I made an order for a Canon Rebel XTi at an unbelievably low price (I know, I know). I received a confirmation email which just had an order number and no details. I got suspicious and did a bit of background checking on the company, it didn't take long to find out that I should be worried.

I emailed them to cancel the order, and just got an automated reply. I then got the "order confirmation" phonecall from Chris where I repeated that I would be cancelling my order - "okay, not a problem", then hung up while I was still talking.

10 days later there was an airline booking for Barcelona on my credit card for $217. Given that this was the first company I had given my card details to, and given the history of this happening to other people, surely there is enough evidence to convict these blatant criminals.

Don't make my mistakes.

* Treat very low prices suspiciously.
* Check a company's reputation before you pass over your details."

"Camera was priced @ $629 on company's website. After I got done accepting all of the "required" extras, the price had risen to $950. Was told the camera would ship immediately, yet was unable to get tracking number sent to me, despite paying for the shipping insurance. I can't get through to anyone that says they can help me via their phone numbers.

Edit: Received the camera, two weeks after ordered, by 2-day UPS.

Warning: One week after ordering, someone tried to charge $500 to my credit card on epassport.com. It was a new card, and the only time I had used it was to order said camera. I can't prove it was these guys, but I'm sure it had something to do with them."

"I ordered an american model camera for seller. The sent an e-mail saying I had to confirm my order. THey told me that I would have to purchase an extra battery. Then told me that if I did not buy there warranty I could only get a foreign model. Not the one I purchased. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told no one was there to talk to me. And that my order will not be sent beucase I will not pay for the warranty. I was then hung up on. I called back and, what a surprize, a manager was present only to tell me that they do not have the american model even tough they had a picture of the american model with the exact name ( the foriegn one has a different name). This is horrible customer service. They told me that I should just pay for it beucase I could not get it anywhere cheaper. but 5 minutes more on the internet and I am getting the american model( I called just in case) and for 10 dollars less. This company is operating under 2-3 different names, I know this because I ordered 2 lens for my D200 Nikon from bestpricecameras.com. Although now I am a bit nervous because this company has my credit card number! They advertise super low prices, which are appealing, but you will never pay that price. When you call they are VERY rude in trying to sell you accessories that they claim you NEED, although when I ordered by Canon 20D, I knew that if it was a factory fresh box as they claim, it would come with a charger, battery and pc cord. They told me it didn't come with any of these, so they open the boxes and take out the accessories and then make you pay outrageous prices for them. And..if you don't want to, like I said, they will tell you your order is backordered for 4-6 weeks and then you will never receive it. I am doing everything I can to get them out of business, and I encourage you to as well! Just read all the reviews and you will get even more mad that they continue to scam innocent people!!

"Darn, I wish I'd found this website before I made my purchase. Bought a Nikon digital slr with a lense package, and my story is basically the same as everyone else's. A fast-talking "customer service" (snort) rep called to confirm my order, and asked if I wanted a battery with my camera. It doesn't come with a battery?!? Anyway, $500+ later I've got a camera. Which does work, but it came with the user's guide (on cd) in Japanese.

It would not surprise me if these guys are involved in organized crime in some way: Russian Mafia, perhaps. Speculation only.

I even tried twice to leave a poor rating on the ratings service they link to on their website ("Ratings Planet), and neither was posted. Surprise, surprise.

I wish the NYC authorities would get involved and shut these guys down, although they're probably paid not to.

"I ordered a camera and lens kit they advertised for a really good price. The next day I received an email telling me to call them to confirm my order which I thought was odd. (The other thing that was odd is that you never get a "real list or invoice" when you check out). The sales rep explained that the camera I had ordered wasn't a retail camera but one made in China and was made of plastic instead of aluminium. That would cost me an extra $250.00 or so. He then told me that the lens included in the kit weren't good quality because they were made of plastic or fiberglass and would have distortion unless I upgraded. That would mean an extra $260.00 which he claimed was a great deal. When I asked more questions (and quite frankly started to get annoyed) he started saying anything he could come up with. I quickly replied he didn't make sense and told him he wasn't giving me any real explanation and would not go along with it. When I told him all I wanted is what I ordered at the price advertised he told me they no longer had the camera in stock. Such BS. I told him to cancel the order. He said "fine" and hung up on me. I have been closely monitoring my credit card activity online to make sure they don't charge me for anything. Would never, never, ever do business with them. I will follow the advise from another person who rated them and file a complaint with The Better Business Bureau and let everyone know. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!!!"

"In my search for a good price on a Sony SR100 Camcorder I ran across this poor excuse for a company. They seemed to have a really good price for a whole package of items. So good that according to the list price for the individual components I would be getting the camera for free. So I decided to by the camcorder as a premium package kit complete with all the trimmings. The very next day (same case as all of the other review I have since read) a "salesperson" called me to confirm my order and up-sell me on more items for my kit. He told me that the camera package I had ordered came with a 2X and wide angle lenses that had plastic lenses and would I like to upgrade to glass lenses for $200 instead of the normal $300 that the lenses are worth. So I accepted this and he continues to tell me that I should buy a AC battery charger for the camera since it only comes with an adaptor to plug it in to a cigarette lighter in a car. How much? Yet another $200 but only while I am on the phone otherwise it is $300. So I ask can I return it if I don't want it after it gets here. Of course the sales person says. So I get that too. Now my bill for $1200 just went to $1600. Now I am starting to think that I am going to pay them for the camera too.

At least a week goes by before I finally get a confirmation that my order has been shipped and will arrive on the 26th. I come home to find my $1600 dollar package sitting on my door step. Good thing no one stole it off my door step. So I take it inside and start going through everything. I find my $200 dollar charger and look at how small it is and think how can this be worth $200? I opened the camcorder to find that it has an AC cord but no DC unlike what the sales person told me so I didn't really need the charger any way. So I decide to return it. Just to know I Googled the charger to see how much it is worth. One site had the exact same charger for $28.95! Not a typo! Less then thirty dollars! When I called to return they tell me that the best that the can offer me is $150 to return it. After a rather long heated discussion they finally gave me the RMA# and said that they would refund the $200. Well see.

Another slime ball thing is the package said that the charger will charge a battery in 60-90 minutes and these idiots tell me that it will do it in 30 minutes and that is why it is so expensive.

Stay away from this company!!! Tell your friends as well!!

Just to update... I returned my charger and purchased one from Overstocked.com for less then $30. I did finally get my $200 back from BPC. One other point of contention I have with them is that I purchased a level 4 kit that is supposed to have an 8 hour battery included. Only battery sent was the one that comes with the camera and is less then a 2 hour battery. In fact the np-fp90 battery offered by sony only lasts for something like 4 hours. So yet an other great example of false advertisement on Best Price Cameras part. I also changed my credit card number to avoid bogus charges by this company."

After a call to Sony, nobody that I spoke to could confirm the existence of an OEM package, and if there were one, it would have a SKU noting that.

When I called to expedite the shipping salesman told me that he would not sell the camera without battery and charger. I said OK - add the cheapest ones. "LISTEN TO ALL THE COMMENTS!! DO NOT BUY FROM BESTPRICECAMERA or INFINITY PHOTO or J&K CAMERAS or whatever other aliases they use. I thought I was getting a great deal. Who could pass up a package deal for $400, including a battery, lens cleaner, tapes, tripod, etc, when the actual camera cost $350. I couldn't believe how much cheaper it was with the accessories, and I SHOULDN'T HAVE. It was too good to be true. I calculated the total shipping and cost plus tax and it SHOULD have come out to $389, but imagine my surprise when I saw a charge on my bank account for $671!
WTF?! I was so surprised I went to my bank and thought somebody had stolen my credit card. I called the number and found out it was Infinity Photo. I got suspicious and googled bestpricecamera and read some REAL reviews, not the fake ones from "satisfied" customers from "John from NY" that they post on their own website. My heart dropped when I realized that I was a victim of their scam. I didn't know what to do so I quickly called and cancelled my order. Ironically, they put me on hold for about 10 minutes and the recording kept saying "We won't ship until we confirm, and we won't charge you until we ship!"
They NEVER confirmed. They DID charge me (outrageously overpriced from what they said). And they did ship. The "supervisor" (it was probably the dude's brother or some bs) came on and said that they could take the shipment back, but I would have to pay a 10% restocking fee. I was so upset at the time that I agreed. I'm hoping to see a refund in my account in the next couple of days. If not, believe that I will call again!
And again, I really hope that they don't steal my credit card and use it for their own nefarious purchases.
I am VERY VERY FRUSTRATED that I had to deal with people like this. Why do they put so much effort into causing misery from other people, just to take money from them? They should all burn down under and be legally TAKEN DOWN!! One day, they are going to mess with a lawyer and they will GO DOWN!!
