"The refrigerator side of my General Electric refrigerator freezer stopped working. I had noticed the refrigerator didn't sound right. I pulled it out cleaned the coils and noticed that the fan positioned over the evaporator tray wasn't running. Screwed the fan out and called around Grand Prairie/Dallas. The part was not available in area so I went to the internet. Found it! Was told it would arrive in 2 weeks. It arrived in 3 days. I put it in and my refrigerator is good as new. I'm a 72 year old woman and have saved myself almost $2,000."

"Watching "how to" video was the best. The heat shrink tubing was too big and did not shrink to size of wire connectors and wire so had to add electrical tape. Also, crimping the connectors was very difficult and after 1st attempt, wires pulled out so had to get a small screwdriver and open the partially crimped connector in order to insert the wire again. This worked. Otherwise, all ok."

"One of our intermittent burners was not working at all although it would spark. No gas seemed to be getting through. After pouring through much material on the website and online and checking out the electrical connections as instructed we finally realized that the burner was not making the "clunk" sounds that the other burners were making when engaged. Although everyone kept pointing us to the potentiometers or the controller, we realized that it was more likely the solenoid valve that was not working. (Hence, the absence of the "clunk.") After measuring that proper voltage existed to the solenoid valve terminals (110 volts, d.c. across the terminals), we confirmed that the controller was providing proper voltage to the valve, but that the solenoid valve itself had failed. Easy replacement and we've been good to go. Look for YouTube videos on how to loosen the bolts if you are having problems. This is what drives up the cost of repairs on these things...the time it takes to get them apart...not the time it takes to actually fix them. The necessary part was in stock and came promptly. "Easy to find part by picture, easy to order, fast service. Although fitting parts of this handle were not exactly the same as the original, it fit onto the door just fine and exterior matched. The original had an allen screw at both metal knobs on each end. The new part has only one and the other end knob has to be forceably slid into plastic fitting. This can only be done by tightly holding the left knob into the new fitting and tapping firmly with rubber mallet at other end to slide the left side into the plastic fitting. Required an extra hand. Would have like to have had at least some visual instruction as to how to attach the new handle. "

"I installed a kit but then could not get a seal alone. So i bought another kit.

I am an experienced professional mechanic but not an appliance pro, so I figured i could make this repair. I bought the Shaft kit for my 7 year old whirlpool. The video was pretty good . I found rust and water stains coming from the main drive shaft so I figured had diagnosed my leak properly. I did get all of the parts installed but the video was a bit vauge in "Make sure the shaft is seated all of the way." I did buy the parts kit for $105 the bearing press for an additional $150 or so. When i was finished the unit still leaked. I figured it was my fault for not seating the shaft all of the way down. I tried to buy just the seal since the bearings were new. The seal is not listed on the parts break down. I orderd what I thought was a new seal. I waited with a leaking washer for a month and when it came in, it was the wrong part. So since i had the tool I ordered another kit. I put this in and yet it still leaks. I do not know what I did wrong this time but iIhave given up on it and on whirlpool in general.

To re-cap i have spent 358 dollars and two days of my time to NOT fix my 7 year old whirlpool washer. I hated to do it, but I ordered a new LG washer for $625. I will hate to take mine to the scrapyard but at this point i have no choice.

In short if you find a leaking fill valve or a cracked hose have at it. If you have a leaking shaft you may want to think about having it repaired professionally, or replacing the whole damn thing. "
