Placed an order after confirming on their website (I have a screenshot) that the item was in stock and they would ship within 24 hours. After 2 days of no news regarding shipment from them, I emailed them (they don't have a phone number listed on their site). Finally, on the 3rd business day, I get a reply back saying

WTF?!! "Unexpectedly and temporarily run out of stock". But their site showed that they had 4 in stock! I emailed them immly. saying that they were making FALSE AND MISLEADING CLAIMS on their site etc etc and that, I wanted to cancel the order asap.
After a few more back-and-forth emails, I finally got the confirmation that they had canceled my order. To their credit, they had not yet charged my account and only had an authorization hold.
I finally completed the transaction successfully at http://www.audio-etcetera.com where I had wonderful customer service, even though price was slightly higher."

"I read the reviews of this company prior to placing my first order back in June. I was somewhat hesitant based on stories of lengthy delays and an inability to get answers from this company regarding problems. Since the reviews were mixed and there were a few red flags regarding the items just mentioned I decided to order one small item that I wasn't in a hurry for just to test them out. I was pleasently surprised when the order shipped promptly. Fast forward three months, based on my previous good experience I place an order for another item - nothing exotic, some speakers for my car, which were listed as in stock. That was a FULL MONTH ago. The order status has been listed as 'Processing' ever since. Ocassionally I will get an automated email stating that there has been a delay with my order, but no explanation. I have attempted to contact the support email, as recommended on their site, in the order confirmation email, and the 'delay' email. The only responses I have gotten so far are an automated email telling me that international orders are processed through Comerxia along with an email address for assistance with Canadian orders (Why? The order is shipping to Maryland), and after responding to that another email from an employee that simply states that I will receive a tracking number once the order ships. Further inquiries have not been answered.
Here is the actual response from eTronics:
Please note that once your order is shipped you will be emailed with a tracking number. Until that time- your order will show in the status section as being packaged- please be aware that until we upload tracking numbers it will also reflect the same status. As well, if the item is shipped from one of our distributors it will also show this status.
Ok, that makes sense, and is blindingly obvious. The question I asked, however, is what is the holdup, and when will it ship. After all, the eTronics web site lists the product I ordered as IN STOCK, and has listed it as IN STOCK since before I ordered. If it is IN STOCK, why has the order not shipped in over a month? And why does the company refuse to answer my questions, and now my emails?
Update: 2.5 hours after posting this review I received an email from eTronics. Here is the body of the email:
We apologize for the inconvenience, but we have unexpectedly and temporarily run out of the item that you ordered. However, it is expected to be back in stock in the next 3-5 business days, and will be shipped to you as soon as it arrives.
Thank you again for your order, and we apologize for the brief delay.
Ok, it was nice of them to respond with something relevant for a change, but there are several problems. The biggest problem is that their website, after receiving the email that says they are our of stock, shows the item as In Stock. The second problem is that a MONTH is not a Brief Delay. I'm still not convinced that this will ship in 3-5 days.
Second Update: The product finally shipped, and I have received it. It's really too bad that it took posting a negative review of the company to get them to process my order (either that, or it's one really amazing coincidence that they when from ignoring my emails to shipping the product within hours of posting a very negative review - yeah, right). I see that since my last update another person has posted with a similar experience. I wonder how many people are being deceived by eTronics but not complaining here?
Conclusion: It appears that eTronics simply says that they have everything in stock, when in fact they don't. They then try to find some warehouse to drop ship from, but if they can't find one then the customer is screwed, and they wont answer your emails. So beware of this company. They have great prices, but the ordering experience is kind of like russion roulette - you may get your product right away, or you may have the experience that many appear to have - order, then nothing, can't get in touch with anyone, order sits in limbo for months.
Will I order from them again? Maybe, but probably not. If I am not in a hurry and could wait for several months, AND I am saving a LOT of money (over $100), then I would consider it. Otherwise, probably not."
"I placed my online order early on 9/23/05 and it was shipped same day! Etronics website showed item to be in stock so did not have to wonder about availability. Prices very competitive along with a very minimal shipping fee. Unlike other online stores, (I believe) Etronics offers a 30 day return policy even if I "just dont like" the product (as long as its still in new condition, etc)! Taking into account all these factors, Etronics seems like a great place to shop!"
