"I had an excellent experience dealing with Autotoys - helpful and comprehensive advice from their web-site, an excellent product promptly despatched, and a price that significantly undercut other companies on the net.
I was looking for a way to connect the audio system on my 2000 VW Cabrio GLS to my iPod and my phone (which I use to listen to Pandora radio).
I had been using a cassette adapter, but that gave relatively poor sound quality and looked ugly, with wires all over the dashboard. The VW dealership said that there was no other way to make such a connection.
The Autotoys web-site, however, showed that by using a BlitzSafe adapter, which plugs into the audio's CD auto-changer connector at the rear of the head unit, it is possible to create an AUX-in to the audio system. Although the car is quite old, the audio system was top of the range when installed (the VW "Monsoon" system, with separate amp). It seemed a waste to throw the whole unit out, especially as it sounds great, and I was also wary of putting in wiring loom and antenna adapters.
The product works really well, and the Autotoys site made it clear that this was exactly the product I needed, as well as showing how to install it. The product was despatched promptly, and I'm delighted with it. Now my premium audio player is fooled into thinking that it is getting sound from the CD autochanger (which I've removed, also giving more boot space, another advantage of undertaking the installation).
So, now I can happily listen to high quality audio from my iPod, even though the audio system was installed (in 2000) before iPods even came into being (in 2001).
Autotoys even threw in a free RCA to 3.5mm jack plug (an additional purchase that would have been necessary with other supplers, but not with Autotoys).
I'm delighted to endorse the helpful people at Autotoys, who have helped me love my car even more and enjoy CD quality music from my iPod and phone."
"My wife purchased a rear view camera from this merchant for Christmas. I waited until spring to install the kit on my 2008 Ford F250. When I unpacked the mirror I saw that it was defective and called to have it warrantied. They told me that it was damaged and there was only a 10 day return policy on the kit. I called Brand Motion who had built the kit ad explained the problem to them and they said it was definitly a warranty issue and it would be covered for one year but it needed to be done through the merchant I had purchased it from. I again called and emailed Auto toys and got no reply. Brand Motion emailed them and explained how to warranty the mirror but they didnt respond to them either. I believe they sold this kit knowing the mirror was defective and decided to pawn it off on someone else. Do not buy from this vendor. They will rip you off and there is not much you can do about it. They say there is a warranty but good luck trying to have them implement it. Buyer beware!!!
The case number on this was UBO-811458. I also have seven emails to the manufacturer that I can reproduce as well as the response from Auto Toys. I have my sent emails to them as well.
The coating on the inside of the mirror was sctatched. This kit had never been installed and still has never been installed. I would have had to take the mirror apart to have done this as the outside was perfect. The manufacturer emailed them several times as well (which I have copies of). They received no response as well. This company is just plain dishonest. First they say I never emailed them, then I produce the ticket number they requested and now they remember I did email them. Then they say they would have warrantied it but after countless phone calls and emails from both me and the manufacturer we did not even get a response, phone call or email. As I said buyer beware!!!!!!"
"The employees at autotoys have lied to me in order to avoid cancelling my border. I requested that the order be cancelled and I was told that they could not cancel the order because it was shipped. Hours later, I received a shipping notification from them. However, when looking at the ups tacking number, ups had not record of the item. I again contact autotoys and they informed me that the item did in fact ship on 7/9. The following evening, ups showed that the item was shipped on 7/10. They lied to me and refuse to let me cancel the order. Now they tell me that if I refuse the item, they will charge me a restocking fee and return shipping costs. What a terrible company. "
