"I didn't make a purchase. This was an order number. I tried to contact them because I hadn't received confirmation that the order had been processed, and they informed me the camera didn't come with a battery or charger, and it would be another $300 for those 2 items. When I tried to cancel the order, they wanted to charge me a $69 or more restocking fee, because they supposedly they had sent the order. They told me on the phone that they didn't take Discover, when their website clearly said they did. I gave them a different credit card number, and then they told me the order had already been sent out. How did it get sent out when they didn't even have a credit card number for it? They lied to me and their website is deceptive."
"I saw that they were offering package #10
http://www.bestpricecameras.com/prodetails.aspx?prodid=556942
on EOS 30D with 17-85mm lens for only $879 and free shipping, so I ordered online and called them up at 4.53 pm Terry picked up and he said yes, price includes charger and the battery and placed me on hold.
At 4.58 pm Shawn picked up phone and said, no the package is actully not vavilable now, we are out of stock and put me on hold.
At 5.01pm Roy picked up the phone and said no, it does not comes with the charger and battery and placed me hold (they won't let you say anything...put on hold so fast...
At 5.03pm Richard picked up the phone and imediatelly put me hold...
At 5.11 pm James picked up the phone and start speaking Russian with me. When I asked him why he is speaking Russian with me, he said that Richard told him that I can't speak English only Russian. I said I am not Russian,I can understand and speak Russian, but I insist to speak English.
So, he immediately told me that the CANON EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS lens are very cheap and you can use it only inside of the buildings, but I can upgrade you to the better professional one SIGMA 28-70mm f/2.8-4 DG High Speed Compact Zoom Aspherical Pro Lens which is $599, but I can give you only for $30 more, so your total will be $879 + $30 = $909 I agreed, since I am a beginner I believed him that he is giving me a best deal. Than he said I have to buy the battery and the charger and I have to pay shipping cost.
I told him to send me an e-mail with the total amount, in the meantime I will research Sigma lenses and etc. I specifically told him NOT to charge my Credit Card yet, since I want to confirm order, before I go ahead. My fault was that I gave him over the phone security numbers on my card.
He was trying to sell me a lots of other things, while I was on the phone and he also plased me several times on hold and it seems to me like they are all in rush, so busy...So, buy 6.03pm I got off the phone with him. During our conversation he also told me that he has to make sure that this package is at least $1299 otherwise his company won't ship out the package. His exact wording was: They will play game with you telling that we are out of stock and etc...(Can you imagine??!!!)
When I called him back at 6:09 pm, there was no answer and I left him message telling that I still din't receive an e-mail from him and I want to make sure that the order didn't go through. Then I called him second time stating I do not want this order at all, I am canceling it, because I saw that this Sigma cost only $80 on Amazon and $126 on B&H.
Please note: I HAVE NEVER EVEN CONFIRMED THE ORDER IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Their website sais that they are open from 9.30 am-11pm, so I start calling them till 10.30pm and I also immediately send him an e-mail explaining that I do not want this order. I actually send him 5 e-mails and left 3 voice messages. No respond to my e-mails or my voice messages.
At 8 pm I contacted my Amex and equested them DO not accept any charges from Best Price Cameras. Amex told me that the charge already came through!!! I can't believe it.
Today in the morning at 9.27 am I got James on the phone, since he gave my his Ext 286. He was so rude, errogant, calling me names in Russian. He told me that the package already was shipped yesterday, but he wouldn't give me the tracking number or where it was shipped from and just blantly denied that I didn't authorize him to process this order. He told me that I am crazy and he is going to hung up on me. When I told him that I already have read online all about their tactics and I am prepared and I warned him that I will start recording now everything what he will say, he transfered me to him manager Dennis Lipps.
Dennis tryed the same he just won't let me talk and I told him I will conference in my lawyer and only them he said: OK, we will cancel the order, but will charge you " a little bit" 10% for cancelation fee. I said, no, you can't charge me a penny, since I never conformed my order. Dennis eventually told me "OK, ma'am we will return 100% of your money"
Boy, it took so much of my time and energy...but I still don't beleive them till I get my money back. Right now it is 4.47 pm and I just received an e-mail from Amex stating that I haven't receive any money from them yet...
CRIMINALS, THEY SHOULD BE IN JAIL!!!
When I
"
"These guys are criminal! A rip-off, bait-and-switch SCAM! They have over 600 BBB complaints and are being investigated by the FBI Internet Crime group. AVOID THESE GUYS LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!"
"Scam pure and simple! These guys are rude and abrasive. Yhey msirepresent their prices and offerings. When calling hold times are extravagent and the representative was a total jerk! NEVER EVER do busines with these folks unless you like getting ripped off"
"Going against my better judgement. And thinks it's got to be to good to be true. Also before finding this website. I too became a anothe causalty to this company's bait and switch tactics.
Figuring that it's too good to be true I contact the company via phone to inquire about the Canon XL2 that they where offering at a 1/3 of the price. They proceed to tell me that was the price and they did have it in stock. Though I found it a little strange that they asked me to finish the order online since I had already started to order process.
I placed the order and 10 mins later received an email that stated I could call in to expedite the order otherwise wait 24-72 hours for the order to be processed. Where they tried to sell me the lens and the viewfinder and made it seem like it was an upgraded items. When asked with ones were on the camcorder they told me none. At that time I proceed to cancel the order and they wanted to charge me a 15% restocking fee, on what? I told them I was not going to pay it and that any charges from them would be disputed. where I was threaten to do so.
I called back a second time and told them that my lawyer would be contacting them shortly with an ultimatum. either honor the price for the entire camera as shown on their website or return the items without any restocking fees. At which they ignored me and told me to go ahead and try.
10 mins after the phone call I received a message stating that my order had completely been cancelled without any restocking fees."
"I ordered online. I got a call during a meeting and basically said yes to confirming the order. Then when it dawns on me what I agreed to I called back immediately within the hour and tried to cancel and they told me the item had been shipped. I immediately called my credit card company who saw the charge and had already flagged it for their fraud division and they were going to contact me within 24 hours to check on it. Long story short they have already placed the charge in dispute since I tried to cancel it immediately. When I finally get back to the company they tell me there is a $150.00 restock fee since the item was shipped, which was impossible. Everything about this was bad but fortunately to this point my Credit card comapny is helping me out. Do not do business with this company."
"Thankfully I didn't order from this company. I got all the way to the check out (on the phone with a rep) and they told me I needed an additional $900 firm ware for the camera to run. Now why wasn't this listed on the prices/options with everything else? Also, the package didn't come with a charger, so they wanted to sell me one of those for $500. Thanks for this ratings forum! "
"I placed an order today for a Canon EOS rebel XT with 18-55 mm lens & package. I knew it sounded too good to be true. Unfortunately I was tempted & ordered against my better judgement. It seemed strange to me that the confirmation didn't include a total or item verification.
I wish I had read the reviews on this site prior to placing the order. I am having no luck getting through to anyone to cancel the order and the credit card company said they can't do anything until the charge is placed on our card.
Wow, do I feel foolish!
After a lot of jumping through hoops and many phone calls, mainly sitting on hold, I was able to get them to cancel the order as it had not shipped they couldn't argue it too much. Not that they didn't try. Their catch is exactly what most of you warned about...they remove the battery, cables and owners manual from the original factory packaging. All that will cost you at the very least another $150 above what you see. Save your time and energy, go with a reputable on-line store. I won't make that mistake again."
"help!! i made a purchase from this store...and shortly after, i found this site!! Well, of course i called to cancel the order, but the thing is, they told me the order has already been shipped and they can't cancel. What should I do? Should I just cancel my credit card anyway?"
"I placed an order online and received an e-mail the next day to confirm my order. I was asked if I wanted to upgrade my lens to the metal one? I explained that all Canon L lenses are metal mounted and the photo of the item I on the website matches the correct item, please just ship me the item. I was then told that it is on back order and won't ship for 3-4 days. A month later, no lens, no order, just a steady stream of e-maisl saying that my item is on back order"
"This company is a bait and switch scam. It goes under the name of bestpricecameras.com, infinitiphoto.com, jandkcameras.com. Any order you make will not be fulfilled if you are just purchasing a camera body. They make thier money by purchasing OEM camera bodies and then overcharging for the lens, battery, and accessories. If you don't wish to purchase the lens, battery or accessories your order will conveniently become "back-ordered". Stay away. While I can't prove it, I smell ID Theft as a side business."
"Yes, I KNOW better than to succomb to the lure of a cheaper (not by much) price and immediate (free!) delivery...but my lust for a new Nikon 18-200 VR lens go the better of me, so instead of waiting for my beloved B&H to get the lenses in stock, I did some shopping.
I found this site through www.best-price.com and they offered a good price and free shipping. They had the item in stock, so I ordered it last Friday.
On Saturday, while I was at a shoot, some guy named "Ken" called my house AND e-mailed me supposedly to "confirm" my order with me. Fortunately my hubby woudln't give him my mobile #, which he repeatedly asked for.
Today, the guy calls me again and proceeds to try and upsell me (to the tune of $200) on the version of this same lens with a "metal coupler?!" WTF? Thankfully, I am VERY familiar with the lens, and when he said this I said "WHAT??!" I questioned him doggedly and every time I did, he dropped the "upgrade" price another $20! When it was finally down to a mere $79 more than I had originally agreed to, I said "you mean to tell me that you think I BELIEVE Nikon makes two different versions of the exact same lens for the US Market, one with a plastic coupler and one with metal?" that he backpedalled and backpedalled and said "ooooohhhh....oooh...I meant you should upgrade to the three-pack of filters instead of the one UV filter you already bought!!" I said, "NO, all I want is one inexpensive UV filter and the lens. THATS IT!" (I shoudl have backout out at this point!) Then he had the gaul to try to sell me a lens hood when the lens already comes packaged with one!!! Good thing I knew what I was looking at...
But WAIT...after all this he then tells me that the total is roughly $27 higher than the e-mail confirmation said. I argued that there was no way...and he insisted that there was a 3% insurance charge. I argued that NO...it said clearly ALL OVER the product page AND the invoive that I already received that UPS Ground Shipping was FREE and that I am not paying an additional $30 for this bullsh*t!
He, of course, grew indignant, cussed me out, yelled that he was just going to cancel the f-ing order and then hung up on me! I just called their customer service 6 times, waited on hold FOREVER, then when I asked to speak with a manager they (I think it was the same guy) were evasive, woudln't give me his name and when he said he was connecting me, he just put me on terminal hold (for a total of over an hour!!)
Needless to say, I immediately reported this to my credit card company and wrote a vicious e-mail to the price serch engine web site that referred me to this company.
ARRGGHH!
So, the moral fo the story is:
1. Don't act on impulse,
2. Buy from trusted vendors
3. Do your research BEFORE you buy. If I had not had an intimate knowledge of this lens (because I have lusted for it for nearly a year!) I may have gotten scammed out of a couple hundred extra dollars!!
4. check retailer ratings services like this one before you even begin to THINK about placing an order!

"Offered a new projector for sale and then called to say bulb was not includded! $295 extra for the bulb or a $169 cancellation fee. Finally agreed to cancel for no fee.
Sounds like fraud to me. Who sells a new projector without a bulb?!"
"This is the strangest bait and switch I have heard of. Malaysian or English versions of Canon 30D body. Here is the verbatim of my conversation which I sent to ****@****:
"I spoke with a sales rep (after 30 minutes on hold) who told me the Canon 30D body was in stock.
I said I wanted to order it.
He transferred me to a non-working line and I was disconnected
I ordered the product online, for $649, with USA Warranty.
I then spent another 30 minutes getting a busy signal.
I then waited another 30 minutes on hold)
I asked your sales rep when my Canon 30D body would be shipped.
He said 3 to 6 weeks.
I said okay.
He then asked if I wanted the English or Malaysian version.
I said English.
He said that would be $1,099.
I asked if they both came with the USA Warranty.
He said Yes.
I asked what was the difference.
He said functionality, then asked if I wanted to keep or cancel the order.
I canceled this order."

"Best Price Cameras advertised a Canon 30D camera (body only) for $419.00. The Canon 30D is a pro-grade metal-bodied camera. I understood that what was being sold was everything one normally gets with a camera, including battery, charger, software, cables, manuals, etc., but without the lense. Since this was a very good price, I placed and order over the internet. I called several times over the next days, each time during the middle of the day, only to hear the message that the sales department was closed. Finally, I was able to reach them, and learned that not only had the camera not been shipped, but also that what Best Price intended to ship was only a camera body, but with nothing else, no battery, charger, software, cables, manuals, etc., or lense. Worse yet, the body was manufactured in China out of plastic, not metal, and had no US warranty. I told the salesman that I wanted to cancel the order. After being threatened with a huge cancellation fee, I agreed to go ahead with the order. A couple of days later, when I called to check on progress, as I had not received an email that shipment had been made, I was informed that my credit card had not gone through. This was a curious statement to me, given the fact that it was a debit card linked to an account with over $40,000 in it. In that conversation, I was also informed by the salesman that I had ordered not a $419 gray market camera body, but an $1,150 US made Canon camera with all accessories and warranty, but without lense. I couldn't believe it. When I told him I wanted to cancel as a result of his bait and switch, high pressured, and fraudulent sales and billing tactics. He again threatened to charge my credit card with huge cancellation fees. I finally disengaged myself from him, called my bank, and ultimately had to close my account to prevent the charges from being made. These people are absolute crooks! Please put this message out to help keep others from being similarly mistreated. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!"
