists. I made a purchase from one of their sellers, "Shopping Spree LLC" and not only did I not receive my product, eBAY told me I didn't buy it on their site. This despite the fact that on the PayPal receipt, when I clicked on the item link, it took me right to eBAY! In other words they don't give a hoot who sells on their site, they will take no responsibility for being ripped off.
PayPay stonewalled me for an hour and refused to contact the seller other than by email, something I did no less than 3 times but got no response.
The bottom line is that I have vowed to NEVER do business with either of those entities in the future nor will I do business with ANYONE who uses PayPal to process their payments. I spent two hours on the phone to both of those entities; I called AMEX and had the issue taken care of in less than ten minutes. What is wrong with these businesses? As they say, "caveat emptor", let the buyer beware! This should be the motto for ResellerRatings. I'm glad they exist."
"I've been on ebay selling for a while. I got scammed this time and ebay just decided to give everyone their money back. Cool, right? No, the buyer then left me a negative feedback. I sell gold pretty often that amounts to hundreds of dollars. In this particular case it was not gold, it was a blender/mixer combo. The guy took what he wanted from the box and busted the rest of it and shipped it back saying it was damaged. This guy opens a case gets his money back and still got the part he needed from his purchase and left me a negative feedback. And ebay won't remove the false accusation the guy left as feedback. No one should have to be a victim of a scam and then forced to deal with the lie someone had left as feedback. If a case is ever opend and resolved by ebay then neither party should be able to leave feedback, even a positive. Because regardless the transaction was either reversed or never took place. So now I'm looking for a new online service. Hopefully one that caresabout their sellers"
"While I do love EBay this is just a quick note to remind sellers that EBay with holds your funds if you get neg feedback(even if untrue) so seller beware!"
"****************************************
Once I called them, EBay FULLY refunded a stalling, bad seller’s deal in TWENTY MINUTES!!!!! TWENTY MINUTES!!!!! WARNINGS: ONLY buy from sellers with over 300 sales, rated at 100% (you have been warned) + DO NOT USE THE GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAM (you have been warned).

"I have in the last few months purchased on EBay hundreds of items, and returned at most 10% of them. All returns, without exception, were due to items being not as described, and with only a few exceptions, I had to pay return shipping for these misrepresented items. I asked questions ahead of time to confirm what I would expect to receive, but still received items that were warped and broken, wool sweaters that had moth holes or were rendered completely unusable from improper laundering, among other misrepresentations.
I really did not mind paying to return items; I chalked it up to the fact that everyone is human, and sellers overlook things sometimes. I also realize that to buy on ebay is to assume some risk of this nature.
My reward for this? My account has been suspended because of too many returns outside seller's return policies. A review of sellers I purchased from showed me a true and interesting fact. Nearly all the returns I had to make because items were misrepresented were purchased from sellers with no-return policies.
Stupid me, thinking I was allowed to protect my own interests while shopping on Ebay.
One of my "bad" returns was due to my cancelling a purchase from a buyer with a no-return policy who was bidding on her own auctions to raise the price. A review of bids on her recent completed auctions showed a zero-feedback bidder for the last three months had 100% of their bids with this seller, along with 26 bid retractions. I reported this seller to Ebay twice, and yet this seller has not been suspended, and to make it worse, she is listed as a top-rated seller.
E-bay touts their buyer protection, but in reality, the buyer is the one who is punished, unless the buyer doesn't mind keeping things that were not as described and absorbing the loss.
Casual, occasional buying might work on E-Bay, but if someone wants to make a majority of their purchases on E-Bay, it is not possible unless they are willing to accept financial loss for items that are misrepresented.
Overall, less-than-careful and/or dishonest sellers are undermining the entire Ebay experience. Most sellers are excellent; I've found some of my best and most interesting clothing and collectibles there. It is a shame. I will miss Ebay; to lose the ability to make purchases and sell items I no longer want is a big disappointment. What a strange way to treat a good customer (since 2002, 1100+ feedback, 100% positive as both a buyer and a seller)."
"As a seller:
Ebay used to be good, but this site favored the buyer now. There is no power for the seller now. When you list on eBay, you can either list it for free, but other options cost extra money. That is okay with me, but when you do sell something, you have to pay a 10.8 percent eBay fess. After the buyer send you money, you have to pay Paypal 3 percent as well. Checks and Money order is no longer an option. Ebay also charged a fee on shipping costs as well. After actually selling something, you might get back around 86 percent of the total payment.
If you a small time seller, the profit is not that good. If you are a big time seller on eBay, the profit might be better. Ebay is just a money grabbing website. Sorry, but I do not like to sell on eBay now.
As a buyer:
You have many option, but the quality is sometime just too fishy. A seller can post anything, but when you get it. The quality might not be the same.
Final Verdict:
It is a buyer market, but to make extra buck on eBay as a seller. You are not making any profit at all. "
"Ebay is getting worse and worse! I removed all of my items from Ebay. They cater to sellers who sell large volumes of items. I purchased a 10lb. container of fruit from a seller on Ebay--Buelah's they sell fruits and candies on ebay. The seller listed a picture of his fruit cake mix that showed some whole pieces of fruits and NO where in the description was there a mention of diced/minced fruits. Anyhow when this item arrived I got minced, diced fruits! Now you can't make fruitcake with fruit crumbs! Anyhow ebays buyer protection is Bulls----t. They favored this lying, money grubbing seller. I end up paying $59.00 for a huge box of minced fruits. Never buy from Ebay or if you go on ebay to buy stay away from Buelah's Candyland. They will cheat you out of your money & ebay is full of Sh----t and will do nothing! After today I will not buy anything else from them. Ebay refused to make them take the deceptive picture down. Now they will continue to deceive people--oh but I forgot I left negative feedback so hopefully no one else will be cheated by them or Ebay. Ebay Sucks! I will inform all of my students, colleagues, friends and more so they won't make the same mistake! Run away from ebay and run fast!!! I left ebay and purchase all of my items from Amazon. But then I came back to ebay! How dumb I was for coming back to ebay. Should've stayed with Amazon. And from now on I will. Amazon has free two day shipping on most items and cheaper prices. Stay away from Ebay! Also the seller fees on ebay are exorbidant! "
"Out of a handful great experiences, there's always one that spoils it... eBay is a little bit iffy. Never buy anything for a huge $ amount. You're better off buying off amazon!"
"I would much rather sell on amazon. You get your refund in 3 days. Ive sold a few things on ebay. They make you wait AT LEAST 2 weeks to get your money, you must use paypal (who has a fee u must pay on top of ebay's fee) and after I finally received my money; a week later they sent me an "invoice" and deducted $13 from my account! Why didn't they take that off the top?
Amazon is way better. Think Im done with Ebay. "
"I want to rephrase my previous review. Now that eBay wants to compete with Amazon, they're doing everything in their power to keep the little fish out and the big fish in. eBay used to be like a global Craigslist, but that era is coming close to an end. Of course you'll still find these great sellers and buyers who aim to do just that, but eBay is now littered with abusive buyers with this mob mentality to get whatever they want when they want and ripoff sellers aiming to make a quick buck who aren't selling what they're advertising. The last one doesn't sound all that bad with "Buyer Protection" but being short of money is probably the most annoying thing that people can experience, even for a little while, and trust me, eBay won't always protect you.
This "Buyer Protection" is also the driving force and tool of choice for crooked buyers. Add to that primordial stew ridiculous steadily rising seller's fees and you've got a market quickly turning into just being overpriced mediocre products in the near future. If you're willing to eventually endure all that just to get a bang for your buck, eBay is for you. If you're willing to pick through all the gunk to get to the good stuff, eBay will come through for you. But if you don't have that time and won't spare the time, I suggest you spend the few extra tens or twenties that that listing will save you and get it somewhere else.
I've decided to do this and it's been pretty great. I give myself certain rules for when I do turn to eBay. One, I won't buy anything greater than $10 on there that I haven't seen in real life, and two, I won't buy anything greater than $30 period. I've turned to Bonanza for selling."
"I've bought many items from ebay since joining it recently. I've also sold some too. I have had mostly positive experiences; I've gotten almost all of my items in on time (except for one but it got lost in the mail) and all of them are in their described condition. The people I've sold my items to have all paid and haven't given any false claims against me. Yet there are a few severe flaws. Some of the shipping prices that people post are WAY too high, the PayPal system is probably the most annoyingly frustrating and slowest banking system to ever exist (I can almost never get ahold of an actual customer service representative, I always get the extremely unhelpful automaton Sarah who doesn't work), and their return and tracking system isn't always the best. I have a package that I need to send back with my own money and ebay doesn't have a shipping plan in case something like this happens."
"I sold a product on Ebay and the buyer said it was received but not as described. It was a box of lead. I have sold many of these boxes of lead and never had a complaint. I offered to proove my point to the buyer and to Ebay and they did not let me and EBAY returned all the funds to the buyer w/o telling him to return the item. "
"How Ebay has become a multi-billion dollar corportaion is mind-bogling. It is nothing but a clearing-house for counterfeit merchandise. So many time have reported bad merchandise being sold on that site. Each and every time, they chose to do nothing about it and allow the items to be sold.
You can not call Ebay and expect to have a problem solved within 10 or 15 minutes. Each call always takes a minimum of 1-2 hours. The wait time to speak to a supervisor is horrible. When you do get a supervisor, they haven't a clue as to what they're doing or the ability or authority to solve a simple problem.
Has to be the worst company to deal with on the web."
"Had a bad experience when an item I bought was stolen in the mail. After working with ebay customer service, I received a full refund ! Say what you want, but ebay is about being smart and tough when it comes to bidding. "
"What drives me nut about them more then anything is Paypal! Any time I have had an issue with them I have always winded getting messed over!"
