"I, like many others, found the prices on the BestPriceCameras website to be irresistible. I tried to research the company on the internet to find out its reputation since they were not listed on PriceGrabber or epinions (should have taken that as an omen!). I did not find anything about the company, so I went ahead an ordered the camera (Canon Digital Rebel XT, silver, body only, listed at $569). I was anxious to get the order in because a rebate was being offered and would expire in a couple of weeks from my order date in January. I placed the order online, using my credit card. Moments after submitting the order, I got a call from "Adam" asking to confirm my PIN number on the credit card. (Why??) He then pushed the accessories and batteries and tried to get me to add to the order. I didn't, and then he told me that the camera was backordered, and would be 2 weeks. Well, it wasn't backordered until I refused the extras he was selling. I called later and asked anonymously if the Rebel was available or backordered, and the salesperson said it was in stock and would I like to order. The two weeks went by. I needed the camera before the rebate expiration date. I called and asked when I would get it, and again spoke to Adam. He told me that the camera was now backordered for 3 more weeks, maybe 4. When I asked if that was solid information (after all, he told me before that it was 2 weeks, why should I believe him this time?), he got very aggressive and became extremely rude and offensive. I realized I had been scammed and called later to cancel my order. They didn't seem to actually have my order in their system so it didn't take much work for them to cancel it. They didn't ask for an order number, just my name. Well, I was comfortable enough with this pseudo-cancellation because within days of my submitting my credit card number to their site, my bank called to ask if I had made a political contribution in the UK for one dollar. Of course I had not. The bank said this was a "tester" and that someone was checking to see if we were paying attention to the charges on the card, so we had to cancel the card. This coincided nicely with my cancellation of the camera order, so now I don't have to worry that they will be able to charge anything on my card. RUN at full speed away from this company. There are several others with these extremely low prices and they all seem to be based in NJ or NY. "

"Warning! This company has many tricks to force you into buying.

I placed an order for Nikon D70S camera and a new 18-200mm lens. They told me the low price I saw on the web was for a model that's a 4 Megapixel and I need to pay $200 more for the upgraded one, when the fact is that Nikon only makes 6.1 MP. When I wanted to cancel the order, they told me that the order number is wrong so I couldn't do it. Then I recieved the package and they actually sent me a Sigma brand 18-200mm lense which costs $400 less than the lens I want. And if you want to return, you have to pay at least %10 for restocking.

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!! Or you'll lost $$ like me.

"Same problem as almost eveyone elses' comments. I bought a Canon EOS Rebel XT was sold the battery upgrade,was missing a few items and I wanted to return some items but was told I return everything or nothing. Was coerced into signing the agreement to pay $75 plus 10% and was told that if I did not sign no RMA# would be issued so I figured sign and dispute with Master CArd. I got everything back but $226. I'm glad I went this route as if I had waited beyond the return period I would have recovered nothing, but I am furious with Citibank as after 5 months they now side with merchant on the $226. These guys At BestPrice belong in one place and that is behind bars permanently. All of them are too stupid to make an honest living. With hindsight, I should have disputed payment on my credit card immediately and closed the account and let Citibank chase me. At this time, the best thing we can all do is continue to share our experiences with Best Price and eventually these guys will be put out of business. Since I got burned, between my wife, college age kid and myself we have steered quite a few people away from these scam artists, probably close to $100,000 in sales as many in our circle were after the SLR type digital cameras, and we will continue to do so. When it comes to people like this you cannot forgive, you must get even. "

"Well here is my horror story. I found their price for the Canon 30D to be the lowest on the net. I placed an order a couple of days ago and got the email that I needed to call their 1-800 number to confirm. (sounds familiar?) So I call and speak with "Mark". He confirms that they have the camera in stock. He tries to sell me a bunch of stuff including a 1GIG compact flash card. I tell him his web page says I get a 1Gig Flash drive free with the purchase of 2 accessories. Which I had also ordered. He tells me that is not a Flash card that comes free. Notice how the wording is similar. He then asks me if I want batteries as the one that comes with the camera lasts 20 mins. OK, I know something is up as I own a Canon 10D and the batteries last for days. Same batteries mind you. I tell him no. He then tries to sell me a warantee for a year at $200.

Now I'm getting a little upset. I ask him about the factory warantee that already comes with the camera. He tells me it does not come with the camera and that's why it's so cheap. I tell him to cancel my order which he claims to do and hangs up.

I've checked with my credit card company and they show no activity with that company yet. I'll be watching. If you don't see an update on this post then they did not charge me.

Why they are still in business and not locked up somewhere is beyond me. My only regret is not finding this site before ordering.

Their web site now says Free upgrade to 1GIG USB PEN Drive with purchase of two accessories.

Interesting how they changed the wording so it doesn't look to closely like Flash drive/flash card before.

"Called this company to verify they had a camera in stock I was looking for and was told they had in stock. I then went online to order and gave all the information inclueing my credit card info, I was then contacted by Victor who tried to sell me a lot of other stuff that I did not want, all was fine for about the next 30 minutes, until I received an email telling me the camera was back ordered and would be 6-8 weeks. I sent back to cancel this order. Then on 4-22, 4-24,&4-25-06, my credit card was billed a total of $440.69 to a Google company called Adwords. I had to cancel my credit card and Google made right on there end, but I beleave someone sold my information and that is my opion."

"I PLACE AN ORDER ON THEIR WEB SITE WAS E-MAILED CONFIRMATION AND THEN I DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT IT, I CALLED AND ROBERT TOLD ME I PUT IT ON HOLD, HE TURNED ME OVER TO JOHN WHO THEN GOT ME TO CHANGE MY ORDER, MY BANK DECLINED IT STATING IT WAS OVER MY WITHDRAWL LIMIT, THIS MEANT THEY DID IT AS A DEBIT TRANSACTION AND NOT AS A CREDIT CHARGE SINCE I HAVE DONE LARGER AMOUNTS AS CREDIT.I TOLD THEM NOT TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE ORDER UNTIL I CALLED THEM BACK, THEY SPLIT THE CHARGES UP AND DID NOT NOTIFY ME AND JOHN ADMITTED I HAD TOLD HIM TO WAIT FOR MY CALL BACK. AFTER READING INFO ON THE INTERNET I DECIDED TO CANCEL THE ORDER AFTER ARGUING WITH JOHN AND GORGE ANDERSON AND THEY KEPT CALLING BACK I DID GET A FAX SHOWING THEY WERE GOING TO CREDIT EXCEPT FOR A 15 PERCENT RESTOCKING CHARGE FOR AN ORDER THAT THEY HAD NOT SHIPPED. JOHN SAID IT SHIPPED BUT COULD NOT SUPPLY TRACKING NUMBER BUT THEN GEORGE OR GORGE STATED IT WAS IN THE WAREHOUSE TO SHIP BUT I COULD NOT CANCEL."

"We're talking major fraud here. This place is yet another Brooklyn, N.Y. based scam artist bait and switch trap. I fell into the trap, like so many others because of their low priced camera bodies. After calling the lies started with Steve Carter, my salesman. I was told this camera does not come with a battery or charge and for another $200 I could have one. When I said I didn't need one, I was told that the camera was out of stock and on back order ( we've heard this so many times huh?) He then tried to pad the bill with all kinds of package deals. I was informed that they do not charge your card until they ship. They charged my card that day!! When I discovered reselleratings.com and read the hundreds of complaints about them I tried to cancel my order. After almost 30 minutes on hold (they answer the phone fast if you're buying something) they told me I could not cancel because the item had been shipped. They could not of course provide any UPS tracking number. The item had not been shipped but they lied and charged my card anyway ($200 over the amount they quoted !!!) I called Visa and disputed the charges. of course the package they said was in transit never arrived. I called them back and told Steve I wanted a refund now. He promised he would credit the account and admitted that the tale about shipping was a lie. They do this so they can charge your card a restocking fee. After two weeks of battle Visa took my side and credited my card after much hassle. STAY FAR AWAY from these guys. Everything about them is nothing but fraud. I reported them to the NY Dept of Consumer Affairs, NY Attorney Genral and the Better Business Bureau. Is there a NY based attorney out there will ing represent all of us in a lawsuit to shut these thieves down?? "

"I ordered a canon elura 85 and deluxe pk # 1 from Best Price Cameras -with a listed price on their websight of $469 with $28 shipping. I received a phone call from them on the same day asking if I wanted to upgrade to deluxe package # 3 which included better battery and other items for a cost of $639 plus $28 shipping. I agreed. I received a package from Best Price on April 14th that contained the Elura 85 camcorder and the contents of Deluxe package # 1. I also received an invoice # B108411 stating $741 had been charged to my credit card. When I called the company on the 17th of April and explained there had been a mixup in shipping or billing and I needed to have a package mailed to me with the difference between Pk # 1 and Pg # 3 or have the $263.50 overcharge refunded to my account, the pereson on the line became very beligerant. I stated I was terminating the call and all further contact should be by Email or Fax so there was a record. I immediately got a call back say NOBODY hangs up on him (who wouldn't give his name). I stated the 2 solutions to this problem and he said there was nothing I COULD do and nothing he WOULD do. I told him not to call back and I would contact him by Email and Fax. I Emailed Best Price Camera with my complaint and Faxed them copies of my Pk # 1 order confirmation and a copy of the invoice #B108411 for $741 which clearly lists the items in Pk # 1. I have received no contact from this outfit at all sense I sent the information to them. Sheila Crosman"

"BEWARE: Bait-and-Switch story follows.

After ordering online, they called and asked for my Visa security code saying that they couldn't process the order without it--a fat lie. I should have cancelled because the rest of the conversation was a bait-and-switch routine. These guys are crooks.

The camera kit I had ordered did not include the battery or charger. Then, he said that the uv filter I had ordered wouldn't fit both lenses, which turned out to be another lie. Several things were first offered for one price and then there was a better price.

Finally, we were so close to another kit, why not just change to that?

The next morning, I called to cancel the order. Well, the service department doesn't open until 11:00 am, and, of course, the order people can't cancel an order. So, I called the service department. I had to say cancel at least four times. He then gave me a number for Adam, the person who can cancel an order. But, Adam doesn't answer and he doesn't responde to voice mail. (I suppose he's busy with Eve. Next time, I just ask for Moses.)

End result: I've paid $1500 for something I could have gotten for $1300 and I have about $250 of things I really didn't want and didn't realize I was getting.

Be careful around these guys.

"I sure wish I had done my homework and practiced what I preach before I even considered ordering anything from this "company." Reading your comments made me realise how easy it would have been for me to make the smart decision and stay as far away from these guys as I could! But no, I must have been cought with my guard down, and now I have to deal with this nightmare.

I ordered a camera from their website for the advertised amount of $469.00, plus a flat rate of $20.00 shipping. I used my checking account debit card for the purchase. Later that evening, I recieved a phone call from Best Price Cameras informing me that the advertised price was the price AFTER manufacturers rebate, (it doesn't say that on the webpage,) it would actually be $569.00 on my debit card. To this I agreed since it would still get me back to the advertised price. Then they sold me a battery and a charger and a five year warranty, and all the sudden my total was $899.99! After a story about how much the batteries and charger cost, I reluctantly agreed to the price. They sent me an order confirmation, (but not an itemised receipt) via e-mail.
The very next morning, I decided I made a bad decision and attempted to cancel my order with the company. ( This was less than 15 hrs after placing the order, and immediately after their phone lines opened.) After numerous phone calls, transfers, holds, diconnects, and one intentional hang-up, I got the company to agree to cancel the order, but it would take 7-21 days to refund my money. ( Even though they advertise that they do not charge your card until the item is shipped!)
When I requested a confirmation of the cancellation via e-mail or fax, they replied that they were unable to do such a thing, and as of today, 4/07/06, they actually charged my checking account for the full amount of $899.99.
They were deceptive from start to finish, and I still don't know if, or when, they will cancel my order.

"I ordered a film scanner earlier today for $919 delivered, which is only about $20 less than is available elsewhere. Three hours later, an SOB calls me to inquire whether I would like to purchase the power cord for the unit as well! Supposedly a 'proprietary' design, this cord normally runs $149, but they were 'willing to let me have it for the wholesale price' of $79. Needless to say, I cancelled the order as well as the card number they had. Nikon & every other reseller I've talked to since immediately balk at the very concept. This reseller is a fraud - 100%"

"Very bad experience. After I placed My order on-line I received their e-mail stating that in order to expedite processing I needed to call them. When I did, the upselling began. I discovered that several items that should have been included were not. The lenses were not what I thought. When i tried to cancel the order, I got the runaround and was on hold for over 45 minutes. Then they tried to tell me that there would be a cancellation fee."

"I purchased a camera from these people because f price. even with the battery scam they were cheaper than the other companies that i had researched. I feel that i was lucky to get the equipment i orderd. I did not like the pressure for the purchases of warranties and filters at a very inflated price. I orderd a black body and after multiple call and assurances that they had shiped a black camera i received a silver one. I delt with three diffrent liars at this company."

"After more than 3 months they still have not delivered my JVC GR-HD1 camcorder I ordered before Christmas last year. They called the next day to see if I also wanted a battery and charger for $449 more. I said no and have received nothing but excuses and lies ever since. False advertising at its worse. I've contacted the BBB of NY and plan to follow this up with the NY Attorney General. Experiences like the many reported here with this company should not be allowed to continue."
