I order more than 10 times from amazon in the past few years, I am satisfied, and when I order from amazon, I feel comfortable comparing order from a new website I never heard of."

"I ordered a Canon Rebel Xt from Amazon, because I had tried to order that exact camera from Fotoconnection, to have by Christmas, and FC scammed me.
I have ordered from Amazon before, and I trust their site, so I placed the order on 12/26/07. The projected date to receive it was 1/2/08 which was fine. I wanted it for a few weekends after that and so I was in no hurry. I received the package on 1/3/08, but Amazon had e-mailed me to let me know because of Jan. 1st, the post office was backed up, so that was great!
After going through a horrid experience with another online company, Amazon was a breath of fresh air. I got my camera a day later than they had estimated but they let me know, and it was in perfect condition. I will use Amazon for future purchases."

"I love Amazon.com. I have never had any problems with them - always, accurate, always quick and the site has great features. To be honest I have never returned anything. Amazon has a vast selection and they sell many items directly themselves. I can see how someone might have difficulty with some of their 3rd party vendors...so buyer beware with those. I still feel safer going through them for the 3rd party vendors, at least their is some leverage and stature with Amazon and the vendor wants to maintain the relationship with Amazon. "

"I Have been shopping at amazon.com for over 7 years and shutter to think of the amount of money I spent on that site. But buyer beware when you have to return an item and get a refund. I have been going through h--- trying to get my refund. They state that it was put through to my bank but it was not. This has become a real nightmare and the customer service has been horrific. I have been hung up on and practically called a liar about not receiving the refund. One month later, I still wait. They finally admitted that there was a mistake on their end but still I don't have the money. I don't care if I have been shopping there for this long, they have lost my business for all time. Still waiting and extremely aggravated and discouraged shopper."
"I cannot believe Amazon does not have an average rating of 8 or more out of 10. I have ordered so many times with no problems from them. They are my gold standard for internet purchases. I have placed 5 orders between Sept 2007 and January 2008 varying from books to videogames, small kitchen appliances, etc. If the items are in stock, I usually get them within a week of ordering. When they are backordered, I can check status easily on my account. I also get email updates from Amazon. They provide tracking numbers to track the packages. I don't know how they could do any better. Granted I don't think I ever needed to return anything in the scores of orders I've placed over the years, so I don't know what that process is like. I am always careful to buy items directly from Amazon and not from one of the many vendors that are allowed to post their wares on Amazon's site. Look carefully before buying, if the item is being sold through another party, follow the links to see their shipping and return policies."

"I also have never had a problem ordering through Amazon...until now. I ordered a Aluratek 10.5-Inch Digital Photo Frame (POS) on October 21. It arrived promply but the frame is a major POS. I returned the item after much frustration waiting for an RMA. The item was delivered back to Ritz on 6 november. I bought this item from Amazon...via Ritz...and now I am told that Ritz can take 180 days to provide a refund. What incentive do they have to provide a refund sooner? Now I have to worry about who supplies the product when I buy from Amazon? No chance I will order again after this...It is now January 15th and I still don't have a refund...I filed a claim with my credit card, and they now think that I should get my refund by the end of March. Beware!"
"The standard by which other online companies should be measured. I have yet to have a bad experience with Amazon.
If you have amazon prime, you can really start saving on shipping, and get your items within 2 days at times. Totally worth the investment, especially if you plan on getting something large from amazon directly (since free 2day shipping won't work with their other vendors).
I have ordered probably close to 100 things, and will continue to order more from amazon, they are second to none!
A note, like other people have stated, be sure that you order items directly from amazon, not from the 3rd party vendors, unless those vendors are known to be good, like Crutchfield and J&R. Otherwise, you have no idea what you are in for!"

"I have been using Amazon.com for years and was always satisfied. They are the only online store to ship free to Hawaii so I love them.
I'm really surprised they have such a low rating here, and thats why I wanted to add a positive review. I've made maybe 15 orders in the past couple years.
On on order containing DVDs, the disks came loose from the case and scratched, but Amazon cross shipped a replacement for free.
One thing to note is other companies sell on amazon so make sure you know who your buying from. Always check out their feedback before buying from any other seller besides Amazon."
"I was leary ordering from Amazon after reading the ratings here. They had a great price on my gps device, and my previouse experiences with Amazon were fine. I placed order 1/9/08 at 4:45 pm and paid $10.99 for next day shipping. I received the item 1/10/08 at 2:55 pm 22 hours later. It was perfectly packaged and I am extremely happy! I can't believe how easy and efficient it was. I will order with them again. "
"Free shipping is said to be 5-9 business days, but elapsed time can be twice as long. E.g. when "in-stock" items do not even ship for one week. It's ok for the price, so long as you know.
Update: I have had adequate experiences with Amazon before, but my latest order is a disaster. Packing was very poor, so a heavier item was crashing around inside the box. And two items advertised as compatible are not: one a power supply for the other! I'm afraid this has made me much more circumspect about using Amazon again, and will see how much time and money this takes to resolve."
