"I hope you are reading this before you have a nightmare encounter with Broadway Photo. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BROADWAY PHOTO. This is the first time I have ever written a complaint about a company, but they are TERRIBLE. If you are reading this after you have begun to notice a problem with Broadway Photo, I am sorry for you - your suspected nightmare may be just beginning. They fail to deliver what they promise you on the phone, they overcharged my credit card, they are completely terrrible to try to work with on the phone to figure out why you haven't received your order yet (even when it is way overdue), they lied to me and told me it was shipped when it was not yet shipped. I advise everyone to STAY AWAY FROM BROADWAY PHOTO - They should be out of business but people are "lured" by low quotes from their website. The products you may be "lured" to may arrive to you damaged, used, or worse. I am still facing aggravation, frustration, and time and effort to remedy the mistake of ever contacting Broadway Photo. It is such a hassle. It should be clear by now, if you haven't yet made a decision as to where to purchase - DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH BROADWAY PHOTO (unless you enjoy being swindled).

"These guys should be in jail. I'll spare all the gory details, but a few include:
- selling a grey market high-end camcorder with no warranty, without identifying it as such
- charging $197 shipping for an order that cost exactly $34 to ship identically from a reputable New York retailer
- substituting accessories over the phone as "basically the same," then raising the order price by almost $200
- marking up accessories by as much as 400% over their legitimate retail price
- threatening to levy restocking fees if returned
These guys are crooks."
"Why is it you always get the advice after you made the mistake, or find the reviews after the purchase. I just purchased a Nikon D70 w/ Lens from Broadway Photo at an outrageous good price of $1079, however the "high-speed" compact flash card and "entended life" battery cost me additional $388 (only $75 retail from other stores). What makes me the most mad is that I repeatedly asked my salesperson why these items were so over-priced and he eventually convinced (conned) me into believing this was because these were the latest greatest ones on the market. When I received the products today, I did a little more research, found them on the net as nothing special and for the retail amount quoted above. I have an email into customer service and I will phone tomorrow for a refund/credit/RA, but I am not optimistic given the reviews on this site. If not appeased, I will use the link below and file a complaint with the NY Attorney General. There is need for businesses to get away with this, if enough of us complain. "
"A BIG NO is what this company gets from me! I placed an order for a digital camera, got an email saying I should call a number to verify my order, so I did. The salesman kept trying to sell me 'extra' stuff (i.e. warranty, US model vs. Japanese model, extra battery...) Since I had gone through the same procedure with another company, I make the best of my situation and agreed to a few extra things. The order came up in price by, what I thought was $30. A bit later, I get a call from the billing department regarding my credit card. In the process of resolving that I find out the total for the order is $60 more than what I was told originally. I ended up canceling my order.
Also, during all this order checking/verifying I sent the company two emails and never got a response to either one.

"These people are scum!!. The took the order, payment information, then tried to raise the price $129 to give me the battery and charger that Nikon provides with the camera. Do not even give them a chance. They should be shut down. They will not sell at the prices they advertis. "
"After reading such stories... I wanted to alert one of my favorite publications, Outdoor Photography about this trash. Please read my e-mail to them below. Sorry for those who bought from them. :(
Dear Sir or Madame,
Let me first start out saying how much I enjoy your publication and that I look forward to every issue; I suspect my November issue will be arriving within the next week or so. Though I am not a "professional" photographer, I enjoy getting outside and enjoying nature and my wife encourages it as it gets out out of the office and some exercise on the weekends.
The reason I am writing you, I saw an ad for a company, Digital Liquidators, that you have been running in the past few issues. Yes, some of their prices are very competitive, but I have learned, like all things, if its too good to be true, it usually is. I was lucky enough to do some research before upgrading my digital camera recently, I was tempted to buy from them until I did an online search: http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2375.html. My question, are you aware of what a terrible company this is? I understand they pay for advertising, but I would think with your reputable publication, you would not want to be associated with such trash... my .02 worth.
Thank you,
John

"This company uses fraudulent selling tactics. I called and spoke to a sales person to purchase a camera. I first confirmed that for the price advertised on the website I would be receiving the U.S. retail model with all accessories supplied by the manufacturer and covered by the U.S. warantee. I was assured twice that that was indeed what I was getting. I specifically asked twice if the camera was in stock. Twice I was told that it was in stock. In fact, I would be getting "the last one." I was then offered "special deals" that were only available that day. The salesman told me the battery that Canon sells with the camera was no good and I would need to buy a different one. He also told me the camera was sold with no memory. When I said the package he just confirmed was the one I would be getting comes with 64MB of memory he said that would only be enough to take two pictures (untrue) and offered to sell me more memory at three times the price I have seen it offered on legitimate websites. I also decline a protective filter at three time the usual retail price.
Within 30 minutes I received an email that the camera was not in stock, was on backorder, and would I like to cancel my order? I called Broadway Photo sales desk and said I was interested in purchasing the same camera I had been emailed was on backorder. I was assured twice that they had it, that I could get "the last one." At that point I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was directed to "customer service." There I was told that the international model that I had ordered was not in stock. When I tried to tell the rep that I had been assured by the salesman that I would get the U.S. model he yelled at me, would not let me speak, and hung up on me. I called back asking to speak to a supervisor, was given no one else to speak to, was told not to cry (I was not crying) and told that I could by the model was originally told I was getting for $155 more than the price I was quoted and the price advertised on the internet. Needless to say, I cancelled my order. I feel fortunate that I didn't lose any money, but I will be filing a complaint and urge everyone who has had a problem with them to do so also.
Do NOT do business with this company. They employe fraudent business tactics and the employees are unbelievably rude."
"I was overcharged $20 on the order for an "additional insurance cost" that couldn't be refunded because they had already paid it. Without question they offered me a case, then a battery. "
"I thought I would give this company a chance. Boy was that a mistake. I ordered a Canon Power shot s500 from Broadway Photo. I ended up ordering the camera from Dell.
Here is what I received from Broadway Photo.
A Japanese version of the S500 that was only supposed the sold in Japan
A photocopy of the user manual in black and white
Most of the user manuals were missing
Software that was to be only used in Japan
The lanyard was missing
This company is very crooked.
I called Customer Service 5 times and got put on hold every time. On the 6th time I waited approx. 30 min on the phone until someone answered.
I received a Return Authorization number and returned the camera. Under the fine print in there returns section it says that if the camera can not be returned 7 days after the sale. I know UPS takes at least 3-5 days for delivery.
I ended up sending USPS overnight to be able to stay in the 7 day window. Head the words of others and buy from somewhere else. Don't be fooled by the cheap prices and the fancy website. I have learned my leason. You get what you pay for. "
"I ordered SONY VX 2100 camcorder. I had this model before, but it was destroyed in the filming accident. I was in a hurry before my next project overseas, therefore I ordered it as C.O.D. with overnight shipping. As soon as UPS courier departed with my COD I realized that they shipped me CANON GL2, instead of Sony. I called them immediately and explained that it is their salesman who made a mistake, not me. I would never order Canon, since I have all batteries and accesories for SONY VX2100. They refused to exchange without my paying all shipping and handlig fees (for the original shipping, return and shipping of the correct, Sony camcorder) I ended up paying $2,599.00 for the camcorder that EVEN THEY listed on new invoice at $2,150. So I am ripped of for $450. "
"These guys are HORRIBLE! Found what I thought was a great price on a Canon PowerShot A95 - the information on the website lacked any assurance that it wasn't grey-market or had any warranty. I called the sales number and told the guy exactly what I was looking at and the price and specifically asked if it was USA version with mfr. warranty. He said, "ALL of our products are US with Mfr. Warranty." (Lie #1 - see below) I verified that that was true for this camera at that price and he said, "yes!". (Lie #2) Then he asked if I wanted to buy an "additional" 1 year warranty for $20. I specifically asked if that kicked in AFTER the 1 year mfr. warranty was over and he said, "YES!" (Lie #3) Sounded like a good deal, so I purchased. Then I endured a high-pressure sale for extra batteries and accessories which I didn't want and didn't buy.
At the end of the order I verified that my _total_ charges would be $319 for the A95 w/mfr warranty, $20 for an additional 1yr warranty and (although it seemed a little high) $29 for UPS 3-Day delivery (total of $368). Which he confirmed.(Lie #4)
First idea that something was wrong was when I recieved my shipping tracking number -- the shipping method said UPS GROUND. Using UPS' ship calculator I was only able to come up with a max of $7 charge for ground shipping between our two addresses including insurance. So, overcharge of $22 on shipping.
When I got the camera, there was no additional warranty information and to cap it off, my invoice showed an extra $11.98 in charges that were not itemized at all. When I called to complain the "customer service" person was EXTREMELY beligerant and rude, told me I must have completely misunderstood and that what I said couldn't possibly be true. Claims the price I was looking at was for a grey-market camera. The additional $20 was just to get one with the 1yr mfr. warranty. He informed me that there was no such thing as an 1 yr extended warranty. I was told that I was just being "nit picky" about the overage charges, about not getting what I was told I was buying and that the shipping costs were higher due to "insurance and additional fees" they have to pay. (Apparently UPS has special additional costs for this company.) Finally he hung up on me while I was questioning him about the extra charges. Unbelievable! To Sum up I was overcharged by $53.98 ($20 for an extended warranty that didn't exist, $22 over charge for UPS ground shipping, and $11.98 that cannot be explained anywhere!) I will NEVER EVER EVER do business with this company again, nor would I EVER recommend this merchant to anyone due to their unprofessional, unscrupulous and fraudulent business practices!

"I called and asked if the advertised price was for a US product and was told yes. I called back a couple of days later to order and was told no, the US product was $55 more. I went ahead and ordered. The product that arrived was not a US product but was PAL compatable. I called and they said no they didn't sell US on the Fuji camera as it was no longer made and that what they had sold me was a gray market with a 1 year US warranty -- they did say I could get a refund -- but who knows. "
"Want to add some advice about Broadway Photo and Video. And how to do something about it for all those who have been messed over. Broadway is some very very bad business people. Don't ever mess with them unless you like punishment. Note: Their is something that can be done. Go to www.oag.state.ny.us/complaints/html/comp_consumer.html this website will allow you to file a complaint with the New York States Office of the
Attorney General Eliot Spitzer. Its my understanding from other websites this guy does something about it. I just sent my form in so I can't say for sure, but others say it's working.
Just fill out the 3 page form, its very simple and short. It will take longer to write out the complaint if your really ticked off like I am, than it will to fill out the form, and fax it in.
Make copies of the receipts and get all available information off the website as far as the cost of the products and fax them in, and lets see if together we can stop this bad way of doing business."
"I was charged for $399.98 for an order of $328.99
I placed an order to buy a digital camera from Digital Liquidators LL Brooklyn, NY on internet. The order was $309.00 + $19.99 shipping and handling (Total is $328.99).
Then on 9/6 or 9/7, a sales from the company called my cell phone when I was driving on read. He wanted to sale me charger, memory card. I told him that I did not want anything else and I just wanted to buy the camera as I bought it for other.
Today I noticed that my credit card was charged for $399.98. I called the company and talked to a representative. He was very rude and yelled me that the extra $70.99 was for upgrading from an international model to US model (a trick?) with a warranty. From Internet information, some people said the warranty never exists. He said the extra charge was also for cable and battery. As I know the cable and battery (if they did not put extra one in shipping box, I have not received the shipment yet) are from original package along with the digital camera. He told that they can give me $50 refund. Otherwise they will win for sure even I talk to my credit card company.
Then I talked to his manager. The manager said he can send me a battery, a camera bag, and a charger for free for the dispute.
I do not want to do bussiness with the company any more. I called my credit card company and the extra $70.99 will be refuned on my account. Thanks my credit card company.
I will file complain to Federal agencies.
I hope people do not be affrauded by the company any more.

"Same story. "Oh...Sir, for prices this low, the camcorder does not come with a battery, charger, cables, software, or warranty." They just forgot to mention that in the text description of the product!! "
