"I just finished ordering through overstockdigital.com and I have to say, this is one of the best experiences I've had. I came to them after being bated & switched by a previous company, and came to OSD expecting the worst but got the best. I was taken care of my John, Shelly, & Tyler and these guys are the ones to talk to period. They are the ones you wish you were talking to when you call in: They're knowledgeable, VERY patient (i admit i was one of those customers at one point), and have great senses of humor. John's expertise helped me find an external flash that was perfect for my needs. From start to finish it's been a joy shopping with overstock digital. Their prices are more than fair and they just treat you right. "
"I bought a new Sony camcorder. I originally wanted to write a scathing review but instead I'm here to say I'll have no problem buying from overstockdigital again. The only reason I got upset was from my own misunderstanding. The thing is, when you see a price that's 'too good to be true', what your really seeing is an item that's not exactly what you think it is. These guys deal with items I'm not used to seeing, like overseas models. Without going any further, lets just say when you buy from these guys, it's probably going to be different experience than other online purchases you've made (it was for me). Up to now, everytime I click 'submit order' I think I'm done...just wait for the package. Having to call to 'confirm' the order may be off-putting, but only because you aren't expecting it. I see complaints in this thread about 'bait and switch' and 'upselling'. I think I covered the first thing already. As for upselling? I have a hard time understanding why people get so mad about that. When was the last time you bought something at a major electronics retailer, or got your car serviced without being upsold? Maybe it's just cause we're not used to seeing it on internet sales. To get the best price I'm willing to spend a few extra minutes with a salesman, and in the case of a camcorder, I always need an extra battery anyway. Ends up being a win for everyone.
In my case I thought I was getting one more battery than I did. When I called them about it, I admit I was expecting some runaround (based solely on other reviews here) so when my salesman started talking about overseas models, this one has a battery, this one doesn't, etc, etc... I flamed out and let him have both barrels. Trust me, I was not nice at all (hey, I was having a bad day). My salesman had every right to hang up on me, but he stuck it out and calmly explained their business to me. Even without the extra battery I did, in fact, get the best price I could find. I admitted that to him and was willing to let it go, but he insisted on doing something for me. He literally didn't let me go until I was happy and ended up sending me that battery for free. He didn't have to!
Bottom line: I got my camera for a better price than I could find anywhere else. Shipping and handling was on par with the best. Shipped and arrived when they said and in perfect condition. My one complaint was addressed and resolved beyond my expectations. Yes, I would use overstockdigital again and I would recommend them to anyone I know (but also letting them know what to expect). Just be prepared to do a little extra to get that great price."
"Ordered the Sony TRV20 3D camcorder. Expedited shipping for me as was rushed for time. Henry was great! Made the process smooth and simple. Pleasure doing business with them and Him specifically."
"I feel like this company is a bit of a scam. They spoke to us two days after the order and they tried to sell us a more expensive unit than what we ordered. I'm a consumer--I know exactly what I ordered and why I ordered it.
Nine days after the order date, we had not received an update on the status of the shipment. I called and they told us the unit was discontinued. Why didn't they mention this to us when we spoke to them originally? Why have it on the store website and say that it is available and ships in 1-2 business days? Why call us to try to upsell and fail to mention you don't have the item? Why make consumers wait?
With the exception of trying to upsell us, they provided NO updates on our order and failed to let us know they did not have the product we ordered in stock.
Check out their Yelp reviews, they are more honest than this website. "
"Wrong info on a website is a major shortcoming for an online seller. The item was listed for $219 + shipping but didn’t say it was the “import package” with less included. Larry was diligent in calling to make sure I knew the difference before the order went through, and made amends for the hassle with free batteries and a charger and refunding the shipping. Service was very good and shipping was quick, but website is not straightforward. Should avoid problems rather than have to fix them."
"I received very nice reception from the manager and would def. go back shop here.
I am glad that manager was able to sort out the issues."
"I have made several purchases with overstockdigital.com they make it very easy and have a great selection of pro video.
I have my own producing company and spend thousands of dollars a month on equipment I have been buying online all my life and one thing I can say about this online store is that they are light years ahead of all other online retailers. They truly know they’re stuff inside and out and will answer as many questions as you have I say this because im very particular when ordering and do ask a lot of questions.
They’re delivery process was awesome they sent the package the same day I had ordered it and I had the package within a couple of days the only hiccup was I had a different ship to address so I had to add that with my credit card company but I guess it makes sense because its for protection and to make sure im making the purchase but other than that it was smooth sailing.
One thing I do need to mention is that for the most part they are very sharp in they’re pricing but they’re accessory pricing was a bit hi but for the service I got with them it was worth every penny.
I definitely recommend Overstockdigital to all my fellow online shoppers who want to save money, and get phenomenal customer support. "
"cant track your order, they charge your card before sending your product, upsell you when you call to "confirm" your order, and the advertising is misleading. they even swear they sent me an email for my cancellation, but it never happened, PLEASE, DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THESE GUYS, THEY ARE CROOKS IN EVERY SENSE.BTW, they got one star because I couldn't go any lower."
"Beware, they will bait you with a cheap camera but all the accesories are wildly overpriced. I was very polite and declined the upselling. As many others have reported, when you don't buy the add ons what you ordered suddenly becomes 'back-ordered' with 4-6 week lead times.
After wasting much time on multiple phone calls, I canceled the order and bought from a real camera shop."
"I was in a bind...I needed a flash shipped to me within 4 days! I called overstockdigital.com and they completely took care of me. They took my order, expedited my delivery, gave me a great deal and my flash came to me in 4 days as promised. No surprises... everything came exactly as described :) Wonderful communication - thank you for your excellent service!"
"Overall my experience was pleasant with Overstockdigital.com. There was some lack of communication on my order with the status of it, but once it was cleared up, they were efficient and helpful. The lens I purchased is great and I can't wait to try it out!"
"Tim was very helpful and friendly and gave me good information to give me the right product (Canon 60d).
He also gave me some good tips regarding lens purchases."
"Okay, I'm only writing this review because of Randall and the customer service he gave me. I cannot give the business 5 overall stars because of my experience, but he did his best to help resolve my unhappiness and get me what I wanted, thus my willingness to write a review for them.
Lets get something out of the way. Unless you _specifically_ ask for a North American model with a North American Warranty (which will not be the advertised very low price you find on search engines) you _are_ getting a gray market item from Asia with an Asian warranty. The problem I had with this company is that they make it sound like that is not the case. The USA warranty advertised _is a store warranty_ not a manufacturer warranty. I felt that this was misleading. Also, plan on a likely waiting time of several weeks to get your item, if you are in North America, because they have to order, and receive from Asia, your item. If this is what you are comfortable with and are willing to take the risks for the very reasonable prices, then I think you will be very happy. If you are looking for a North American model with matching warranty, you can call them and they can probably give you a very competitive price and fast shipping on it, but be aware that if you order from the web site and are getting an amazing price, it IS a gray market item. The only complaint I have for this company is that they do not clearly delineate this on the website, nor when they call to confirm the order. I called and was unhappy when I found out the above, only through persistence, but Randall, to his credit, did apologize and work to get me what I wanted below the going rate for a true North American model with valid manufacturer warranty. Kudos to him. I will consider shopping with them again, with the above in mind. "
"warning: overstockdigital.com prices wos lower than other web sites, so I placed an order. After placing my order on-line, they sent me an e-mail that I needed to call to "confirm my order" Then they tried to sell me a different lens, I did not want their lens, and they did not send the order because the lans I wanted was priced to low.
They have not charged my card or shipped the items, so Now I have to scramble to find the equipment from another vendor, plus they have my credit card number and pin."
"Same experience as others noted on the web. They had a really good price on a Canon 100-400mm lens. When I called to confirm my order they tried to sell me additional items, but I declined. He said ok and processed my order. He said it would ship out the next day.
When I emailed them the next day to ask for a tracking number, they said the lens was on a 4-6 week backorder.
When I called, they said they took down the "In-Stock" logo for that item.
At this point he tried to sell me the "USA" version of the lens, instead of the grey market import. WHAT?! I had no idea I had ordered a grey market lens. The webpage said "USA Warranty". I asked why the webpage didn't mention that it was an "import" lens, and he said 90% of their business was import and they never really saw the need to mention it on the website.
Well, I cancelled my order. Lesson learned.
