The first 17" PowerBook G4 that they sent had a hard drive failure after 3 days. They immediately turned around a replacement for the that had a SuperDrive failure within hours of arrival.
I am very picky about my computing equipment, and the good folks at PowerMax did everything they could to make certain that I was happy. With all of the return shipping, etc. they probably actually lost money on the deal - but that did not stop them from providing the absolute best customer service that I have ever experienced!

Jacob Loeb, PowerMax's resident Macintosh guru, was a God-send as I am A “P.C.” , and knew nothing about Macintosh. The refurbished MacBook I bought for my daughter has been 100% trouble-free and has preformed as well or better (because of upgrades it had that weren’t standard equipment) than her friend’s Macs they had purchased new. "PowerMax has been great with handling my order. There was a shipping SNAFU that occurred that had nothing to do with them, resulting in my order being returned. I asked for their help in the hopes that I could get a shipping refund from UPS parcel service (UPS was totally unhelpful even though it was their error that lead to the problem). In the end PowerMax not only refunded the original shipping charge, but shipped the replacement item the same day (before the return item even got back to them)!
I don't expect companies that I deal with to do more than what is fair when things go awry, so I just hoped that UPS would comp the second delivery. What PowerMax offered me was well above what I expected. I REALLY appreciated the extra service. It makes a huge difference to me and my family to not have to shell out the extra money for such a silly error on UPS's part.
Did I mention that their price for the item I ordered was about $100 cheaper than the same thing on eBay?

"Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for me, this order was not completed for reasons explained below.
For months, I "borderline harassed" Ms. Heidi Wheeler, one of their Trade-In agents about trading in my late 2008 aluminum Macbook toward a 15" Macbook Pro, specifically model# MB470LL/A. I finally got my ducks in a row at the end of July, especially noteworthy as there was a huge price drop on the Macbook of my dreams due to the release of new models earlier in the month.
I called to place the order on the 31st of July. Much to my dismay, Ms. Wheeler was not in that day, but I was assured based on the reference number for my quote that she would be credited with the sale. After this reassurance, I chose to place the order and was informed that due to being after 1pm (or so, but it was shortly after the daily shipping cutoff) that my order would be shipped out the following Monday. Due to my residence in Nevada, I chose their gratis ground shipping as it would arrive to me in time.
Timeliness was of the essence, as the following Tuesday (11 August) I was scheduled to depart for Japan.
The salesperson duly informed, he assured me that it would arrive to me in time once shipped the next day. I was then informed, after verifying my shipping address, payment information and contact info, that a tracking number would be sent to my email address by that evening, the following Monday at the latest.
I never received a tracking number that evening. The next Monday, I still had not received a tracking number, so I called to ensure everything was ok... If it arrived after my departure, I would obviously be without my necessary laptop. Even worse, the item would be sent back as there would be no one home to accept the delivery.
After waiting the day and even getting a timely email the next afternoon from Ms. Wheeler, a tracking number still wasnt produced. Even worse, I was informed that there was a "shipping miscommunication" and that my Macbook had NOT shipped and due to the delay, the earliest it would be shipped out was again, "the next morning" which would now be Wednesday.
Based on shipping estimates, there was no longer any guarantee that it would arrive by Monday the 11th, a day before my Japan trip. Because of this, I asked about 2-day shipping, of which they were happy to respond that I could upgrade to it for $15 or so. I asked them why I am being asked to pay, and the response was that if I needed it by Monday, that 2-day shipping was my most cost-effective choice.
Now why, oh why, am I even being asked to pay for upgraded shipping to rectify a problem THEY caused? I have no idea, and it was the motive for my next response. I canceled the order. I didn't raise my voice, get upset, or anything of the sort. I simply reasserted that as much as I appreciated the service leading up to the sale, that the service post-sale/pre-shipping keeps me from giving them any more of my money for any reason.
Never mind the fact that I was willing to pay $150 OVER their competitor's advertised prices (macconnection.com no tax, free shipping, apple.com free shipping but tax included) on the same unit and was willing to do so even after refusing to meet me halfway (offered $50 off a $200 difference, hence the resulting $150 difference). Before that point, I felt the $150-200 difference in price was justified due to their stellar customer service.
Bottom line, no amount of snarky excuses can make up for failed promises. I was willing to overpay for this Macbook Pro i'm typing this review on because of Ms. Wheeler's extra effort in closing this sale, only to have it killed by lack of attention to detail in their shipping department.
Would I ever buy from them again in the future? Unfortunately, no, as I receive equal service & support, better pricing, and most of all, sales staff that delivers on their word from elsewhere."
"Ordered a Nano from Powermax on 9-29-09. Credit card was charged on 9-30-09. Tracking sent on 10-9-09, ten days later they ship???!!! Nano won't arrive until 10-13-09. Two weeks for a small box and a small priced item is unacceptable. Shipping should occur when card is charged."
