"order experience horrible, first ordered Time Crisis 3 w/ Dual Guncon, the item was backordered for 9 days, then finally cancelled. What made things worse was the fact that I needed to have a $5 filler to get the free shipping. Now that the item is cancelled, the order still has the $5 filler item, which on the website says can't be cancelled. They didn't bother asking me if i still wanted the $5 filler item, since the shipping is $6. They need to stop the shipment if they don't have the product and tell the consumer whats going on. After shopping at Amazon.com for six years I think I will stay away from these guys.
edit: after emailing them, they saw that i did qualify for free shipping before they cancelled an item, so they ended up giving me credit for the shipping charges. still think that if they posted the item, they shouldn't cancel the order 2-3 weeks after. "

"Ordering from amazon.com has always been a crapshoot in terms of their shipping, regardless of what options you choose. It has gotten worse over the past year, and at this point I have to say that you should never, ever order from amazon.com unless you have absolutely no need for the items for weeks (and in some cases, months).
I ordered some books, listed as available, in stock, and shippable within 24 hours. I paid for next-day shipping, an expensive, but in my case necessary, option. After 3 business days (yes, 3!) passed and I had not received my shipment, I checked amazon's site to find that my order had been backordered and would not ship for another two weeks. NO EMAIL WAS SENT TO ME. This blatant disregard for customer service is what will keep me away from amazon. Caveat Emptor!

Many orders later, amazon.com has proved to me that they listen to their customers' concerns. None of my original problems have been repeated and I have become a satisfied amazon customer. I do have one recommendation, however. Look carefully to see if the item you're ordering is coming from amazon or from one of their participating merchants. some of those merchants are not reputable and need to be researched separately. "
"Amazon is the best shopping experience for me. If I find something up to 10% cheaper on other stores, I still buy from Amazon (with a few exceptions in case of a couple of other worthy online stores). I have bought a few thousand dollars worth of items over the years and so far I had only great experiences. I do not have to worry about manufacturer warranties. My projector was overheating, Amazon paid 2 way shipping and actually sent the replacement before I sent back the faulty one. The same with an expensive Canon lense - I did not even have to try the Canon warranty. In two other cases I found that the product I ordered had a price decrease just a few days later - an email to support was enought to price adjust on both occasions.
Admittedly the only bad thing was the slow free shipping the last year or so. If I remember correctly Fall 2005 saw the slowest orders for me. But you can't complain about free shipping. Now I am on a Prime trial which gives you free 2nd day shipping and items come flying (yes, literally) to my house!
Why the low rating on this site then? I think people confuse Amazon-fulfilled orders with either marketplace or third-party partners. On top of the page you can see if the item is send by Amazon (then it will have the "eligible for Free Shipping" icon), or by a partner. And forget about Amazon marketplace. It is just as reliable as ebay (you have to rely on ratings etc)."
"I have been dealing with Amazon for about 1o years, and have yet to find a negative aspect regardless of product. I found a product to be not exactly as described, and they compensated me, I found a product price lowered after a recent purchase and they compensated me the difference to match tyhe current offered price (Omega Speedmaster 3513.30). I highly recommend any purchase through Amazon as they stand by the products they offer. I even had a 70 lbs. monitor shipped for free a while back when CRT's were still the way to go. I also found that sinces I live in Hawaii, shipping costs are quite high on some sites, but Amazon always seems to be reasonable. Buy with confidence at Amazon."
