"I attempted to purchase the Canon EOS 30d, when I refused the battery and flash card, they told me to call back in 3 months- they were out of stock.
I called back a couple of days later and told them I wanted the EOS 30d and 2 batteries, and Flash card (yes at there crazy high prices) I ask if I could get the Camera in 10 days- they assured me they could. I then told them I was glad they now have the 30d in stock and only wanted the camera- they hung up on me. "
"On Saturday afternoon, I ordered a Nikon D80 package from the "BestPriceCameras.com" web site after finding it on a price comparison web page, "www.shopcartusa.com". This page had a 5 star rating for this company. Which I have reason, now, to believe was FAKE.
I received an email from them this morning (Monday) which asked me to call to confirm the order. Being very excited to get my camera as soon as possible I called right away. The clerk first asked for the 3 digit code on the back of my CC. Then he asked if I wanted a battery with the camera. He offered a 2 hr or a 4 hr battery. I asked what was the price difference. I chose the lesser price, $160 for the 2 hr battery. Then he askes me if I want glass or plastic lenses. He said the plastic has lots of glare. An extra $112 PER lens for glass! I had two lenses in the package I ordered.
Now I am getting annoyed. I complain to him about the additional prices and he started talking about the ordinarily $1400 camera. He said "don't you think a camera that was priced at the $700 price we advertised was too good to be true?" I told him that was not very good customer relations to be talking like that. We talked about the price he was offering and I said I thought I could do better elsewhere. At this point he had added over $400 to the cost I thought I was going to pay for this camera.
Then he said to me, well you want the battery charger for this. At this point I am getting resistive, but he asked me if I wanted the plastic or metal mount on this camera. I said what does that mean? It seems the camera they offer comes with a plastic connector for the tripod.. and for a price... I didn't ask... you can upgrade THAT!
He wanted to sell me the package for $1400... I said NO that is twice what I had expected to pay for this. He said, "well go buy it somewhere else."
I told him to cancel the order. I am going to call my credit card company to tell them there may be a charge from this company and not to honor it.
I cannot believe this company is still in business!! I wish I had seen THIS review board BEFORE I got baited and switched like this! I would have run!! FAR AND FAST from this company!!

"I placed an order for a camera, pentax K100D from this store and I asked for next day shipping on June 21, 2007. I received a call on Sunday June 24 and the salesman asked me if I wanted to order some batteries with it? I said no, because I already own plenty of re charageable batteries that would fit this camera. He told me that my AA batteries would not work because the batteries would have to match the serial number of the camera in order to work??? what a crock of S#$!. Then he told me that the camera that I ordered was a Japanese model, that if I wanted the US model that would cost another $100.00! Their website clearly state that all products are US products? These guys are the worst bunch of crooks I have seen on the Internet! Someone should shut these types of sites down!"
"I just saw this store was selling a $2000-$2500 camera for $1000 and figured I'd better look it up even though Pricegrabber gives them 5 stars. Glad I did.
A note to some of the other buyers who got scammed, as this site will not allow me to contact you directly:
I was once given the run-around by a similar store. I got my items, but no itemized invoice or even an email receipt, no prices, didn't get my discount, overcharged for shipping, stuff looked old, used and dusty, etc. I called them over and over, emailed them, and then just forwarded all of my correspondence to my credit card company and told them to cancel the charge.
Result? I kept all the stuff they gave me for free. Owned. Free stuff, they lose money, and they lose 100x-returned item so they can't scam the next person.
I'm tempted to buy that Cannon 5D, then hope they ship it and scam me, and then I'll cancel the charge and keep the camera. But then I recall the saying "only the greedy can be conned" so I'm sure something would go wrong with my master plan."
"All of the reviews in this thread are accurate. DO NOT BUY FROM this company. It is a total scam. Thought i would get the Nikon D80 and 18 - 55 lens for $795.00 - too good to be true. got the call from Ken (sales guy) the next day stating that if i wanted a glass lens (where did it say the one in the "kit" was plastic???) i needed to pay $1099.00 . Should have bailed right then. the gear shows up...no warranty card, scuffed box, incomplete items compared to the kit in the stores, random CDs...obviously a con job. these guys claim 100% new...from the manufacturer. yeah, right.
I am currently disputing the purchase through my credit card company and doing everything i can to get out of the transaction. I don't have a problem paying the 10% (minimum) restocking fee just to get rid of these people. Now i am concerned about my personal info!! i am embarrassed to admit i fell for this scam.
Yours truly, another sucka. www.bestpricecameras.com is located at 1965 Mcdonald Ave, Brooklyn NY 11223 in case you live in the city and can go say hello to them. "
"Write the Better Business Bureau! This is a bate and switch company. They advertise low prices on camera bodies but will not sell unless you order high priced accessories with it. I was cursed at and told to "get with the program" when I inquired as to whether or not I could just order the a Canon EOS XTI. If you've had a similar problem with this company post it here and then go to BBB.org. Here's the complaint link: https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/GetStarted.aspx"
"I ordered a Sony A100 DSLR. The BestPriceCameras Web page clearly stated that the camera comes with a 1 Yr USA Warranty with an additional note stating that "Everything we sell comes with a full US Warranty." After three days of hearing nothing further, I called early in the morning of the fourth day to check on the status of my order. I was told I would have to wait to speak with Mark. He finally called me back in mid-afternoon. He then told me the camera does not come with a Manufacturer's USA warranty. It comes with their store warranty. It is a gray-market product. Furthermore, the camera does not come with a battery, charger or anything else. None of this information is stated on their Web page where the camera is offered for sale. Beware of BestPriceCameras.com!!"
"I am so glad I found this website. I offer my contribution to this great service. I believe I was able to cancel my CC in time (cancellation occurred 1.5 hours after placing the order). I sent bestpricecameras.com a few emails stating my order cancellation.
This is a SCAM and feel really stupid for bitting the bait. The numerous descriptions here match almost perfectly with my experience.
Why are they not charged and closed down?
I was so excited about getting such a great deal on my camcorder. I called the customer care guy and as many of you reported I was shoved with unwanted accessories. He told me the camcorder did not come with battery! I started getting suspicious because the price of the must-have accessories were exhorbitant; they more than doubled the unit base price. After researching the web I saw the scam clearly.
Stay away!"
"Tried for a Nikon d80... for $399... not in stock... went for the package with lenses $719... email please call your rep...
Saw this web site... immediately cancelled my CC and the order... I should have done more homework... Here's a common thread...
All these sites are located in NYC or Brooklyn... they are all closed on Saturdays...
Hmmm I'm an ex NYC boy (yep should have known better) and these folks IMO are easy to spot in NYC... It's a scam and I'm embarrassed I fell for it..."
"Buyers BEWARE...These guys got me good. After some clown as* called to confirm the order and a heated exchange I found a couple of forums like this one, which was very helpful in making the quick decision that I got scammed and to cancel my CC."
"Holy Sh** ... I can't believe this place is in business. This is a total scam - and they are so freakin' rude and evil ... Buyer Beware! Do not buy from these people! "
"I placed my original order on 5/29 and when called by Best Price Cameras to "verify" I quickly realized that this was a "bait and switch" operation. On top of that, I was treated very rudely. I cancelled that (original) order. Being stubborn (and liking the price) I re-ordered, however this time I was "onto their scheme" and said "no" to all "add ons", (glass vs plastic lens, etc...) I was then told that this camera was on back order and that I may NEVER even receive it. What a joke. I then researched this company more fully (including this site) and quickly cancelled my order all together. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS OUTFIT. WHAT THEY ARE DOING HAS TO BE ILLEGAL AND THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. If they proceed to ship my order and/or charge my credit card I will be in touch with the local AG. DO NOT LET THE LOW PRICES SUCK YOU IN... YOU WILL EITHER GET RIPPED OFF BY PAYING MORE OR YOU WILL NEVER RECEIVE YOUR ITEM. READ ALL OF THE REVIEWS. THEY HAVE A 0.43 RATING (OUT OF 10!) ENOUGH SAID!"
"Like most of the reviews, I became especially suspicious after speaking with them to confirm my order. My $449 order ended up being $699 with the "necessary accessories" ie battery, charger, software, instruction manual, etc. This of course is after they had my credit card information. When I questioned the amount, they quickly hung up on me.
I immediately called AmEx to see if I had been charged, I had not, and had them place a hold on my account. I then called back to bestpricecameras customer service to cancel my order. They advised me there would be a restocking fee if I cancelled (mind you this is less than an hour after my calling to confirm the order). I informed the "customer service representative" I had already contacted my credit card company, confirmed no charge had been made, and politely asked him to cancel my order.
I was put on hold, for what I can only presume was time enough for them try running the charge on my card. When he picked up again he was beyond surly, but did confirm the order had been cancelled, and told me that "I would never find a better price."
Given the reviews I have seen here and elsewhere, I guess I can be thankful, seems I dodged the bullet. Buyer beware, if it looks too good to be true...

"They almost had me. When I saw how cheaply priced the cannon 30D was.....I knew something had to be wrong. I waited unitl today to call up and verify that the merchandise was "NEW". I was told it was brand new. So the guy I spoke to said I should order online and then call back. I thought that was a bit weird. Anyway, I ordered the Cannon 30D #10 package and a sony HDR-HC7 video camera. I called back and was on hold for 20 minutes. Finally some guy answers and asks for my order number. I gave it to him and he told me to hold. I waited another 10min. Comes back on and tells me that I need to make a decision about the lense Plastic or Glass. Right there I knew something was up again. I said,"What are you talking about". He then told me to hold again. While on hold I researced there site again. And thank god, I found this site resellerratings.com I see I'm not the only one given this B.S. I immediately called my bank and cancelled my card. Luckily, they didnt charge the card so far i THINK. I will call back my bank in a few hours to verify. Hopefully, I will not be charged. WHAT A SCAM THAT SITE IS. WHY ARENT THEY SHUT DOWN YET??????"
" I knew a Nikon d80 (body only) for 299.00 was not possible, but I placed the order anyway. Three day later I received an e-mail from Chris stating camera was not in stock and I would be notified in 6-8 weeks when it was available, however camera was in stock at the time of order. At this point I'm not sure how far I want to push them. I am researching if they truly must honor the order I did contact them by phone, which made me even more p*ssed because I talked the biggest bozo in the world. If they had a retail store I'd drive their and put my size 13 in somebody's a**. I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome"
