"I ordered a replacement screen for an iPod Touch 6th Generation. I followed the instruction guide on iFixit’s website and was able to complete it with much difficulty (and quite a few moments of stupidity) in 5 hours! The guide on their website, while thorough, was using a 5th generation device and was missing steps. The replacement screen did not come with a home button, so I had to transfer that over. No instructions on how to keep the button from moving when it is placed on the new screen. Overall, it was a pretty good repair and I gained some experience."
"The iFixIt tools are THE tools you want when you need to fix a device or upgrade it. High quality tools and plenty of bits to pick from for almost any screws. I highly recommend these."
"I received the replacement iWatch OLED Screen and Digitizer quicker than expected. My watch had slid off of my nightstand landing on the screen. The ceramic floor shattered the glass even though the fall was only about 28 inches off of the floor. So much for Ion-X Glass strength. This was my first attempt at repairing an iWatch but I have repaired several iPhones in the past. I took my time detaching the old screen from the watch base which was fairly easy. Even though the Touch Force sensor didn't appear damaged I decided to change it out with a new one. This was more difficult than removing the OLED screen. The retaining screw (Y000) is very small and reattaching the battery connector to the sensor took a little time as well. This can be directly attributed to my 60+ year old eyes. I had to have my wife hold a magnifying glass in front of my eyes while I worked the parts. Attaching the three wires to the new OLED screen went easy so I thought until I tested the screen. Screen came on but wouldn't respond to touch. I looked over the three wire connections with my magnifying glass and noticed that I needed to push one on just a tad more. Once I did that everything worked fine. I would say this is the most important step "make sure to fully connect the three wires, it is a little tedious to do." After sealing up the iWatch and unpairing and then pairing the iWatch with my iPhone everything is working fine. I have read that Apple Pay won't work on the iWatch after changing the screen but I never used that feature so I can't say if it does or doesn't. I have no electronic repair training but I love to tinker with things. If you do your diligent research and have patience you can DIY!
As a side bar I believe that the Force Touch Sensor should be included with the OLED screen, not a separate purchase. $25 is steep for a rubber gasket. I also purchased the Mako Driver Kit, which is great quality and value. My only complaint is that the individual bit labels are the same color and the bit holding tool tray which makes identifying the bits a tad difficult. "
"They have quality products and some of the best customer services I have ever experienced "
" I have used ifixit.com to repair Mac hardware as well as most recently my daughter’s cracked iPhone screen for much cheaper than if I took it to the Apple store. "
"The box said iPhone 6 Plus but the actual battery was for an iPhone 7. I didn't notice until I already had my phone taken apart and the old battery out. This was during the Christmas Holidays so I missed capturing tons of great memories and am still without my replacement part. It took them several days to get back to me and they didn't even next day air it to me, it's going to take over a week to ship to me.
I paid more to use iFixit because of their reputation but this is what I would have expected from one of the cheaper places. I'll be choosing someone else next time for my repair options."
"Thought it all went perfect, until I tried to power up the phone. After a little more than an hour of tinkering, my heart sank when the screen didn't come on. After disassembling the whole thing again and following all the steps, same result. What a bummer. "
"Great tool kit, battery and instructions. We will be ordering kits from y’all in the future "
"So after much review and a lot of YouTube videos I finally figured out what was wrong with my iMac. The hard drive had died and were it a PC I would have thrown in the towel but for my Mac I wanted to try because the programs on there would just be too expensive to replace. So I called a few repair shops and got quotes that were half the price of a new one. I had watched the ifixit video so I knew what I needed. So in an effort to save money I decided to give try. My husband thought it was a little crazy but he supported the effort to try. I ordered on a Monday and got everything that Thursday. Thursday night I started the repair about 830pm following the guide on ifixit website and by 1050pm I was done and the iMac was up and running. With a little bit of confidence and patience you can do your own repair and save some cash!"
"New parts came in the mail quickly. It was a little difficult to get the ipod apart but the repair instructions explicitly said that this was the most difficult part. Rest of the repair went smoothly and was easy enough. Ipod works great now."
"Fantastic experience. Battery arrived in record time (helps that it shipped to within California). Used the guide in iFixit to do the battery swap and the included calibration card to make sure it was charged/discharged properly as a new install.
Was able to make the swap in time to give the computer to my mom for a Christmas present.
Thanks for the easy-to-follow directions and install, made me comfortable doing it myself!
Will keep a lookout for more easy fixes when other products need repair!"
"The screen arrived in a good time frame. I had it installed and everything seemed fine. However, the color temperature is extremely off. All the colors seemed dulled down (it reminded me of the pixel 2 before the software update) and not quite as vivid as before. For the price its a great deal, but if you want the real thing dont buy this as its not OEM"
"Quick shipping, great repair tutorials, quality parts"
"The Google Pixel battery replacement kit had all the tools needed repair the phone, but lacked the proper documentation to really replace well. Lots of the details of replacing the battery were not properly explained resulting in a lot of experimentation and trial. This ultimately resulted in me breaking my screen somehow in the removal process and having a broken phone by the end of the process. They sort of just said here are the tools and some minor instructions and off you go..."
"Great tools, easy to use
Instructions were spot on with perfect illustrations
Phone battery changes on Turbo 2 in under an hour"
