"I tried to order the Panasonic AG-DVC7 for a really good price - too good to be true. The next morning I was called back and informed I had ordered an "empty case" without "firmware" and needed to purchase an upgrade package, which was not mentioned on the website, and brought the price to $200 over amaazon.com price. Lots of pressure from the sales rep to upgrade or cancel the order - I cancelled. I tried to call back to talk to someone else, but got the same guy (after being on hold for 10 minutes), he hung up on me as soon as I mentioned my name..."

"I wish I would have found this review site before I placed my order. After I completed my on-line purchase of my 40" LCD TV, I was contacted on my phone number to confirm a number of things. I was asked about buying an extended warranty, which I refused, I was also offered another package with the tv that contained a wall mount and other items, which I refused. Then I was told the item would be on backorder for 4-6 weeks. So basically, the tv is only available if I purchase their overpriced package with warranty. So I cancelled my order and took my business to a competitor. Very deceptive, these fellows are!"

I currently own a GL1 which I am extremely pleased and I knew I was only getting the basic camera, without batteries, charger, cabels, etc. But do you have two different models of the GL2?
I felt really taken by this company. I cancelled the order, but would like to hear the truth from Canon.
We use nothing but Canon camera here at the Technology Center and have purchased hundreds of Canon cameras in the past few months and have always been pleased with the service they have provided.
This has thrown me for a loop. Any answer to the two different lens issue??

"Avoid this company at all costs. If your credit card has not been charged yet, call your CC company and request a new account number IMMEDIATELY. I was taken by their ad last night for a sony camcorder at a great price, but immediately noticed they were a fraud when I did a search for the company name and came here. I verified no charges were put against my account that are suspicious since I made the transaction.

Just for haha's, I called the company to cancel my order and sure enough, I was on hold for 20 minutes and eventually disconnected. I never even spoke to anyone. Crooks!

Change your account numbers folks, or cancel the CC you used. If you don't, they have your info and you will most likely be screwed in the future when you least expect it by fraud charges.

Internet crimes like this are becoming more and more popular these days.

Some side advice....NEVER pay for anything using a paypal account if it's not an Ebay purchase!
If you do, make sure you switch to a CC on file and NEVER transfer directly from your bank account.

This is the 2nd time I've been screwed by an internet scam. The first time around was when I was purchasing Ipods for the holiday's.
I've been making purchases online for nearly 10yrs now and just recently have started to learn the hardway.

Paypal has ZERO protection against getting your money back. CC's however do thank goodness.

"My husband had done extensive research in locating a digital video camera for me to purchase for my middle school classroom with grant money I had received. He looked at the sales ratings on the website (from ratingsplanet, geotrust, shopcartusa.com), and since all were good, we decided to order from them. We placed the online order on 1/24 and received a thank you email.

When after three weeks I had not received the camera, I emailed the customer service line and received notification that I would get a response within 72 hours--dated Dec 2005, go figure. I got no response. After I returned from a trip, I called the customer service hotline. The representative (Trevor) informed me that my item was on back order and that I had both received an email and a phone call to that effect. He said that I had talked with David and confirmed my purchase. When I said that I hadn't, he told me I didn't know what I was talking about, that he could forward the email and that he had my voice on tape. I asked him to do both, at which point he got angry with me. I asked him to cancel the order, but he hung up on me instead.

I called back and asked to speak to his supervisor and Trevor said it was useless, since he didn't answer to anyone and that I would be the only person he could deal with, so I had better just get used to that. At that point, all I wanted was a confirmation of the order cancellation. He hung up on me again, saying, "You don't have to worry about it...you are no longer a customer."

I received a nasty email back after my phone conversation with a fake "attachment" of the order cancellation. After that episode, I checked with my credit card company, and to my relief, nothing had been charged. I got my cc company to change my card number so no further damage can be done.

I reported this company to the Better Business Bureau of NY.

"STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Very similar tricks. They ask you to call to confirm the order. When you call, they try to sell you more. When you refuse to buy, they charge your credit card for more than $500. When you call to complain, they ask for a reference number. Once you say it, they put you on hold and will not pick up the phone. I found this on eBay and thought it was a legitimate company. They also oporate under the following names:

"I must totally agree with everyone who has posted. This company is a complete fraud. I placed my order for a Panasonic PT-AX100U projector. I received a confirmation email but there was no total price listed. Just a number to call to confirm my order. I called Ken at the number and he proceeded to give me the same line of crap as everybody else. The projector did not come with a bulb and he wanted to know why I hadn't ordered a bulb. I told him that I had been researching this projector for over a month and it did indeed come with a bulb from the factory. He wanted to argue with me and proceeded to "cut me a deal" but that the total was going to be around 1600 dollars. I told him that I could get it cheaper elsewhere, and I was concerned that they did not list the fact the projector didn't come with a bulb on the website. And why this "bulb package" he was selling me was also not listed. He told me if I was seeing it cheaper at other places these places were scamming me. I told him I felt he was the one who was the one doing the scamming and I would like to cancel my order. He then told me that the order had already been processed and there would be a 200 dollar restocking fee. I asked him if the order had already been processed why did I need to call to confirm the order? He was very rude and said he would just cancel my order and hung up. I promptly sent him an email asking him for written confirmation of the cancellation. I started really getting concerned when obviously I did not get a response back. I then found this site today. Thank you all!!! There were no charges to my CC as of today so I called my CC company and canceled the card.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!
This site probably saved me from having to dispute some bad CC charges down the road.

"My extensive research for a Mitshubishi projector HD1000U had brought me to this online store. I reviewed the rating, and it was good to do business (my first txn with this bestpricecameras.com). Now I wonder how they got this rating!

Regardless, the automatic email contained only the order#, and nothing else. The usual things that one expect from a legitimate merchant like qty, sku, desc, unit cost, tax, s/h, etc... This immediately raised my eyebrows. So I called, and called, and called... I said to myself it's a ... Saturday(!) Monday morning, I called, and called, and eventually got connected to a guy, whose phone manner was worse than a street drunken. He refused to give me his name. After giving him my order#, I inquired him of what I'd purchased, he told me that I'd purchased a "camera for $6,500". I realized that my time was waisted, and that I'm dealing with the most horrible online shopping experience ever.
To make the long story short, I ended up got the ordered cancelled, and make my online purchased elsewhere.

I learned two new (and disappointedly surprising) things: a) I'm not looking at the rating the same way any more; and b) always check out / confirm the 'claimed' rating with this resellerratings.com.

"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SHADY COMPANY!!! I ordered a Canon Elura 100 camcorder for what I thought was a great price. Then I received an email asking me to call a rep who then told me that I had to buy a battery for $129.99 that elsewhere cost under $60.00. He then told me that he would throw in a UV filter worth more than $80 if I ordered then. I did that and just received the whole package. The filter is a worthless dollar store item. I called customer service to ask about my invoice which was not itemized - the total amount for the so-called "package deal" was higher than what was quoted me on the phone - but I was put on hold several times, was transferred from one person to another several times, and everyone I spoke with was incredibly, incredibly rude. I will never buy from www.bestpricecameras.com again. NEVER! A horrible shopping experience from a fraudulent, bait-and-switch seller."

"I was very upset. After looking for the best deal for two weeks I thought I had found it. Then the sales guy called me and told me that my camera wouldn't work unless I spent $200.00 more for the software and cables. I have never heard of a camera coming from a manufacturer and not working unless you buy the cables and software. Maybe I don't know much about cameras....but my instinct tells me he is lying and trying to sell me something that is not needed. I told him that I didn't want the "extra package" so he told me fine I'll cancel it. Why can't I purchase it with out your "package". "because it won't work"........[I WOULD LIKE TO ASK CANON ABOUT THAT....]I WAS BORN AT NIGHT...BUT NOT LAST NIGHT!!"

"I was interested in their low prices so I ordered from them and was ALMOST content until I realized something was a bit odd. I didnt recieve an invoice or total price, or any kind of proof of purchase except a confirmation number. I called the 800 number provided in the e-mail I recieved, and spoke to an unnamed representitive who asked me for my credit card number so he could confirm my order. I told him that wasn't neccesary and asked to speak to someone else. I was transfered to a hostile representive to whom I gave my confirmation number. After he read me what I had ordered, he kept asking me if I understood what I was buying. I repeatedly told him I understood to which he became more and more hostile in his tone until finally he told me I needed to buy an upgrade packaga and batteries and he was "just helping me out" and not to be "stupid". I was becoming fed up with being treated like some kind of animal, so I attempted to cancel my order with them, which made him completely lose control.

He kept telling me if I canceled my order there would be a 15% cancelation fee, and a 5% restocking fee. I immediatly hung up and checked with my bank to see if any charges had been made.

After the nightmare of being on the phone for a half hour, I then had to call my bank and completely cancel that card.

More should be done about these scam artists.

"BEWARE! If you shop with them, know that they will misrepresent prices on items. Be very careful with the prices they post on the Internet. It's a set-up for the phone call to lure you into a seemingly great deal with hidden and unexplained costs. When asked to explain costs they are evasive and rude.

"How I wish I had come to this site first!

Looking for a hard-to-find lens, aware that it turns up briefly and should be snapped up when it does, I was delighted to find it advertised at a fair price. I ordered it and got an Email requesting that I call "to confirm the order." That's when the disinformation started: "You want glass or plastic?" (There is no plastic model of the lens). "The filters you need are $250." (Don't need any filters.) "Better get the five year extended warranty, $100." (It's included by the manufacturer.) "You need a case, $50." (It's in the box.) I called back to inquire about the glass/plastic options "It's on the manufacturer's website." No, it isn't. There is no glass vs. plastic option.

My credit card has not been charged yet. I'm not sure what recourse I have if they send me the lens and charge what they say I agreed to. Returning it entails a 10% restocking fee IF I get prior authorization to return the product -- something others have had trouble with.

My story may not yet be completed, but certainly I wish it were. I join the chorus: DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!

"Very deceptive marketer. I ordered a Sony camcorder at a very attractive price. I received an e mail 5 days later advising me to call to verify the order. The rep then asked what battery I wanted to add to the order as the unit did not include one. I declined to add a battery & he then asked what battery charger I wanted. I cancelled the entire order as this is clearly a very dishonest vendor.

My advice is to stay away.

"My son placed an order with this company for a Canon lens at a very good price (now I know why it was such a good price). Then we received a call stating that we forgot to order the filter kit that goes with this camera. When we told him we did not want the filters, he tried to tell us you had to have the filters with the lens. We told him no thank you. Then he tried to get us to upgrade from a "plastic" lens to a high resolution glass lens at an increased price. We again declined. He continued to try other avenues, but we had to leave and could not continue to talk. When we told him that, he told us it would take more than 3 weeks to complete the order and suggested that we cancel the order. We declined and told him we would wait. We suspected then that the low price was a scam they use to lure you in and then get you to order other items which make up the price difference, but we decided to wait a while and give them the benefit of the doubt. When I called again to check on the status of the order, they said it was still "back ordered." My son called the very same day to order the same lens and was told that it was in stock and ready to ship; however, they also told him that they couldn't give him the price, that he would have to get the price from the internet (what is that?). When I called customer service back to complain that when we placed the order we were told it was in stock, he gave some story about them not getting them in because they were not a Canon authorized dealer and Canon ships to Canon authorized dealers first. When I asked him how long it would be before they got them, he could not give me an answer. When I then told him that my son had just called his company to order this lens and was told the lens was in stock and ready to ship, he talked in circles for quite some time, different mounts, different companies, etc. and kept offering to cancel our order. When I told him that I checked with Canon and there were no variances in this lens, he told me to just order from Canon then. He went on and on about how long they had been in business, etc. At that point, I told him to keep the order in tact and tried to get an answer out of him as to when they expected to get them in. He could not give me an answer again stating they had no way of knowing because they are not a Canon authorized dealer and they ship to Canon authorized dealers first. After thinking about everything he said and how extremely bogus all of his statements were, I called back and cancelled the order. I then called the camera shop I usually do business with (and now I really know why I keep returning to them), he confirmed that there were no variances in this lens. When I voiced my suspicions about a company we were dealing with, he suggested that I visit this site. I am so incredibly thankful that we cancelled our order and that they hadn't already charged anything. After reading these reviews, we consider ourselves very, very lucky that we were able to cancel it when we did. For your own sanity, I would highly recommend that you NOT deal with this company. Phewwwww! "
