"Sales person tried to sell a package that cost more money and talk about warrenty different from the what is being post in their website so that it make you think that you should get the warrenty. In fact the digital camera that they sell sound like a gray market type of camera. After I ordered it, I realized it was a gray market type of camera but I cannot cancel the order. So though their price are very good but you might be getting a gray market type of camera and the sell person might be lie to you on warrenty and other items that they want you to get. I was very unhappy and will not buy from them anymore."
"I got the same bait and switch routine as others. They tried to sell me over prices accessories and when I refused they placed me on backorder after I was told the item would be shipped. The representative even got testy with me when I refused."
"After website ordering..... lies, product switch, cons, sleasball operation. Overcharged... claimed I autherised upgrade on phone to US model with cords and better batery. Model at site was US, They sent non-US Ect."
"Ordered a lens for my camera. Had to call a number to confirm the order. I asked about the lens hood and case, and was told they weren't included. I was told that this was an international version, which conveniently didn't come with anything that was supposed to be in the box. They were happy to sell it to me though, for $39.99 more. I questioned it, and asked for a moment to check something. I was put on hold for 20 minutes. I called back and cancelled the order.
Do not deal with them, they are bait and switch artists."
"I was overcharged, I payed $5,799 instead 0f $5,064.49.they sent grey market Canon camera lenses instead of usa waranted, for which I payed for.I am now trying to get some of my money back but that is not that easy with credit card company's.DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED."
"DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. I ordered an Olympus C-770, received an e-mail stating I had to call them to verify order. I called and the salesman told me I had to pay $50 to receive a second battery and a warranty. The salesman stated that the battery that comes with the camera only lasts 1/2 hour. I told him no and he treated me like an idiot. I stupidly called him back 5 minutes later and agreed to pay the extra charge (guess I love the abuse). He didn't even remember the call and mumbled ok into the phone. I hung up, felt like something was really wrong, called customer service and canceled the order. I did receive a confirmation e-mail for the cancellation.
Anyway, the service is terrible. It is the old 'hard-sell,' rip-off approach. The salesman stated I would receive the camera tomorrow via overnight. When I checked the web site, I noticed that the item was out of stock!!! The salesmen are clueless and rude. Stay away from this company!!!!"
"I bought a Nikon Coolpix 4500 camera from the store, after asking them 2 main questions:
1) Is this a new, unused camera, and 2) Is this a Nikon USA camera covered by the Nikon USA warranty. The answer to both questions by the salesman was an emphatic "YES"!
When the camera arrived, I opened the box to find an instruction manual that was PHOTOCOPIED! That, of course, begs the question of whether it is new. And when the camera bag was opened, inside was a GRAY MARKET camera (it has a red band on the camera grip) despite all the emphatic assurances that it would be a Nikon USA model (which has a teal band on the camera grip.
I phoned to complain and they said they would take back the camera under their 30 day warranty plan, while making no apologies at all about the fact that I was lied to. Of course, I would have to pay the $40 shipping fee myself, but hey, "it's not our fault that you are not happy with the camera."
In summary, these people are a bunch of shysters. I bought with the company because of its good reviews on another reseller rating site. At the same time, this site is featured on Broadway Photo's main web page, so maybe that should have told me something about the site's reviews already. Too bad I did not come across resellerratings.com first!

"Same as the previous complaints. I called to verify that a video camera was in stock. I was assured that it was. A guy who said his name was 'Dan Fischer' ext 232 then proceeded to try to sell me a battery with a much longer life then the :25 min battery the camera comes with. He was very insistent - and when I declined with finality he was rude and then hung up on me. At that point however he had taken all of my information so - I naively assumed the order was filled.
After failing to recieve and type of email verification - I called there customer care line the next day. I eventually was transfered to "Dan" because the employee who answered said my order had been canceled and I needed to talk directly to Dan... (great) I ask Dan if he remembered me - hanging up on me - he denied hanging up on me. I asked to talk to his supervisor. I was eventually transfered to "Ken," who upon hearing my tale, refused to believe that his employee could have hung up on me. We agreed that it was an truley incredible coincidence that right after his employee insulted me the phone magically went dead. He said that if his employee had accidentally hung-up on me he could have called me back instantly - thanks to their super-duper phone system. I recieved no such call.
As I was further recalling "Dan's" words before he hung up on me to "Ken" the phone went magically dead!! But here's the best part - Ken called me right back. And he said something to the effect "my what a strange coincidence! - the phone went dead! - see that's what it sounds like when the phone goes dead - this is what a hang-up sounds like! (PHONE SLAM!!)"
Wow.
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE JERKS.
I will be doing my part with the Better Business Bureau."
"Purchased a canon eos-1d mark ll for a package price of $9800.00, I went with salesman recomendations, after receiving items I priced all items elsewhere and found that I had only $8179.00 worth of products. I wanted to return all for a refund. They put a bogus "S.H.I.P" charge of $690.00 and wanted a 5% restock fee. They would only give me a return authorization if i signed a statement agreeing to these charges. They would only credit my account $8,620.00, costing me $1,180 for holding merchandise 1 day."
"Like everyone else on this site, I was called for "order verification" and was pushed to purchase a $70 battery because the Canon Optura 400 I purchased didn't come with any batteries. Finally, I was told by a "Gene" that it does come with a battery but it only lasts for twenty minutes. Their order confirmations very cleverly don't list the price you will actually pay, and though I agreed to pay $1835 plus shipping, the phone call ended with Gene saying, "Okay, I'll go ahead and ship this out for $1999 plus shipping." I was kind of groggy at the time, as good old Gene woke me up. I called back to find out how they arrived at that number. Gene said it was because I asked for the US warranty and that costs more. He agreed to remove the higher priced add-ons but was less than pleased about it. I just cancelled my order and hope they don't actually try to charge my card. According to their website, there is still no information about my order. Just a note to call Gene. I have a business partner that purchased a Canon XL1 from BWay a couple years ago, and though he said he got the same high pressure routine, he did get a Canon XL1s with a full US warranty and it has worked great from day one. So, long story short, I paid an extra $100 to get my order from B&H and feel it is money well spent for the piece of mind."
"This company scams you. Tole me I needed a charger & extra batt. Not so, the charger is included. Tried to sell me a $200 1G CF card for $500+. Very high shipping charges they do not disclose. $90 for a D70 kit.
Deliberate deception. I called and got a partial refund after a long discussion."
"Wish I had checked here first. Appears to be a valid business, but after dealing with these people, I found out a lot of unpleasant things. First, the gear I was looking at ended up being a grey-market model (Nikon Coolscan LS-50, which should be a Coolscan V-ED in the US model). Then came the usual "confirmation" call, the push for overpriced warranties, the surly representative, the lack of final pricing on the order confirmation, getting hung up on after refusing a $50/year service plan, etc.
I ended up contacting my credit card issuer's security department to have the account closed and re-issued. Fortunately, no pre-auth or charge had been made to the account yet.
Avoid at all costs.

"Dont ever buy from bwayphoto. They are a bunch of chearters"
"Very dissatisfied. Buy elsewhere. Placed order for a Minolta Dimage A2 on their Web site, which showed it as the full USA version w/ warranty and accessories, for about $720.
Received e-mail next day saying to call them to verify order. Salesperson confirmed my order, told me the camera was in stock and ready to ship. Immediately tried to sell me a long-life battery. I refused. Then he tried to sale me memory. I refused again. He seemed irritated that he could not up-sell me. I then asked for a shipping number. He told me it would take 48 hours to process the order. I said that was fine and he wished me "good luck."
I checked my order status via their Web site 2 days later, which showed it was "backordered" and that I would be notified via e-mail when the item came in.
Just for fun, I called their 800 number the next day, acting like a new customer, inquiring about the Dimage A2. I was told it was in stock, came with all the accessories, and had the full 1-year warranty. Plus, the price had dropped another $20, to $699.09. I told him I would call back if I decided to order it. I asked for the salesman's name. He said he was "Todd."
I then called the customer service number to check on the status of my order. I was told (by probably the same person I had just spoken with) that they sent me an e-mail 1 day earlier saying that the item was "unavailable." I never received such an e-mail. He told me he had no idea when the camera would be available. I then spilled the beans about my earlier phone call and asked why the camera is now available but my order was placed on backorder. He became angry and asked me why I did that and asked who I spoke with. I explained that I did not understand why I was originally told the camera was available and now it wasn't, yet it was if I called in as a new customer. He asked who I spoke with. I told him "Todd." He asked me what Todd's extension was. Of course I was never given an extension number. He said he couldn't do anything about it.
I cancelled my order.
In summary, this is a bait-and-switch site that would not sell me this camera at their advertised price unless I bought accessories. Don't waste your time and don't support their crooked selling tactics."
"I ordered a Sony DCR-HC40 camcorder from bwayphoto.com for $519. I received an email asking me to call them to confirm the order. I did, and the person I talked to tried talking me into buying all sorts of useless accessories which I did not need. He even lied to me, saying that the default battery lasts only 20 mins, while in fact it lasts at least 45 mins, hoping to sell me another battery. I refused. TWO days later, I received an email saying that the camcorder is backordered, and has not shipped yet. I called the guy again, and he talked to me WHILE EATING. It was the most annoying conversation! I asked about the delay, and he said 3-4 weeks. Then he told me "why don't you go with the USA model?" which costs $599. I asked about the difference, and he said that the USA model is covered in the US, but the other is not. So, if it breaks, you have to ship it OVERSEAS to get it fixed!! Of course, he wouldn't tell me all of this straight up. I had to pry out the information from him. AND, there is no mention of this on their website, where I bought the camera from. So, I asked him to cancel my order. His reply was "Ok" and he hung up.
That is the worst place I ever bought anything from. I'm never buying anything from there again."
