"This was my SECOND "hung" order with Amazon. It seems they have a system problem which was supposed to have been taken care of by their customer service department but obviously hasn't. This problem causes orders to be "hung". That means that Amazon gets the order but does not forward it to third party vendors for fulfillment. The customer doesn't know and the third parties don't know and Amazon isn't checking. After long delays, amazon's customer service reps force the customer to trouble shoot things with the third party vendors to make sure the problem isn't on their end before Amazon will check things on their end! At that point, weeks have gone by and orders get cancelled and reordered from another vendor. This has happened on two straight orders and they apparently don't give a crap about customer service/statisfaction. The story is the same..."we're sorry and have turned the issue over to the tech department for immediate resolution". Well, after years and several thousand dollars of orders with Amazon...NO MORE. You've failed your mission and I have no time to deal with a "middle man" that simply doesn't care or is too big to notice the problems they have. To put the burden on the customer is ridiculous and to be so shoddy in business is a sure way to lose customers which amazon has done in this case.
Amazon has deteriorated to the point of not being worth the headaches. Just use their site to find vendors and prices and order direct instead. Much easier and trouble free. Oh, they'll tell you about having Amazon behind your back if products arrive damaged or don't arrive at all but isn't that exactly why I left them in the first place? Unbelievable. Amazon...GET A CLUE!!"
"I bought a product from them, and they cancelled the order without any notices. I e-mailed them and they said there was an error on their web-site, and that was why they cancelled it. They were supposed to contact me before cancelling my order!
Amazon is a big company and doesnt' care about each customer. "
"Ordered my Brother fax machine yesterday and got it today! Great service and greatest price!! Will buy from again."
"Amazon.com is screwing me out of 3000$. I ordered an item from them on February 23... I returned the item (it was defective) within 30 days of delivery according to their return policy. I am STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND today on APRIL 24, 2006. Over 30 days I have been waiting for 3000$.
Every time I call their customer service I keep getting told its a glitch in their computer. Nobody their is any help.
Now I have to wait for amazon.com to fix their "glitch".
I have filed a dispute with my Credit Card company and await for their decision to do a chargeback.
UNBELIEVEABLE. NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM AMAZON IF THERE IS ANY CHANCE YOU MAY WANT A REFUND!"
"Ordered an item from Amazon and they stated it was shipped via UPS Ground (which is what I paid for). Well after some research on my end, I found out that it was shipped via USPS. Instead of a 3-5 day delievery, it now has a 10-15 day delievery date. I tried contacting Amazon and the only option is email. All 3 reponses from Amazon for this order were all foreigners with cut and paste answers."
"I have purchased books from Amazon in the past and recieved good service. However, I recently made a purchase and have been extremely disappointed with the service. I placed an order on April 8th, and elected the "free shipping" which was supposed to be 5-7 days. About 10 days later, having not recived my books, I check the order online, and then discovered the shipping date was set for May 11th, more than a month after placing my order. When I complained to customer service via email, I received a preprogramed response about the "free shipping" and "shipping date" listed in the fine print. If you buy from Amazon, you had better count on paying the extra for priority shipping, otherwise they will use the "free shipping" as an excuse for putting your order at the bottom of the pile."
"I have been doing business with Amazon since 1997, and do a great deal of on-line shopping overall. Although my experience with Amazon has not been problem free, it is well above what I have experienced from typical retailers. Their prices are very good, and while not always the lowest, other benefits such as free shipping often make them the best deal.
Shipping is usually pretty fast. If you select the free budget shipping, your order may not be sent out as soon, since they try to optimize things to minimize their costs. However, they will often (but not always) ship partial orders, even if you decided to save money by not requesting it, if only some items are in stock.
Amazon is usually good at resolving problems. Even in a case where a problem was partially my fault, but a misleading website entry caused me to order the wrong version of a book, they not only sent a new one and gave credit for shipping, they also fixed the listing very quickly.
I did have an order where there was a problem getting my credit card charged, and amazon had a difficult time helping me. I had a series of customer service agents give me wrong information, and it took days for the problem to clear up. (It eventually cleared up by itself.) Had I not been a long time customer, I would not have done business with them again. But when I contacted the highest level of support, they went out of their way to make things right.
Overall, problems are rare, and are usually easy to resolve. They do a very good job of informing customers of the order status and shipping status. If there is a problem with a shipment, they do a better job resolving it than most companies.
The only down side is that they make it difficult to find their customer support number. It used to show up on invoices, as well as on my credit card statement, but it's now easier to find it with a Google search than at their website. Fortunately, it's not needed very often.
Although I did mention a few negative experiences, those were out of about 50 purchases, and there's not much to say about the rest. They went well, I got things when expected, and amazon took care of me."
"Made multiple purchase from Amazon.com, I have had prime for almost 2 years and am extremely satisfied with the packing and shipping speed for it. With prime I have been ordering more things on amazon, and with the grocery section have been ordering more food items when they get on sale to competitive prices (mostly it is a bit more to order online, and since the grocery store is still required, I get most things there)
Without prime it seemed like it takes multiple days to ship, and then 5-7 to arrive, so almost 2 weeks to arrive (my non-prime experience is old).
Their customer service has been good, disappointed they removed the price-match policy, but any issues I have with an order gets resolved. I have notice the phone system gets a better resolution then their email support."
"After giving up looking for the best deal for a Samsung LN40A750 LCDTV on Pricegrabber and Nextag, realizing the companies that were providing superb deals were a bunch of scams out of Brooklyn, and giving up looking for a local establishment that offered the TV at a decent price (Circuit City and Best Buy offered it at $1800 before tax AND shipping being that it was a web-only item), I placed my order with Amazon on Dec 31. I paid $1422 minus $50 gift card for a total of $1377, which was not bad WITH the gift card that I received from a friend, but by itself $1422 is not the best of deals, but would have sufficed regardless. There was no tax, and shipping was free. It was charged not long after and was to be shipped out on Jan 2 due to the New Years Holiday. On the 2nd I got a tracking number through CEVA Logistics and a listed ship date of Jan 12, which was a little disconcerting since I had to leave town on the 8th and did not want to put the burden of installation on my parents. It left from Indianapolis,IN on the 2nd. On Sunday I checked the shipment on CEVA's website and it said it was scanned in Columbus,OH on the 3rd and a new estimated ship date of the 8th. This was no surprise because WITH weekend travel there was no way a trip from Indianapolis to Philadelphia would take 10 days (its a straight shot of a little over 10 hours!). On the 6th I received an email from CEVA asking me to call and schedule delivery. I called and set up the earliest time available, the 8th at 12PM. On the 8th CEVA called around 9:30AM but I missed it because I was out of the house. I returned their call when I returned at 10AM and they informed me that they were trying to deliver at 9:30 and because I missed the call they could not ensure it would be delivered today. I informed them that I would prefer to have it shipped today and that it was not even close to the scheduled 12PM ship time. He said he would check things and call back in 5 minutes. 5 minutes later he called back and said he could ship it right now, so I accepted and they showed up (in a standard white van, for those who are wondering) not long after. They opened the box, installed the TV where I wanted it, and checked it for damages and to see if it worked fine. After confirming that it was good I signed off and the two guys left.
Overall a wonderful experience with Amazon. I have purchased small items with Amazon in the past, on the order of $30 or so, so it is no surprise that everything went smooth, but this was a $1400 item so I was hoping things would turn out well and it did.
I never dealt with Amazon tech support, nor do I plan on it since the TV looks good and works perfectly.
The only real negatives with Amazon and TV purchases is CEVA and the tracking. I had no problems with their service in the delivery, nor did I have a problem with it shipping 10 hours away out of Indianapolis, because I read on the internet that Amazon sometimes ships out of North Jersey or Delaware, which is more local for me being in Philadelphia. I just was not pleased with the tracking. Their website was slow, besides it not working sometimes, and the tracking updates were non-existent. When I viewed my tracking info before receipt of the shipment I saw just 5 items: item scan IND,IN on the 2nd, departure scan from IND,IN on the 2nd, arrival scan COL,OH on the 3rd, email sent on the 6th, customer called on the 6th, shipment delivered on the 7th. After receipt of the tv they refreshed it and removed the Columbus,OH information and added detailed shipment/arrival information for Philadelphia,PA, but I would have preferred, like UPS and FedEx, to see incremental updates. I doubt they made a straight shot from Columbus to Philadelphia! Incremental updates allows for users to plan their schedule around the shipment, where as no updates leaves you in the dark and you are just waiting for their email or phonecall. It was fine for me because I was on break from school, home all day, but what if i wasn't...
Bottom line is, if I ever need to buy a top of the line television again, let alone any television, I will order it from Amazon. Thanks Amazon!"
"I ordered 11 copies of a language CD and, based on this experience, I will avoid amazon.com at all costs. Not only did I have to call them 3-4 times to find out why my order was delayed (it was all in-stock, waitng for stock, waiting to be shipped, etc., etc.), they lowered my order from 11 copies to 6 without my consent or notifying me. Talk about a stupid, customer-UNFRIENDLY operation!! I found what I wanted at another e-tailer and they delivered in 6 days, so I wrote amazon.com and their reply was worthless. I gave up on them."
"Very simply put, I ordered a Seiko kinetic men's watch, which looked very different from the picture of it on Amazon.com's site. The same day I received & saw it, I filled out a Return request & shipped it back.
Amazon offered a list of reasons for returning the watch, and I cited misrepresentation of the item in its listing. On the next page, Amazon.com explicitely stated that I was to pay for shipping the item back, because "Amazon.com was not at fault " for my need to return the item.
If misrepresenting a product isn't Amazon.com's fault, whose fault IS it? I guess it must have been mine, for believing that I would receive a watch that looked something like the one they showed a picture of.
The best part? ...they changed the picture to an accurate one after they processed my refund. Sans the shipping charge to return it, of course. Thank goodness I could pay $5 so that they could fix their misleading listing.
[addendum: I emailed Amazon.com's Customer Service asking how they could deny fault in a case of (alleged) misrepresentation of a product: they responded with a formulaic email notifying me of my purchase price refund, minus the cost of shipping the watch back to them.]"
"No longer the leader in usability and ease-of-purchase, but I like the Amazon shopping experience. And I particularly enjoy being able to shop from a variety of different vendors, not just Amazon, and to see pricing for both new and used products. It's great being able to buy books, lightbulbs, frying pans, and clothes, all at the same online store. I also like that it gives separate "expected delivery dates" for shipments being sent from different locations"
"This order was fulfilled. However, I had to cancel my next order from them because of a website screwup and customer service was horrible and had a hard time dealing with it. I have cancelled my Amazon.com account and cannot recommend them anymore. Outsourcing Customer service has caused the quality of Amazon.com's customer service to fall drastically."
""DO NOT BUY FROM AMAZON.COM." A-Z sellers SCHNEIDER_MEDIA and OTHER SELLERS is a ONLINE SCAM. This is one of the WORST experiences I have ever been through. and the first time and LAST time I will ever use AMAZON.COM! AMAZON.com is RIPOFF and a TOTAL COMPLETE JOKE. DO NOT TRUST the A-Z sellers they are SCAMMERS and BATE-SWITCHERS! I ordered an Anime DVD for $17.99 + 2.50 shipping from Schnieder_media, seemed ok his seller ratings was a 8 before i ordered. All the A-Z sellers can do this btw PROBLEM ONE: Shipping date anywhere between 21 March to 4 April 2006. BULLCRAP WTF is this about? PROBLEM TWO: Tried contacting seller, seller does not obligate to contact you back after he has taken your money. PROBLEM THREE Amazon.com basically has no costumer call service, there is a link to contact by phone but for some MYSTERIOUS reason it brings you too a dead link wishing they could hear from you... oh btw email us instead.. total BULLCRAP! Now Schneider_Media is all but disapeared and his ratings has have dropped to 50%. Alot of customers including me have been taken, we all have left bad ratings and now the guys online store with amazon has mysteriously been deleted AND you cant contact the seller through his email address which has been, MYSTERIOUSLY turned off. It seems this is not the only online seller that has done this. Look at Amazon ratings itself. ALL in ALL buy from CRAIGSLIST, EBAY, NEWEGG.COM. LETS GET RID OF AMAZON.COM for GOOD!"
"Bait and switch. Listed one item for sale, then e-mailed back a week or two later saying they will not supply the originally offered product. Instead substituting one of much lower value and performance."
