This insurance was of no value when I needed it.

"I purchased Travelex Insurance for a flight to Greece. My flights were cancelled by the airlines. The Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance was the underwriter just wrote to me telling me they would not honor my insurance per their fine print. The travel insurance for flights does not cover cancellations by airlines and a host of other normal reasons for trip interruption. I would have understood if the flight was interrupted for any reason because of a choice I made such as missing the flight or changing my mind. My flights were cancelled by the airline with no alternative options due to Covid-19. The insurance company took months to process my claim only to deliver a form letter rejection. The first thing listed on my Confirmation of coverage is 100% reimbursement for trip cancellation. However, when it is time to pay out, trips cancelled by myself, the airline or cancelled due to government mandate are suddenly not covered."

"They were great and timely considering the pandemic going on, but I still have not received my claim money (+10 days after receiving the email of the money I would be getting back) and there was nothing saying when they are going to be distributing it. It would be nice if they had more details or a FAQ section about how to file claims, or acknowledging that they received the claim. I am worried they sent my money to the wrong person, my claim said it was sending through paypal but not even a confirmation of my email to which it should be sent. I will be calling later today to find out but I would have liked if they said something along the lines of, will receive payment within a certain amount of days. Customer service has been good though."

"Unfortunately, we had to cancel our trip because of the corona virus. We had a cancel for any reason policy and the insurance company was super easy to work with and once we provide the required documentation they paid us quickly. An excellent experience and I would use them again in a heartbeat."

Read the fine print before you buy. Sham product!

"Read the fine print on everything, especially before you buy. They will try to weasel out of paying anything and it’s terrible trying to get them to pay your claim. 90% of what you would file a claim for conveniently for them is excluded even though they advertise it’s covered. "

Typical Insurance company, get paid, then won't pay off.

"Absolute garbage. Vendor cancelled trip due to virus. I didn't want to reschedule for 2021. Tried to file a claim and this garbage company says they won't pay off for virus claims. Typical POS insurance company."

"Bought coverage for our upcoming trip to Spain in April 2020 and then the COVID-19 epidemic broke out. Reached out to customer service to see what our options would be for extended coverage and never heard back. I understand the are getting hammered by requests and claims, but as a customer I expected more."

Read the small print...........

"Have yet to take our trip, but looking ahead to what will be a probable trip cancelation because of the COVID 19 pandemic, I see it as a waste of money. Their lawyers have written in a few small clauses that appear to absolve them of any responsibility to cover the policy in such an event. I hope I am wrong if indeed the trip does get cancelled. "

“Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns on Reseller Ratings.

The Travel Select plan that you purchased is a Named Peril policy, which means that the policy details list all the reasons for coverage, and if the reason is not listed then coverage does not apply. The policy details were sent to you via email, on February 27, 2020, when the policy was purchased.

It is important to note that fear of travel, travel advisories, and destination being inaccessible due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) are not covered risks under the Travelex Insurance policy that you purchased. In order to cancel or interrupt a trip due to quarantine, the traveler or a traveling companion would need to be physically quarantined themselves. However, should you become ill during your trip you would be eligible for coverage under emergency medical assistance and expenses, trip interruption, and emergency medical evacuation.

In the future, should you need a plan that offers more coverage for cancellation, we do offer a Cancel for Any Reason upgrade on our Travel Select plan. This upgrade allows cancellation for any reason, as long as the purchase and cancellation requirements are met, which are outlined in the policy.

For customers whose travel plans are impacted from government travel warnings and restrictions due to COVID-19 outbreak, Travelex may allow the traveler to apply the policy to a new or rescheduled trip at a later date.
