Renita is my sister-in-law. She has a very old Amana electric dryer that was not heating enough to dry clothes. I have never worked on a dryer, but it seemed like a fun challenge, and could possibly save her several hundred dollars in repairs.

I googled "amana electric dryer not heating" and soon found several websites with helpful information including AppliancePartsPros.com. I looked at about 5 of the most promising, but AppliancePartsPros.com had, in my opinion, better all-around information than any of the others. I was especially impressed by the tutorial videos showing step-by-step how to replace each part, and explaining why you would need to replace that particular part. These videos helped me determine which parts to replace.

I only had a few days to get the parts, so before placing my order I checked out online reviews of AppliancePartsPros.com to make sure they were trustworthy and could deliver in time. At the same time I also checked out some of the other parts websites I had been looking at.

As usually happens, there were positive reviews as well as negative reviews, and some that were downright alarming. Because of these reviews I decided to order from one of the other companies. But when I went to order the parts, they didn't have everything I needed. So I tried another company, but had the same results - there were parts I needed that they did not have in stock.

So I swallowed my doubts and ended up returning to AppliancePartsPros.com. They had all of the parts I needed, and the prices were considerably less than their competitors. They also gave me an acceptable delivery date, subject of course to potential covid-related delays. So I placed my order with them. The ordering process was very straightforward, better than the competitors that I had tried.

But after I placed my order, I got an email and a text message on my phone telling me that my order had been placed on hold and would be cancelled unless I contacted them. I phoned AppliancePartsPros.com and it turned out the problem was because the delivery address (my sister-in-law's house) was not the same as my home address, which is the billing address for my credit card. They just wanted to make sure my credit card was not being used fraudulently. They quickly resolved the problem and shipped my order the same day.

Because of this delay, the parts arrived a day later than I had hoped, but I still had time to change them out. Following their videos made it very easy to get everything replaced and hooked up correctly, and the parts were a perfect fit.

The only problem I had was with the jumper cable for the Thermal Cut-Off Kit. After following the directions, the jumper could not be attached to the heater element because the connector was too small (1/4 inch). I don't know if this was because it is an older model dryer, or maybe I did something wrong when preparing the jumper cable. In any event, I finally found the correct connectors at an auto parts place (3/8" female quick-disconnect). This is the only thing I had a problem with. Which I thought was pretty good since I had never worked on a dryer before.

In addition to the dryer parts I replaced, I also cleaned out the dryer exhaust vent, and replaced the wall receptacle, which had a faulty connection.

I gave AppliancePartsPros.com a 5 star rating because:
They took steps to protect my credit card from fraudulent charges, and immediately notified me by text message and email.
Excellent and responsive customer service.
Excellent videos showing how to replace the parts.

The only improvement I would suggest is to provide a jumper cable with a 3/8" female quick-connect for the Thermal Cut-Off Kit to make the Kit complete.
