"I had lady friend call saying the washer was making a humming sound and not spinning. Wise lady did not keep running the machine. Checked the machine and she was correct. Watched a few videos on part replacement. Was afraid the motor may be weak or going bad. Removed the pump. Very easy. Machine had the power off, so tried to turn motor shaft. Unable to turn by hand. Took a pair of vise grips and placed on the flat side of shaft and was able to turn it easily. The washer tub also turned with it very easily. I am a retired electrician and was able to make sure the machine was safe to operate and bypassed the door switch and the machine operated fine. This step on not for anyone not familiar with working on operating machinery. Not sure why the pump was causing problem but decided to replace it. Easy job, however, if you cannot get all of the water out of the tub do this. Get a large plastic storage bin to drain the water. First take off the hose going to the drain. There will be water in it. Try to drain any remaing water by holding the old pump over the plastic tub. When it stops take the hose off the pump and drain into the pan. Even an empty tub will have a large volume of water in it. Once it starts draining you will not be able to stop the water from coming out. Thus the large pan. Replacing the pump is very easy. Getting the machine cover back on in a confined space can be a challenge. Turned the machine back on and it worked great. Old pump was not leaking and was not able to turn shaft. Looked at the inlet and outlet side of the pump I saw a red colored cloth material in it. This what cause the pump to fail. Watch the videos and you can easily replace this pump. Just be cautious with when taking the hoses off for the water that may remain. Very pleased that is was not a motor and the lady had the common sense not to keep running the machine and possible burning up the motor."

"Replaced the detergent dispenser and coarse filter on our 10-year-old GE dishwasher, which was not cleaning all that well. The selling point for me was the note made in the coarse filter replacement video that GE had upgraded the part. Indeed, the new part fits snugly, without warping, so as to prevent the accumulation of a pound of white sludge that I dug out of my dishwasher in the process of replacement. The thing doesn't quite "run like new", but it cleans as well as it did years ago, which is excellent! Parts arrived in three days, which was super!"
