"Very bad service!
Website price differs from invoice price.

FUMFIE responded:
FUMFIE, fumfie (see also: JerseyPhotoStore) rep has responded “You Asked and we listened. Do to popular demand effective immediately our price online is including handling & insurance. So what you see is what you pay. Shop W/ Confidence!!”

My reply:
The website price was $430 but I got an invoice for $479.15 and when I called your customer support, they said the extra amount is for the insurance. This is very strange, no other website will charge you for insurance. In this kind of situation, how do you expect me to shop with confidence?

"I placed my order for a Sony Camcorder on Friday. On Monday I received an email asking me to call. After waiting on the phone for 20 minutes to talk to someone, like so many others I was stung by the "insurance" added to my Camcorder order. It raised the price by $200.
I cancelled the order and will never deal with this dishonest firm again.

UPDATE: I received a call from a manager at FumFie. He apologized for the issue and offered the camcorder at a good price - still not the price advertised on the web but a very competitive price. He also added extras for free.
That is good customer service. Shame about the initial issue.

I've updated the star ratings.

Final Update:
I received the camcorder a day before the quoted delivery day, which was great. It arrived well packed. I'm happy with FumFie's service and the follow-up I recieved to my initial complaint. I hope they won't advertise lower prices than they can deliver in future because the final service you get is good.

"***BEWARE FUMFIE.COM'S HIDDEN "SHIPPING INSURANCE" CHARGES***
ISSUE #1: I chose to buy a DSLR camera from this company based on a price listed on decide.com, but first emailed them with a question on the coverage of their warranty. While I waited for them to respond (five days), the price went up $60. I called and asked if they would honor the original price, since it was their delay in responding that had caused me to miss the sale. The customer service rep I spoke with refused, but I eventually spoke to a manager who said he would honor the original price given the circumstances. Great, I thought.

ISSUE #2: My total bill still came to $60 higher than it should have, and when I asked they told me this was "shipping insurance", which was "required by UPS". When I received my invoice, there was no price breakdown and no mention of shipping insurance. I called and asked if they could re-issue the invoice with a breakdown of the charges, i.e. state explicitly that they had charged me $60 for shipping insurance. They told me that this was impossible, that it was "too late". When I phoned UPS, they told me that they charge between $0.75 and $0.90 insurance per $100 of merchandise, which in this case would have resulted in a maximum fee of $6.30, NOT $60! I also phoned the private insurance company that fumfie.com said they deal with, who said that $60 is definitely nowhere near a rate they would charge for shipping insurance on a $620 item.

fumfie.com's terms and conditions contain a very oblique and vague reference to shipping insurance through a third party. However, online there is no way to see your final total until you've already paid. It seems that they use this "shipping insurance" as a bait and switch to pad their profits (in my case they pretended to be giving me the discount price, but actually didn't). This smacks of fraud to me, and I was definitely not comfortable buying a warranty for my camera through this company. I cancelled my order and bought the camera elsewhere for $20 more (i.e. I saved $40 by not being charged for fumfie.com's "shipping insurance"!).

"I ordered a Panasonic Lumix ZS8 digital camera online from Fumfie. The price was the best. Service was fine. The camera shipped and arrived quickly but was stolen from my porch before I could bring it into my house. Fumfie replaced the camera within about two weeks. This time UPS required my signature, rather than leaving it on the porch. The camera worked perfectly. No problems. I recommend doing business with this merchant."

"UPDATE
Fumfie contacted me to offer the product to me without the insurance fee to resolve this issue. I did not accept, but I appreciate the offer. I have update my rating to reflect the effort made by their customer service team to resolve the issue.


PriceGrabber indicated that fumfie.com had the lowest total advertised price. I ordered a camcorder for $799, less a $5 promo code and free shipping. This price matched my order confirmation page from their web site.

However, a guy from Fumfie called me about an hour ago and asked if I'd like to purchase the extended battery, etc. I told him I would let him know by morning. He then confirmed that the order would go out via UPS ground when shipped. As I was getting off the phone he then mentioned that my total was $880. I told him he was mistaken, it was $794 with free shipping. He told me there is an $86 charge for insurance. This was not mentioned anywhere on their site.

I went to the UPS site and they charge $0.75 for each $100.00 (or portion of $100.00) of the total value declared, with a minimum charge of $2.25. http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/shipping/time/service/value_added/daily.html

"Don't believe any of the positive comments mentioned below. This vendor is providing a product worth $5 to $10 to provide positive comments for this site. I have ordered a camcorder for $350 and the retail price was $400. When I saw that they are providing the same product for cheap price I have seen some one line positive comments and ordered the same. After I placed my order I got a call from the customer care saying the total price was $400 including the insurance.

You will not see the insurance and handling charges when you place the order. Nowhere mentioned in the site also. Even if we call and ask the final price before ordering, they will not say about the handling charges. Only when the order is placed they will inform about the hidden charges. When we call them they will speak in such a way to disconnect the call.

There is no answer for why they don't mention the hidden charges when we place the order. I don't recommend this site to anybody. If they are really honest, they can reply to this question here itself.
