"Shipping is usually quick and variety of products excellent. Prices are usually good but don't assume they are automatically the lowest: even with books, their specialty, I occasionally see much better prices elsewhere. And with general merchandise, prices vary wildly: sometimes Amazon is great, sometimes I can get stuff for less at the corner grocery store and with much less trouble.

Amazon keeps breadcrumbs everywhere -- you go to their site and look at things and you'll be remembered for life. Make your own determination about whether that's good or bad.

Online customer service is some of the worst I've experienced. Replies are almost always totally inappropriate form letters and attempts to explain a situation are usually futile. First level phone support is slightly better since at least you can explain the situation several times until they run out of scripted questions and are forced to listen to you. Once that happens problems are usually resolved. The few times I got US-based support it appeared to be at a higher level and my experience was excellent. Yes, I order from Amazon THAT much."

"Stay away from Amazon's sub-sellers!! They are not amazon.com, they are not required to provide tracking numbers, they will bill you at time of order not time of shipment. With the combination of circumstances listed above you might be billed for something you'll never see. If you do receive your shipment it probably won't be on time. Greater than three weeks estimated time to deliver a textbook (supposedly in stock at time of order)is simply horrible, not receiving it after more than 3 weeks has led me to write this review.
