"I recently ordered a system from AvaDirect. After placing the order, I promptly got a call from them with a couple suggestions on components (which actually lowered the total cost). I couldn't find another well rated company which offered the configuration options that AVAdirect does.

Due to the recent Sandy Bridge Cougar-Point SATA-controller debacle (Intel's fault, not AVADirect's), the computer shipment was delayed. Of course, everyone was trying to figure out what to do, so at the time, I think probably every computer shipment was delayed.
They did give me a free SATA controller card which is nice.

So far the computer has been stable and hasn't crashed while in use. There have been a couple boot-up hiccups, but this may have been a cable that got loose during shipping or something similar (I did some tightening and similar things, and it hasn't re-occurred). The tech support was quite helpful with suggestions with regards to this."

Ordering process was good and fairly easy. They made me modify my order a bit but they were pretty helpful and good to talk to.

When my computer arrived it was frozen on the BIOS screen and it took about 4 hours of forum searching to find out how to troubleshoot it. I finally got it working and its an amazing computer, just like I thought it would be. I still think computers need to run with no problems out of the box, but since I got it working I am not as mad.

I will upgrade their score since the thing is not completely broken and it just needed tweaking. "

"I purchased a complicated special-order system in August 2010. The computer arrived on-time, exactly as ordered and has worked perfectly since I received it five months ago. Quality of assembly was excellent.

As for price, I compared it to a comparably equipped Dell at the time and the price was very similar. But, my system was more customized and I have a 10000 rpm boot drive, which you can't get from Dell. So, considering that, my price was lower than Dell."

"Having tried Dell before and not enjoying the cheaply made parts and poor layout, I decided to use AVADirect to build my second replacement laptop. Getting a good look at the products, and being able to pick name brand parts was a marked improvement. I highly recommend looking into parts and compatibility, though if you order something that is incompatible they'll let you know (a family member did this before). "The ordering process on the website is excellent. The pricing was fair with items priced approximately what I could buy them for off the internet. It did take over 2 weeks to get the system. It is not really a gaming computer but has 5 x 2 TB HDD's, 24 gb RAM, an 850 volt Corsair power supply, etc. It arrived in great shape and I have had no problems except with the Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse I chose. They said that I could return it to them or MS if it didn't work correctly after performing the suggestions they gave. The Win7 OS was preinstalled and was ready to go. The only negative I can think of was my Thermaltake case with external hot swappable hard drives were not supported by the Gigabyte motherboard I chose. They still work but the mb does not support hot swaps. This wasn't known until I tried them. I called support and they figured it out but it wasn't listed as an incompatibility. A minor problem.

Overall very happy with their service and quality of the build and will certainly use them again for my next computer. I have always ordered Dell computers before but not have an alternative that I can highly recommend. "

"I was doing research on a Clevo x7200 laptop when I came across AVADirect in one of the reviews.

The web site listed all the options I was looking for in the laptop. Some of those components needed a day or two to arrive, but other companies seemed to be out of stock on a particular SSD as well. Once the SSD arrived, AVADirect put the rest of the computer together and shipped it out w/ no hassle.

"I ordered a custom built machine from AVA and I have to say I'm very pleased with it. There was a issue with a wire transfer, but it wasn't their fault just a banking issue. The machine did take a few weeks to arrive, but I was informed of that when I started the order. It was well worth the wait and the machine came fully built and ready to go with drives installed and benchmarking output in a folder so I could see what all testing they did. The you woman I worked with was kind and understanding and more then willing to work with in my budget. All in all, a good experience. Give em a look, they do a great job."

"I decided to give this company a try. I wanted a fairly customized system, but not for gaming, which is easier to find as a stock option somewhere. After some research, came up with the right combination of chipset and video card to dual boot windows and linux, with all the eye candy under both OSes, and plenty of processing power for audio and video editing. Also decided to stump for a nice case for a change, to swap hdds in and out easily.

Got a call about 3 days after the order went in, that the motherboard I ordered wasn't compatible with a floppy drive. No worries I said, but that particular configuration was part of the base system I started with - you really should call your marketing department and get that fixed. The guy didn't seem to quite get it, but to his credit did take off the 5 bucks or whatever it was for eliminating the floppy.

Took about 3 weeks in total, I think because I ordered an unusual case. Got an email at every change in status.

Box came well packed, both outside and inside the case. Once I cleared all the packing, all was well. One fan wouldn't run, but it was probably jammed a bit by the packing - poking a finger in did the job. Wiring was routed very cleanly.

Installed Win 7 and Pinguy OS (The best Linux I know if you've got the hardware) on my own with no problems. Set up two widescreen monitors, which worked straight out of the box on both OSes. All the eye candy works - Compiz, Aero, etc.

So, I haven't had any problems, which I guess is the real mark of a quality company - how they deal with them. But everything for me was exactly as advertised, and the system has worked perfectly since I got it.

For me they did just what I needed. I wanted a box customized exactly a certain way, and I didn't really want to hassle around with building it myself. They did just that, and probably worth a mention, never hassled me about not purchasing an OS from them. Pricing was competitive - could've gotten a stock system a bit cheaper elsewhere, but that wasn't what I was buying.

I'd certainly give them a go on my next system.
