"I bought a Nikon Camera and a pair of Nikkor lenses. AJRichies advertised the package at a substantially lower price than anyone else (including Ritz or Nikon itself). So I ordered it and got an email confirmation. Then I got an email from AJRichies: "In order to further verify your billing information, your order needs to be verified by phone. Please call our customer service dept ... If we do not hear from you this order will not be able to be processed." I looked up the reseller ratings and found that others had gotten this same email and all said: "STAY AWAY! - SCAM ARTISTS!" I called anyway thinking I would cancel. The guy I spoke to, however, seemed reasonable. He confirmed my order and just told me that the true price would be essentially the same ($20 less) than other stores. He tried to get that $20 by charging for "insurance" on the shipping, but when I asked how the shipping could be "free" if they charged, he backed off. That is not the end of the story. When the camera arrived, it had the wrong lenses! They shipped the (much cheaper) versions of the lenses. I was upset. But I called them up during the support center's few open hours and they corrected it all for free. It took a couple weeks, but it now appears that I have the right camera with the right lenses at the promised price ($20 less than other stores.) These guys are true east-coast salesmen. They get right to business and to some that may seem gruff. Others took this as being a serious problem, but they kept their word to me. I wish that they would have been more verbose. For example. When I called, the service Rep told me that he would send me an email and after I responded he would get the right lenses out to me. He never sent an email and NEVER responded to any of the emails I sent to him. So I finally called back a week later. Turns out the correct lenses were about to arrive at my house! He then gave me the tracking number by phone. If he had simply sent it to me by email, it would have saved me some grief due to uncertainty. The end of it all though, is that the camera works very well. So I am satisfied now. "

"I ordered a camera on Friday, and called to check the status of my order. The person who answered was extremely rude, and would not help me at all. I called back and they told me to wait 1-3 days. Its Wed. and I ordered this on Friday. I don't like their customer service and am going to cancel my order if they continue to ignore my request for information."

"Placed order On Sat., then called to expedite, but no answer, closed. Closed on Saturday? OK. On Wednesday I got an email saying I needed to call them or they couldn't process my order. After reading the reviews here I knew their game; try to sell me stuff I don't need at ridiculous prices, or the item will be suddenly backordered. I've dealt with their kind before. Their prices for accessories are stupid, why would anyone pay them? To get the item they originally ordered. The only people who like this vendor are the employees and their friends, nothing else makes sense, no matter what they say."

"Buyers beware of AJRichies. They publish cheap prices and then have you call in to confirm your order before shipping which is nothing more than a tactic to up sell you accessories at twice the market price...and they dont take "no" very graciously. When I tried to cancel the accessories they sold me they would not honor the original sales price on the camera. I canceled my order in full and hope that this is the end of my relationship with them. Stay away. "

"I recently bought a Panasonic HD Camcorder through AJ Ritchies. The camera is fantastic. My initial dealings with the sales agent to finalize the order were also really good. He helped me to get the needed accessories (batteries, cleaning kit, chargers, etc.) However, I was sold a package that included a Tri-pod. Once I tried to use the tri-pod with the camera, it turned out to be of poor construction and not fit for the professional level camera that was in the package. When I called and talked about it with the same sales person, he told me that I should have upgraded as he thought I intended to use the trip-pod for another camera and not the one that I have. That was a ridiculous statement. Why on Earth would I buy a package deal with a tri-pod that I didn't intend to use with the camera I was purchasing?

The sales person did offer to let me send the tripod back and pay for an upgraded tri-pod. I will just keep the tripod and not buy anything else from AJ Ritchies. I eventually hung up on the sales person when he wouldn't let me talk. It was unfortunate, as I was very happy with his initial service.

"AJ Richies advertises very low prices. I called to order the camera that I wanted, but turned down the upsell items offered by "Dave" is Sales. I was then told that the only way that I could get shipment without delay would be to buy their bundled package that included many upsell items. This added about $100 to the price. I was also told that the battery that came with the camera would only hold for about 20 minutes. I called Sony and they confirmed this as incorrect and that the minimum should be about 105 minutes when taking photos. When I called the salesperson out on this statement, he apparently hung up the phone. I called back to talk to a manager, had to leave a message, and also e-mailed Customer Service. I finally got an e-mail response with the name of a person to contact. I called and got a different Dave in Customer Service. He was polite and accomodating and was able to get me the Camera without the bundle, and he also guaranteed to have it to me within a nine day time period. Of course I still have to receive the camera, but as long as it arrives in good condition and on time, I would have to take my review from a 1 rating to a 5. All companies encounter problems, but it is how they handle the problems or issues that separate the good ones from the bad ones. Dave in Customer Service did what he needed to to accomodate what I was looking for. Thanks Dave. "

"Shady doesn't begin to describe this disreputable vendor. I ordered a Nikkon camera which they billed as 1-2 days processing and 5-7 days shipping. After8 days they hadn't even shipped and said they didn't have it yet. They sent me an email saying I had to call and confirm my shipping address which they had 100% correct. They then tried to sell me more items while I was on the phone. What a ruse.
Avoid this vendor at all costs!!
Ordered the same item from a well known site and 2 hours later got confirmation of shipping

"Very dissapointed. Wanted camcorder for son's spring concert and national honor society induction. Order was supposed to ship in 2 to 3 days. Waited 2 weeks with no reply, then called to find out order wouldn't ship for at least another 2 weeks. Changed order to something in stock for immediate shipment. One week after that I finally received notification it is shipping. Wasn't able to record son's important activites as mentioned!"
