"Absolute worst experience. I ordered a dryer on Sunday night at 10pm. The next morning I decided to cancel. I had not received a confirmation email. I tried finding a cancellation button on the site where I did find my order - tried to call but they don't open until 10am. At 10:30 --- less than 12 hrs after I placed the order, I sent an email stating that I wished to cancel the order. At 12:32 I received a confirmation email for the original order. When I called I was told that the order had ALREADY shipped and that the policy was that large appliances couldnt be returned for credit.. I could not cancel the order. My point to them was that I never even received a confirmation, how could I know that the order had shipped, and how could an order I placed the night before be out the door that quickly when their website says "Any order confirmation (electronic or paper receipt) given to you through Abe's of Maine does not signify our acceptance of your order, nor does it constitute confirmation of an offer to sell. Abe's of Maine reserves the right to decline and cancel an order, or supply less than quantity ordered at any time."
You can't have it both ways!
Long story short.. they told me that the dryer was on the truck and in route to me, they said that I would have to be responsible for the shipping... and that would be $228 EACH WAY - then they said that they had negotiated something special with the shipping company and they would only charge me $278 for shipping. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told that the supervisor would say the same thing. That's all they could do. So I disputed it with American Express... thank goodness I used AMEX and I finally today, received a full credit from them, but why did I need to go through all that.
I believe this company is not up front... while writing this.. I found another discrepancy in their 'fine print" ... see what you think...

"I bought a $1600 canon lens from Abes of Main. They advertised it came with a free Hoya Pro1 filter. They sent me a cheap Nikura filter. I sent an email to my rep at Abes of Main and two emails through their online contact form over a two week period. No one has contacted me. This is the second time I have ordered through Abes of Main and have had nothing but problems.
Update: I was just contacted and they are sending out the correct filter.
Update: Abes of Maine sent me the correct filter. I received it approximately three weeks after my initial order. They corrected a mistake and for that I am raising my review a star."

"Called before placing order and told item in stock & would receive in approx 5 days. It's now been 16 days and still not sent. Twice, someone from customer svc took my # and said they'd call back with more info. They never did. Horrible customer service. Questionable sales practices. Day after I placed my order the price on the item jumped $25.00. I think this is why I stillhavent received the item. Ive called the sales line asking if the item is in-stock twice since my order and have again been told it's in-stock. The product page continues to list the item as "available." One time while speaking to customer service, I asked why the product page still shows as in-stock and why sales says its in-stock when I call to place an order. he had no answer but would get back to me. On day 13 of this order, I ordered the item from another company and received it in the 2 days promised."
"Terrible, terrible customer service. Ordered a $600 folding bike for an upcoming 4-month international trip. Abe's showed the bike as Available, so I ordered from them since other vendors showed the item as backordered. 10 days later, I had no bike, no tracking info, or update of any kind, even after two (unanswered) emails to customer service. So I called; 20 minutes on hold to reach customer service who took my order number and then put me back on hold for another 20 minutes. Called back, same exact experience. Called back AGAIN, 20 more minutes on hold, was finally told they were "researching the issue", promised a call back within 30 minutes. You guessed it, no call back. Total time invested = almost 2 hours, no progress.
The next day, I called back and told the agent I reached (after another 20 minutes on hold) to cancel the order - he refused! Said he'd "get in trouble" with his boss who was personally working the issue. To make a long story short, over the next week, I got a lot of excuses and promises, none of which turned into anything. Finally had to call my credit card company to charge back the order since I had to leave on my trip (with no bike) and Abe's went dark and now returns no emails.
If you have a choice, DON'T go with Abe's of Maine."

"I ordered a sony tv on 4/1/12 online. On 4/2/12 spoke to a salesman, Sam who was absolutely delightful to talk to. I voluntarily purchased a 3 year in home extended warrantee. Sam offered me other upgrades, but I told him tha I could not afford them at this time and that was fine with him. The TV came with white glove delivery by AIT Worldwide on 4/11/12 by AIT Services, and they also were wonderful to deal with especially the delivery person, also named Sam. I called to confirm delivery and had the tv the same day.
There were times when I was unable to get through to Customer Service, however, my salesman Sam helped me instead.
My experience with Abe's was very positive and I would use them again for future purchases as well as the people that I had personal dealings with. I would rate my experience 5 stars."

"I just purchased 3 appliances (oven, cooktop, and microwave) from this store. Prices were over $1000 cheaper than I could have ordered from the local Lowes store. I decided to take a chance.
Well, the free shipping turned out not to be free. Got a call from a rep saying the "strongly discourage" the use of free shipping that far away. I said, so you advertise free shipping but then tell me not to use it? He said they only suggest free shipping for the tri-state area (obviously not Maine). He did give me a $100 discount on the online shipping quote ($199 instead of $299). I went ahead and agreed to that.
Got a call from a local delivery company to set up a time. They came when they said they would and unloaded the package into my garage. All 3 items were on a pallet that was covered first in a plastic covered foam padding and then a layer of bubble wrap. Got all that off and verified the order was complete and in good shape.
I just got around to opening all of the boxes last night and all appears to be good. I didn't see the $100 gift coupon to restaurant.com as promised but perhaps it will mail later (although it shows shipped on the website).
All in all I'm pleased with my experience and would not hesitate to order again."

You said that had called on the 12th of March and your order had been shipped which is correct.
According to our policy when an order for large appliances or televisions do get shipped and if you do not want to accept it you will be charged for shipping.
Regarding our policy 24-72 hours that is for Abe`s just in case your credit did not go through or if verification has some issues with confirming it is you who placed the order.
Unfortunately for you your order was verified immediately and went to the warehouse that evening .
The warehouse does open at 8:30 am and ships out.
Now what we did to make you happy is refund the shipping so honestly I don`t understand why there had been a posting.
