"Initially I had a bad experience with OverStockDigital. I ordered an SLR lens. Got an email to call and confirm the order - my call was passed around and then a sales person tried to sell me filters for the lens which I did not want. Finally, my order was confirmed. One week later, no lens, I called back to find that the lens was backordered (so much for calling to confirm).

in the end Josh overnighted the lens to me for free so that it would arrive on time. this was a good fix to initially poor service.

"Yelp reviews ( http://www.yelp.com/biz/overstock-digital-washington ) seem more in synch with my experience than the wonderful reviews in this site. Make sure you check them up.

Sadly, these people were not honest with me.

I ordered a camera from them. First, they promised me a delivery date (7-10 days delivery). The person, Logan, assured me it will be here by that date.

When that date passed and I called them, they said my order was PAUSED, so nothing had been done.

I then asked for overnight delivery then, but conveniently, the item was backordered and I would have to wait 6-8 weeks. I checked their website, and it was NOT marked as backordered and my item said "Ships within 1-2 business days. In fact, I could place a new order just fine with no information about backordering whatsoever.

They said that they sent me an email. I said I never got such email. They read the email address they had on file for me and misspelled it. So they claimed "oh, we've got your email wrong, see?"

Then I told them that my registration with them has the RIGHT email address, and they just made up that misspelling as an excuse because they DO have the right email address. No explanation after that, other than "well then we don't know why you never got the email", and no mention anymore about that "misspelling" mistake. Not clean. Bad customer service is one thing. Lying to the customer is beyond bad CS.

My recommendation: Go to the sure retailers, you know who they are. These guys may look cheap in price, but the hassle is not worth it.


UPDATE: shortly after posting this review, they called me telling me that the camera I ordered was now in stock. I had already purchased it from a well-known retailer however. They offered me a free 16GB CF card as a "compensation for all my troubles". I accepted, but made clear that this "gift" wouldn't make me change my review (and I haven't, as you can see), yet the rep I talked to said that was okay. I figured the least I'd do is to add this to the review.

"Ordered a Nikon SB700 flash. First had to call and talk to salesperson to "confirm order". In other words, say no to half dozen upsells.

Then, 10 days later, I still didn't have a tracking number so called to check. Guy told me it was backordered for 3-4 weeks but he could upgrade me to the US model for an additional $50.

Nowhere on the description or order page did it mention anything about being non-US model w/o Nikon warranty, filters, etc. It even says "1 Year USA Warranty."

After writing this review, I was contacted by a friendly customer service agent who apologized and filled my order as expected (same price, US retail packaging, and shipped 2nd day air). While this pleased me, I let him know the product page description was misleading and needs to be changed, which he said he would pass on.

Bottom line, an okay experience in the end but a lot more hassle than I was expecting.

"I worked with Alex to order a flash kit. We spoke numerous times on the phone discussion options and making sure I was ordering what I wanted. When I placed my order and didn't like the product Alex personally spoke to me we had it shipped back and sent me exactly what I wanted! Very professional and fast paced. "Was needing to order a Sony Camera and ended up ordering the HDR-PJ760V USA Retail model/kit and the process was great. Never ordered from the place before but I will definitely be coming back for my future order needs for my new camera. Thanks guys!!!!

Update 8/17/2012
Just wanted to give an update to where I'm at now.
I originally had a bad first experience but as another guy said on here, I had ordered the camera I wanted for a much lower price. As it turns out, it was an overseas model.

If you want a camera and looking for the best price, make sure you read the fine print on the description page and realize that the cheap price probably does mean it is an import model. With my situation, I called to confirm my order and they told me I needed a battery and charger and was upset and said to cancel it.

After talking to other retailers, I was getting the same news so I went back and was able to speak to Randall!!

He explained the situation and told me the imports don't come with a battery, charger, and only Japanese documentation. The USA warranty is also through overstockdigital.com or their store and not Sony!

I really enjoyed speaking to Randall and he made me feel like an appreciated customer. He gave me a great deal on USA retail kit of the camera I wanted originally.

The delivery was super fast also. It was shipped and arrived at my house in two days from NY to NC but no one was home to sign for it so hopefully today, we will be able to finally sign for the package and checkout our new camera.

I'll update once again though after getting the camera and sum up how the package came, how the camera was and anything else that I might need to add to my review.

I know this update is very late and should have been done after a few days but I forgot but here it is. As mention previoiusly, Randall is the man and if you want something done or want a good experience, talk to him. The camera showed after ordering like two days later I believe and it is exactly what my dad and I wanted. You couldn't ask for anything else to be any better than how the package came. The camera came in a brown outer Sony box and inside was the retail packaging that the camera comes in. Everything has been great and will definitely continue to buy from them and Randall for my future needs.

After calling today about the promotional items, I ended up buying a extended warranty for 4 more years of coverage and still getting the camera case/bag.

Thanks so much Overstock Digital. For the bad reviews you read, just call and ask for Randall if you can't decide on what to do. Also, know what you are buying, if the price is too good to be true, there probably is a catch of it maybe being an import deal and you don't get as much stuff.

Either way, I'm extremely happy with my purchase!

"I originally had issues with my original order being on backorder for a Canon T3i. After talking to several customer service reps I found out that only the lens was on backorder. After working with Francis he was able to get me set-up with another package for the T3i. Overall, there were issues up front but Francis was able to work with me to resolve them and get my order shipped. "
