"This is a difficult replacement because the batteries are glued into the case, and screws with special heads are used as fasteners. The iFixit kit includes everything needed for the repair: tools, solvent for the glue, PPE (nitrile gloves and safety glasses), and (online) superbly detailed photographic instructions. Because the solvent may damage circuit boards, the full instructions tell how to completely disconnect and remove the logic board from the case before tackling the batteries. This is extremely complex, doable but not for the faint of heart. My old batteries had swollen and begun to detach from the glue, so I decided to try prying them out first, without using any solvent, using the spudger and other plastic tools provided. This worked, saving me a lot of time and trouble; but I am confident that the long method would have worked if I needed it. Once the old battery is out, the new one goes in easily. I followed the charging and calibration instructions provided, and everything is working perfectly. The Apple Store charges over $400 for this and it takes a week, whereas I spent $140 and did it in under 2 hours. Excellent value for an excellent product. Very happy!"

"The hardest thing about this whole repair is actually getting the adhesive loose enough to take the screen off, I had to multiple times put the thing in the microwave they give you to heat the screen up enough to pry on, and almost up to the top the screen cracked a little, so now I need a new screen, otherwise I’d say loving the new battery, instructions were very helpful and clear to understand."

Most notably, two of the screen adhesives were missing the plastic protective layer, meaning they were already stuck to other components in the kit / dirty. Very frustrating to order a repair part that becomes unusable as it likely is already used and has compromised parts."

I did get a quote to replace the screen from a local phone screen replacement and they were $360 to replace the screen & to calibrate my phone after they fix the screen.

As I had never replace the phone screen before and my old one was completely shattered the ifixit YouTube tutorial was great and also they showed me how to calibrate my phone screen for free.

I would recommend getting the iFixit tool kit along with the screen adhesive and If your phone is completely shattered, I would also recommend getting protective eyewear.

"The kit came with everything I needed to get the job done and the guide online was great. There was an extra ribbon plugged in on my phone that covered the batter that was not on the document but I just unplugged it and moved it out of the way. The labeling on the tools needs work as the guide called out a tool and I had to look at the pictures to determine what it was I was supposed to be using and how they were wanting me to use it. Over all it worked great but when it came to putting everything back, that is where the issue was. The screen adhesive arrived folded over. This was a thin band that goes all around the screen so I ended up having to just cut the top section off. Based on the packaging and it should have been protected during shipping so I would assume it was put in the box like that. The battery has been great so far. I'm very happy I ordered the kit over trying to do this with just the part."

"Screen replacement was fairly simple procedure, and the guides had everything ya needed to know. Make sure when prepping the replacement screen you remove all the safety covers.
