"Horrible customer service and decpetive practices: I purchased a SONY still camera. Boradway Photo's base price was very attractive but they're shipping prices are higher, and you end up priced pretty much the smae as everyone else. After taking that into account, I paid extra for expedited shipping, needing the product for a pending trip. But they would't process my order until I called them for 'order verification.' They had my phone numbers from the on-line order but made no attempt to call me at first. When I called in as requested, four times over a several day period, I only got voice mail or terminal hold. I finally got them and it turns out the purpose of holding the order and requireing the phone call was to try to upsell me accessories I didn't want in the first place. The sales rep then promised to overnight the order, so I would get it in time for my trip. But it actually went out two days later and then by two day delivery, so I didn't get it in time. I tried to return the order but they refuse to respond in any way.

Update:

Broadway Photo's web site promises a response within 24 hours to emails sent to Customer Service. They never responded to at least 5 attempts. After numerous phone calls and endless holds, I finally got through to a live rep. He was rude, accused me of lying, sidestepped the whole issue of delaying the order to try to upsell it, and refused any sort of refund. Eventually he offered to send me a spare battery at no charge, which did arrive promptly. I do not recommend these guys.

"misrepresent price and way overcharged shipping.
Will never do business with again, they do not clearly state whats included, and shipping was about 400 percent higher then quoted. Would have been cheaper to buy in store. Watch out for this place

"I wish I had read the reviews on this website before dealing with this company. But I was in a hurry to get the "low" price and beat the Christmas rush. Yes, haste makes waste and I wasted a lot of time dealing with this pitiful business. This company lives on lies and deception----DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. It was a horrible experience. Rather than go into a long dissertation about my experience, you can just ditto what everyone else is saying. Thank goodness THEY cancelled my order before the final transaction took place. Besides e-mailing the BBB I think I am going to write the publishers of the photo magazines and try to convince them not to accept ads from this deceitful company."

"Wow... I wish I had read the reviews on this site prior to purchasing... Same story as everyone else. Got an "order confirmation" call where a salesperson tried to get me to buy a bunch of add on's. Eventually, I told him that I wasn't interested in the add-on's and he got rude and hung up on me.

I went to the site later that evening and it showed that my order wasn't even available. I called customer service and was treated horribly. I cancelled the order and now I just hope that I don't get charged with some crazy restocking fee (even though he admitted that they don't even stock the merchandise).

UGHHH... Don't purchase anything from broadway photo (bwayphoto.com). They are rude, horrible business people.

"This was an extremely unpleasant experience and I WOULD NOT RECOMEND this store to anyone. I Ordered name brand digital camera at decent price, received very pushy sales call to add high priced and poor quality accessories to purchase. Attempt to return accessories was met with pushy agent. I returned everything and was met with overpriced restocking fees and shipping fees."

"I ordered a digital camera online, and received an e-mail telling me to call to verify my order. When I called their toll-free number, I was connected to an EXTREMELY pushy sales rep. After a few minutes of answering his sales pitches, I told him that I just wanted the camera and that was it. Upon hearing this, the sales rep became rude thereby forcing me to cancel my purchase. "

"I placed an order and paid for it on 12/10/04 it is now 12/14/04. I placed the order on 12/10/04 then received a call a day later 12/11/04 to verify my order, The person on the phone ext. 766 told me I had to call my bank to give a temporary second shipping address he said it would only take 30 sec to complete, So I said ok I will do that no problem I do not want any problems or delays with my order wanting it for a gift. So I called my bank 12/12/04 they told me I had to go in and sign a piece of paper and then they would send it to corporate which would take 2 days to process.
So I called ext. 766 back 12/12/04 I told him what my bank had told me, He said "that’s what they said" I said "yes" He then told me ok no problem we will take care of it!!!!!! I said are you sure I do not want any delay in this order he said no problems we will take care of it, I then repeated myself are you sure I do not want any delay with this order, He told me NO we will take care of it!!! I said ok thank you very much I appreciate it very much.
Now on 12/14/04 I get another call stating we cant process your order because the address is not at your bank. I told the girl what I was told and she put me on hold came back and told me there is nothing she could do I had to put that address as a second billing address with my bank. By now it is to late for me to do that by the time my bank got it processed and then you got the order in the mail I would not have received it in time for the holidays. So now a $200.00 camera is going to be shipped to my house 4 days after purchase and going to be sitting in the cold waiting for me to arrive after work. Now to me if I would have been told I have to get the second address on my bank account I would have, I still had time. Yet again I was told no we will take care of it!!!!
I am very unsatisfied with this transaction!!!!!!!

This is the e-mail I sent to customer service, which I believe will be trashed and forgotten,
I talked to a supervisor and he told me oh sorry for that he is new and doesn’t know so I will tell him. That is all I got from the supervisor.
I am still waiting for my product to arrive I will update when it arrives.
All the reviews on this store I can believe 100% and will never do business with these jokers again.
Hopefully it makes it for Christmas :( I wish I would have come here first I would have never purchased from them.

"I called and placed the order to ask a few questions. I first asked if it was a USA warranty. I was told yes. He went on to say that the battery/charger was NOT included. I told him if it's a USA warranty camera it IS included. He agreed with me that they were included. I then went ahead with the order. I requested and paid $40 more for 3 day shipping. The next day I called to order a few more. I was told the batteries were NOT included and he would NOT budge. I didn't order. I was thinking great.. the first one lied.. Then to top it off when I got the tracking number and checked it. It was UPS ground and I paid $40 extra for 3 day!! Soo I'll soon find out if I get charger/batteries.... With what I've read... I doubt it. I will reverse the charges and contact the better business bureau."

"I ordered a camera from this store based on the low price posted on their internet site. I was advised to call an 800 number to expedite the order. The camera that was $219.99 became $279.00 when the fast talking operator told me that the $219.00 cameras shipped from overseas and would take 4-6 weeks to deliver (obviously not in time for the holidays) Of course I could get the "Holiday package" from a local store and the camera would ship in 3 days. The holiday package I was told included a case, "enhanced" battery and lens cleaning kit. I wasn't thinking too clearly and went ahead with the purchase. When the camera arrived it was identical to the camera I had purchased from a retailer for myself a year ago. The battery was the same and I got a 10.00 case and a squeeze bottle with some Q-tips for cleaning lenses. Needless to say I will not purchase anything else from this store. I will tell everyone I know about the scam and I plan to contact the appropriate states attorney general."

"I need to wash my phone after dealing with these scammers. Here's the game. You cannot buy the low price camera unless you have enough extras ordered. Their extras are outragiously priced. they will lie andI originally ordered a camera, an extra battery, and a SD memory card. They will try to sell you a $29 memory card for $299. They lie to get you to buy.

Dig Liquid'rs has no customer service. They always forward you back to your original salesman and you can't talk to someone else about their lies. They will never send you an email saying what you ordered and how much.

The whole experience was like playing 3 card monty on a Brooklyn street corner.

"This is the first time I post a negative review for a reseller, but these people deserve it. I was in the market for a PAL (European TV standard) camcorder and the Broadway Photo website had both good selection and excellent prices. So I ordered via their website and got an email to call them to verify my order.

Talked to Gene at ext 267, he said they needed to verify my credit card billing address. When that was done he started pushing accessories. He tried to sell me a battery for $169 and a quick charger for $129. I said I'm quite sure there's a battery and charger included. He said that it was a useless 15 minute battery and no charger. I checked afterwards and found that on the Broadway website, listed as standard accessories, there's a charger and there's a battery that according to the manufacturer is a 90 minute battery so these statements were complete lies.

I thought $169 was pretty steep so I declined the battery and then he said "we also have a $199 kit that includes a four hour battery, a charger and one-year warranty, didn't you see that on our website?" I still thought it was expensive but felt that I did need an extra battery with quick charger and that it would be OK to pay a little more and not have to go somewhere else to get them. So I went with this kit. Warranty is by the way listed as included on their website and I never found the kit he sold me, so two more lies.

Shipping was overpriced, and the Broadway shipping people left out the last two numbers in my address so I had to track the package and go to FedEx myself to get it. I opened the box and there were only the standard accessories included, no extra battery, no extra charger and no sign of warranty. The invoice in the box had just one line item, the camera I'd ordered at a price $200 above what is advertised on their website. This is when I went on line and found this site. Read most reviews, recognized the scam, and was furious with myself for not reading reviews before ordering.

The following morning, after cooling down somewhat, I decided to try to solve the problem in a civilized manner. Called customer service, got through in less than a minute to a guy called Tony. He was very courteous, apologized for the inconvenience, and said he would send me the battery and charger plus "a little gift for the holidays" free of charge. When asked about the warranty he said it's showing in his system and that I absolutely do not need to worry about it.

The missing battery and charger arrived together with two free DV tapes, so I actually had a positive experience with their customer service! The only thing that has not been settled is the fact that I was sold a warranty but I have no proof of it. I bought a PAL camera, so it's obviously an import, and warranty is always fuzzy when you don't buy through the official channels. The price I paid is about half of what the camera costs in Europe so this is a risk I can take.

To conclude my experience: I got a camcorder with one extra battery, extra charger, shipping and two DV tapes at a price lower than I've been able to find the camcorder alone for at any other store. Will I buy from them again? Absolutely not, I don't appreciate being lied to.

A question to the owners of Broadway Photo: I'm happy with the price I ended up paying! Why don't you just advertise prices you can accept on your website and fire your idiot sales people? Without the "order confirmation / accessories pushing" phone conversation you could actually get some returning customers and make more money in the long run.

"They lie. They flat out lie. I feel like such an jerk for ordering from them. They don't ship your order, they make you call to confirm and when you do LOOK OUT. I was ordering a sony DSC-p150 for a competitive but not unrealistic price. But when I called to confirm the order they claimed that the battery charger that came with the camera took 6-8 hours to charge and that the battery would only last 18-30 minutes. They claimed I could upgrade it to a better one that would hold the charge, and I could do all this through this upgrade package. When it was all said and done they charged $775 for a camera that was supposed to be $379 (both numbers including shipping which they doubled incidentally). I received my order and realized that it is the standard sony packaged camera, there was no difference. No special battery charger or battery. I have not had the displeasure of talking to them yet, when I e-mailed them regarding this they told me I had to call. I plan on returning the whole thing and calling the better business burearu. I am going to have to eat the freight and I am just sure they will charge a restocking fee. I am wondering if I have any recourse through my credit card company.

I feel so dumb and this was an expensive lesson. I wish I saw this web site before I ordered. But I can tell you this, next time I will check this website FIRST!

"I had heard that there were some probs with this company, but against my better judgement, I placed an order-it was not long before i realized i had made a big mistake. The complaints noted by others on this webb site were the same i have had-abusive, contemptouus, mis-leading salesmanship;I started wanting to be an advertized digital camera for $ 365, and ended with an order of over
$ 700; i later learned from a local camera store that most of the items i needed to start are included in accessories that come with camer-and the one thing I knew I would need, a memory stick, could be purchased locally at half the bway price.When I asked for an accounting of how the bill got so high, i was told by the salesman that he was too busy, i should call back after 8 PM; after the 3rd try,that was when i found out what i had purchased was a "package"; i later learned that there is no such package in any bwayphoto catalog; the explanation of just what the warranty included was so fuzzy, that until i actually get the camera in my hands, i'm not going to be sure what the warranty means. When I asked about returning the order for a refund, i was told first i would have to pay $ 44.for shipping and handling, plus a 10% restocking fee-the bottom line here is:DON'T TRY TO RETURN ANYTHING,ITS JUST TOO EXPENSIVE.According to a
report from the NYC Better Business Bureau, out of 100 random complaints, 25% deal with sales procedures. I intend to explore how to register a complaint with the State of New York Consumer Affairs Dept.(or similar agency), and bring to their attention not only my experience with Bwayphoto but suggest that they review some of the letters in this webb,as most of the complaints seem to be similar.

"Sony DCR-DVD201E (PAL) Camcorder is priced at their web site at 649 $ and this price was confirmed by the sales representative; he mentioned also that “it comes as a complete package with everything included, battery, cables, CD etc. “ . In case you need a long life battery, it needs to be purchased separately”. Very clear.
We were shocked to see our invoice showing 939.98$!!!
So far our attempts (including two telephone conversations with your customer service department) to learn what is involved into these extra 290$ were not successful. They promised to send us by email the detailed statement how these 939.98$ are produced from 649$. So there are no explanations at moment. One of the customer service officers assumed that this price increase is due to international warranty and long lasting battery pack added – we would like to assure that we DID NOT ORDERED and DID NOT RECEIVED these items!!!

Another customer service officer proposed to send us “a package of DVD’s, tripod, bag etc.” - this supposed to compensate for inconvenience. At the same time he mentioned that “there is no way that such Camcorder can be offered for 649 $! “ He added “who advertise such a low price is just liar!” – well I suggested him to check your own website at http://www.digitalliquidators.com and search for Sony DCR DVD 201E PAL Camcorder.

I would like to mention that we are not interested to purchase any new items from this company.
