"Beware Chrismas shoppers! I was shopping for a JVC GZ-MG21 camcorder on the internet. I found several sites with lower prices but decided that they were too shady. I found this camera on etronics and their ad said to Order by phone and receive a free tripod and screen protector with your purchase. I am hard of hearing and my hearing aid squeals when I hold the phone near it. I thought I could probably get through the telephone order okay so I called. I told the sales rep what I wanted and gave him the necessary information to place the order. He then told me I needed to order an extra battery because the battery that comes with the camcorder only lasts 20 minutes. I had already read the reviews on the camera and the battery lasts about 1 hour. The battery he was trying to sell was priced at $180, but he was willing to sell it for $80, then $50. I was looking at the same battery on the internet at $31. I told him I just wanted the camera. Then he asked me if I wanted the deluxe or the standard case. I told him that I just wanted the camera. I informed him that I was hard of hearing and that the phone was causing my hearing aid to squeal. He said "I'm sorry" and then he told me that I needed filters for the camera. I told him I just wanted the camera. He asked if I wanted insurance and I said no. He then asked if I understood that the camera would not be insured. I answered yes. The phone then went quiet and I said Hello, there was no answer so I hung up. Two days later, I received an e-mail that stated that I needed to call etronics to finish processing my order. I immediatly sent them a reply e-mail asking them to cancel the order. The next day I received notice that the order had been shipped. I sent them a copy of my previous e-mail requesting that the order be cancelled. The reply that I received said that the order was shipped and couldn't be cancelled. That I could return the product but would have to pay for the shipping. I haven't received the camera and the DHL tracking website is dismal. All it says is that the order has been picked up. I should have read the merchant reviews before ordering from this company. ... "
"Ordered two Escort GT1 vehicle timers for $29.99 each and never received any communication regarding order status or tracking number by e-mail as they state in an e-mail when they first accept your order. Had to go to their website to find out that the order was cancelled and to call a 1-800 number for further information. After spending a half hour waiting for someone to answer, we got disconnected. I called back and got a service person by the name of Gladys after a ten minute wait who said the order was cancelled because they did not have the item in stock. I asked for them to ship me the items when they received them and she flat out refused by saying that the item has been discontinued and they will not be getting anymore eventhough their website now says the item is out of stock and more will be coming soon. She said she was sorry and I said they need to update their item status in real time since when I ordered the item it was in stock on their website and that this is bad business! What a total waste of my valuable time. This was my first purchase from them and I will never patronize them again!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!! Absolutely terible to advertise as in stock when they really do not have the item.
Newegg.com will continue to smash these types of operations as they really do have the item when they say they do--no games, no gimmicks just plain good service as that is what the sales industry really is about. The customer, who has many choices will go elsewhere like I will in the future! "
"the worse experience in 8 years of shopping on-line. I bought Samsung 46" HDTV via Amazon, seller was Etronics, received TV with a defect; scratched screen. After long conversations, etronics finally agreed to exchange TV. Today Dec 18 I finally after multiple phone calls received exchanged TV and it is damaged as well: it has warped plastic face plate - the type of this damage and the fact that packaging was in really bad shape (was probably sent and returned mupltiple times, the box was opened and damaged) tells me that etronics knownly sent me damaged TV... After all talking to etronics over the phone and waiting so long for exchange and receiving damaged TV for Christmas; I had it with them, tomorrow I am talking to my credit card company and initiating process of getting my money out of this 'deal'. I saw positive ratings for etronics but trust me, after talking to their customer service reps and and see no but damaged goods i assure you: they dont care neither about customers nor about products they sell. Avoid etronics at any cost: at the end you will loose money not save, dont be lured by low price from etronics"
"Ordered a HDTV wall mount bracket. Received a confirmation number that day and 2 days later a tracking number. I was hesitant to order because of all the problems other reviewers have had. But since it was a wall mount, how bad could it get messed up? The package was delivered 3 days later (I live in New York state), and the mount was brand new in box with all the parts. Overall, I had a good experience, though I might hesitate about making a purchase of major electronics based on the other reviews."
"Not recommended! WILL charge your account within seconds. THEN they check their stock. They DO NOT contact you if the item is not in stock. YOU must contact them via email to get that information. They *will* contact you for verification of your charges... but despite already knowing they do not have the item in stock, make promises about shipping in the next few hours. Once you get their form-letter email regarding their being no stock, it will insist you reply in order to cancel. 12 hours later, the system will then reply that you must call to cancel. Despite already being on the phone with Customer service and receiving an email WHILE ON THE PHONE, they will inform you the people required to cancel the order are gone for the weekend. Only after threatening to report them to the credit card company will they put you in touch with a "supervisor" who will then cancel your order by phone... only to state it takes 24-48 hrs to process the order cancellation. When pressed about the refund, he will inform you repeatedly he is not responsible for the money being refunded. Fortunately, my refund appeared on my credit card the next business day.
Highly recommended for Masochists and Clergy trying to test their Virtue of Patience. All others should seek an eRetailer who charges only when the order is shipping!"

But Etronics says we can't get a refund until they settle their claim with the shipping company they use! Seems to me that it would be Etronic's money tied up with the shipper - - not ours!"

"I was a bit hesitant about ordering from this company due to the current rating but I am very pleased with the results. The item I purchased was delivered in a timely manner and the cost was 18% cheaper than I could find anywhere else. The only problem I have with this company is their website did not update the status of my order which had me somewhat worried. Their website still said the order was 'in process' when it arrived. That said, I would definatly order from this company again."
"When I placed my order, the web site showed that the $650 item I wanted was in stock and typically ships within 24 hours. After an email that said I required a shipping address registered with my credit card company, I did contact them and then contacted etronics stating that I had done that. Order verification was made promptly. The order status on the web site indicated "packaging". This was day one and all was going smoothly.
The next day the web site indicated "processing". That was down a level. An email to the company was responded with an out of stock but coming soon type of reply. Meanwhile, my credit card was charged!
I demanded my money back and cancellation. They said OK BUT MADE NO REFUND! Said it would take a couple of days. Days came and went. After challenging the charge with my credit card company, etronics now tells me wait one or two billing cycles.
Shrot story, these guys are crooks just floating your credit card money. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. BBB will be notified next."
"As with many online retailers, this store is a very good deal if they have your product in stock and nothing goes wrong with the order. I have used them four times now, and the first three were flawless.
This last time the item showed in stock, they let me purchase it, but when it had not shipped a week later I found it showed "Out of Stock." Annoyingly, I had to approach them to ask what was wrong - they were apparently going to let the order sit in limbo (item is still out of stock a month later.) They responded quickly saying a refund would be issued - problem is, their policy is to keep your money for 30 days before refunding it. If I'm unlucky, so be it. If this happens 25% of the time though, it is a real shame. Card gets hit when I push the button, but refund takes a month when it was their fault? Oh well... As long as you know you won't be shocked. I saved enough on a shaver last month to pay for the hassle this month. Note: shipping costs can be excessive.
Resolution: Policy is to hold your money for 30 days. After 40 days with no refund I contacted them a second time and was told, "Sorry - 5 more days." Refund credit posted to my card 45 days after purchase.
Why is the 6-month score HALF of the Lifetime score? This mirrors my personal experience as well. Stop the landslide! Get it back up there!"

"I ordered a Canon 5D camera from Etronics.com through their web site. I received a gray market Canon 5D camera with a Japanese warranty and Japanese language in the camera's software! I expected to receive a Canon with a full U.S warranty. Prior to ordering from this company I performed a search on the Better Business Bureau web site to check their ratings, and the ratings were good. This couldn't be further from the truth! No where on their site does it mention anything about gray market products. I spoke with the manager and he told me that because they don't specify anything about U.S. products or gray market products on their site, that the company is not deceiving anyone. Now, my choices are to either send back the camera and get charged a 15% restocking fee ($400), or pay $300 more for them to ship me the U.S version of the camera. This company should be required to post a disclaimer on their site stating that all the products on their web site are gray market products. I have to send this camera back for a refund. However, with all the terrible things I have just read about this company from other reviewers, I am extremely worried that I won't receive a refund?"
"Price was definitely lower than the competition. My one complaint is that the AVIC-Z1 had to be sent "from the vendor directly", which they had not listed on the website. What this means is that the item is out of stock but they did not want to admit that. Delayed my installation by 2 weeks."
