Can't control what they sell: technology. Poor customer service.
"I was shopping for a mini-stereo as a gift for my family. ElectronicExpress had the same price as a behemoth online retailer, so I though, let's help the little guy for once. Upon choosing the product, I got a prompt saying if I subscribe to their e-mail list, I'd get a 5% off coupon. Great, I thought, and I placed the order. One full day later, I receive an e-mail saying my order had been cancelled, because somehow my credit card had been declined, and they did not have information as to why it was declined. (That was ridiculous, I had been using that credit card several times that day.) I call their customer service hotline, and the lady was utterly unable and unwilling to help: - said they can't reinstate the order, - and if I were to retry the order, I'd have to use a different credit card or PayPal (neither of which I have) - and that my coupon was a "one-time use", such that even for a cancelled order, it was deemed used up and I could not get another one, - and suggested I provide another e-mail address to receive a new coupon... and the requisite double-dose of spam. These are clear signs they run a business without having good control of what they sell: technology. They outsource the credit card processor, and don't know what and why the processor is doing. They issue electronic coupons, and don't track properly whether they have been used or not. They want to send you ads, and of course won't care whether you'll shop there again. Sheesh, why did I even bother with ElectronicExpress.com? After revisiting the ordering process, I have a very good idea of why they rejected my order: they have a bug in their web site. However, since they care so little about such a little order from a little new customer, whose family will be disappointed this XMas day, let's leave it at that."

"Ordered a "refurbished" motherboard. Merchandise shipped very quickly, within 1 business day. Tracking information received very promptly. Merchandise arrived well packaged, with the accessories listed in product page (in this case, I/O backplate), and additionally included CD with all the updated device drivers. However there was a big problem: motherboard was dead on arrival, and in very bad condition. Had contamination and corrosion on and behind the CPU socket. Definitely was used, and not very carefully while at it. Contacted merchant by e-mail. Received responses very quickly (under 1 business day). Sent pictures of poor merchandise condition, and exchanged some troubleshooting information. Merchant got ahold of a replacement, tested it and updated its BIOS, and shipped to me at no additional cost. Merchant did not require returning the original merchandise that was DOA. My rating will reflect a criterion that I have applied in other reviews: "REFURBISHED" is not "USED", the former entails cleaning and restoring to at least fair usable condition. The replacement product I received was refurbished, but only so because I complained. In summary: very responsive and competent merchant, inaccurate description of merchandise condition, good customer service."

"Ordered a somewhat high-end refrigerator, as they were offering a sale price. Received an e-mail asking me to call them, as has happened in so many of the negative reviews for this seller. I call in, they tell me it is "out of stock, backordered, with NO ETA for delivery, would take at least 6 to 8 weeks" to ship. And this time-frame is for a current in-production model prominently marketed by Samsung and carried by every major online appliance store. It was clear to me immediately they were not willing to complete the sale. Had no choice but to cancel the order (which was done faster than you can say "Whoa!"). Within the minute I check the product page at BuyRiteAppliances.com and see that they have jacked up the price by almost $400 on the product. Even though the order got cancelled, a pre-authorization charge had been made against my credit card, reducing my usable credit limit for 2 weeks, until I e-mailed to complain. Then the charge was finally cancelled. This business did not own up to their own pricing mistake, and engaged in a bad tactic to weasel out of a sale. I would not try again to buy from them. 2012-12-26 Review disappeared inexplicably from public view. Resubmitting to work around this glitch. 2012-12-27 Removed reference to competing vendors. In response to the BuyRite222's response: the merchandise in question is a 300+ lb refrigerator occupying several CUBIC YARDS of warehouse space. It was not a small 25-cent screw that could be misplaced in inventory, and I have no reason to think it was an inventory problem. I was not expecting to deal with a small online auction seller who would refuse to fullfill a sale simply because the seller has second thoughts about the price agreed upon. Upon reviewing other negative feedback, one can see a pattern here."

"My first time ordering from AyaGroup: I became aware of this merchant through their active participation in AVSForum.com. Somebody there said they were shipping orders within half hour of placing them. I thought, must be a one-time concidence, never happened to me. Nope, they were not kidding: I received confirmation of shipment 30 minutes after I submitted my order. Received merchandise 1.5 business days later (shipped from within the state). Product was in perfect retail packaging, protected by a padded envelope. Works perfectly. And the product page was very informative. Overall very positive experience, thanks for the prompt order processing! (The merchant did not ask me to write this review.)"

"Bought a digital media playback device. Third-party seller was "Closeoutvideo-Buy". Merchandise was advertised as "brand new", but instead they sent a refurbished one. Packaged had been used, returned, inspected by seller and labelled "like new"... and they sold it as brand-new. This was unacceptable because I was buying it as a gift! I complained, seller would only authorize a return at recipient's expense, and advised about a 15% restocking fee. Again, totally unacceptable for a gift-giving occasion. And here's the kicker: a few weeks later Buy.com sent me an e-mail asking to provide feedback for that seller. I could not submit my feedback when I tried to give them a generous 2-out-of-5 stars. So, if they won't take two, let's see how they like this rating..."

"My experience overall was very positive. Pros: 1) Very attentive customer service, they answered my calls, and conferenced me with supplier to check on order status. 2) Product arrived very well packaged, exactly as described. (It was a loose part with no retail packaging, they made sure the padding and box would protect it.) 3) Product has worked well for over a month, I expect no problems for a long time. 4) Product delivered within 2 business days after holiday shutdown. It arrived before I received email with tracking number! Cons: 4) Order incurred a 1-week delay due to supplier's holiday shutdown. Vendor did not know supplier would shut down. I'd just recommend this web site to post a notice to this effect during future holidays. 5) There was no picture of the product on the web site. I was at first apprehensive about ordering this part."

"I have ordered 4 times from DealExtreme. The first three times: - Shipment arrived less than 3 weeks after ordering - Tracking number provided, but not very useful (only shows "it was shipped") - Merchandise arrived well packaged - No need to contact customer service Original rating: 5 stars. Fourth order: - 3 weeks passed, nothing arrived - Contacted customer service, they asked me to wait one more week, then they would help - They explained that for orders < US$15, there is no tracking number - 4 weeks passed, asked for order cancellation - A different representative sends a callous message saying to the effect of "order was shipped not too long ago, please wait patiently" - I complain again - Representative confirms my shipping address... then says they will try to track it down with "either the chinese or Hong Kong postal service". "Please wait longer". - Merchandise arrived 7 weeks after it was shipped out. No post-mark date discernable on envelope, so I cannot determine how promptly it was actually sent out. Absolutely inept customer service, engaged in delay tactics. Adjusted rating: 2 stars. Fifth order: - Received notification of shipment two days after placing order. - Surprisingly, order was sent out of California this time, not from ShangHai. - Item arrived promptly, well protected in a padded envelope but without any retail packaging (I was not expecting any) Adjusted rating: 3 stars. Overall opinion: I would only buy low-priority merchandise (that I do not need in a hurry) from this merchant. They have shipped the correct items for all these orders, but shipping times have been hit and miss. I am not complaining about the delays in international shipments as much as the delay tactics that their customer service representatives engaged in when a shipment got stuck. Looks like they are trying to improve the delivery process by stocking some items in the U.S."

"Bought replacement foils and cutters for my electric shaver. Merchandise shipped promptly and well packaged. I have used their unbranded foils for about a year. Quality is OK; one plastic notch attaching foil to body broke after 2 weeks of use, but still functional and did not rust or break. Overall, satisfied."

"Terrible product selection/availability High prices They spam you even though you tell them not to I was trying to buy a pair of GENUINE Nintendo Wii Remote controllers. They became unavailable online, not ETA for restocking, then got completely DELISTED! Their retail stores have plenty of stock, but nooooo, the online store just won't save you the hassle of wading through the crowded stores. Knock-off products remain listed and available. Their game is to jack up the prices for video game accessories, and offer "buy 1 get 50% off a second one", and even that offer is not valid if you want to buy two otherwise identical items but of differing colors. I got sick and tired of waiting for product availability and ordered from another vendor instead. I'm gladly throwing away a coupon for $50 off a $100 order, and save myself the hassle of dealing with this web site."

"Ordered at least 5 times from PCMicroStore.com. On all these orders the merchandise: - shipped within 1 business day - received notification of shipping and tracking information by email - arrived well packaged and in excellent condition - has been reasonably (though not permanently) durable I commend their prompt processing for orders large and small. Have not had to return any items or contact customer service."

"Very responsive support staff; they answer e-mail within 2 work hours. Order processing was terrible: took over 2 weeks to ship out my order, and only after I e-mailed to complain. They did not honor a request to cancel the order due to this excessive delay. Merchandise arrived well packaged, in the expected (brand-new) condition."

"Ordered an appliance part. Product listed as "Usually ships in 4 - 6 business days". Waited 2 weeks, no e-mail regarding shipment. Then I noticed they had jacked up the price from 5x.xx to 75.95 (and now it's at 80.95). I presume they weren't eager to fulfill the order since I placed it at the earlier lower price. Worse, they charge sales tax to orders shipped out of NY."
