"Worst customer experience I've ever had. I was mislead/deceived into:

1. Buying an additional battery for the digital camera I ordered. They claimed the battery that comes with the camera 'only lasts 15-20 minutes', thus leading me to believe that I needed to buy an additional battery. I later found out this was untrue--battery really lasts 2 hrs. 39 min. under normal usage. When I called to address this issue, I was never given to a manager, and I was either ignored or passed along until I reached my salesman who proceeded to argue with me about why he had not mislead me by giving me the 15-20 min. figure 'which reflects *continuous shooting*' (a metric no one uses). Broadway employee: "There hasn't been any misunderstanding! You're gonna be happy! You're going to end up paying more to have it returned to us than if you just keep it!" (This even though it hadn't been shipped to me yet).

2. I was mislead regarding the need for an extended warranty purchased through them. I later found out this was unnecessary. They claimed the Sony warranty was insufficient and would cost at least $175 to get anything fixed. This is flat our wrong. The Sony warranty covers parts and labor for 3 mos. and parts for 1 year. Labor is typically $20-40, not $145 as quoted.

3. "Allow 1-2 days for processing" became 6 days, and it still has not shipped. But they did charge my credit card in the meantime. They then proceeded to go on vacation for the next 8 days; my product never shipped beforehand. They might send it when they get back in. No tracking available.

4. Do not give you a receipt at moment of purchase. In the fine print it states that they may contact you soon regarding your purchase. This is to try to sell you extra accessories (batteries, kits, warranties) you don't want or need. Even after your order is completed, you don't get an emailed receipt, just a confirmation email with an order number. If your order hasn't been processed, you won't know how long it will be until it does; until it does, you won't know when it will arrive. If you don't buy lots of stuff, don't expect it to arrive soon.

It's obvious Broadway's business model is to advertise low prices up front, then practice very unethically on the backend, ramping up the cost with unnecessary accessories, warranties, shipping charges (UPS Ground is $19.99!) and handling charges (another $15-20).

Horrendous experience; ordered from elsewhere (for $100 less!) and am attempting to cancel my order with Broadway--will refuse delivery if it arrives and have called my credit card company.

During the sale, as the price swelled astronomically, the salesman told me "I'll take off shipping, but now you've got to put in a good word." I'll put in my word right here and say that they don't practice forthright business, and it's a real shame.

"This company is a crook, everything on your original order could change without your authorization! I purchased 3 camcorders from this company for my friends and the final charge I got increased above $300, the shipping fee doubled, and I did not know this untill reading the packing slip. what's even worse, one of the camcorder does not have the lense cover, the other with the same type does not have the remote. From my view, the whole stuff is open-boxed or restocked, not brandnew. I called their customer service 3 times. each time I got on hold more than 15 minutes, and I got no apology from them and even got yelling from one guy, no answer from the other guy. they refused me to return these junk they are selling. I already filed a BBB complain online and called my credit company.
NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!

"Hi,
Please contact the FTC at 1-877-FTC-HELP(382-4357). The way that Digital Liquidators (which also goes by other names) handles their clients in horrendous, I was lied to, insulted, and hung up on several times. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and the only way that they can get investigators on their tails is if more people call in and file complaints about digital liquidators. I hope that if everyone on this website is as truely dissatified as they claim, then we can make a difference. Digital liquidators has conned too many people and that needs to change .Please post a response and I will be more than happy to give you more information. Please, please call the FTC and put an end to this. The more support and phone calls that the FTC recieves the better our chances are of getting compensated.

"After ordering on line, they wanted me to call. They did not keep the hours that were posted. Hours were greatly reduced just before xmas!
Shipping was VERY HIGH!
The item ordered (over $450) was a xmas gift. It was embarassing to have the giftee inform me that the manufacturer was not honoring its warranty because the item was from the "gray" market. Something Broadway Photo failed to inform me.

"I decided to purchase a digital camera from BroadWay Photo because their prices where a lot lower than other on line retailers. I placed the order, recieved an email confirmation, and then recieved another email asking that I call to verify the order. When I called, and gave them my invoice number, they said that there was nothing showing on the invoice, so I told them waht is was. Then then proceeded to try and sell me an extra battery, camera case, and extended warrenty. The phone rep was friendly, and gave me a total price, which included a shipping insurance charge of $11 which was "mandatory". Shortly after i hung up with the rep, I recieved a cinfirmation email about my order, but it didn;t have any details pertaining to the order except to say that it was processed.
Something didn't sit right with the whole thing, so I started to do some searcing on line and found the site, which confirmed my feelings about this company. I called the rep, and cancelled my order. This time the rep was less than friendly, and said that I would receive an email confirming the cancellation, which I did. My credit card was chrarged the following day, but the charges were reversed the day after that.
Based on the reviews on this site, I cancelled my order. Please read the other reviews for Broadway Photo and decide for yourself.
Thanks to everyone else for their reviews, and I will definitely use this site agin when dealing with companies that I am not familier with.

"Could not get a itemized invoice to show exactly what I was charged for each item.

I was charged $74.98 for UPS ground shipping. According to UPS the shipping cost for 5# from Brooklyn, NY to Fort Worth, Tx is $10. I had expected shipping to cost $20. Over charge for shipping = $$54.98.

I had to return one item (a set of lense filters) because they were misrepresented by the seller. The cost was quoted by the seller as $150. Since they have a restocking fee on returned items of 5%, my credit card should have been credited with $142.50. It was credited with $99.99. A shortage of $42.51.

Broadway Photo owes me $97.49.

I'm still pursueing the matter, But have been unable to get a itemized invoice that will show the cost of the items I purchased. They have ignored all my requests.

"Beware! Blatant "bait-and-switch" tactics practiced here!!

On March 19, 2004 I placed an online order with Broadway Photo (bwayphoto.com) for a Panasonic PV-DV953 camcorder, which was listed as "In Stock" on their website. The following day, I received an email from bwayphoto confirming my order and asking me to call their customer service number in order to 'verify' my order.

Because I had previously read many online reviews of discount electronics resellers and their questionable sales strategies, I knew what to expect. Sure enough, after a cursory Q&A 'verification' charade involving my name, address and phone number, the customer service rep 'casually' asked if it was my first camcorder. I replied that it wasn't, and that I was replacing a stolen unit of the same model. He then explained that he had asked because he noticed that I hadn't ordered any accessories. I replied that I already had a complete setup, minus the missing camcorder, and he said OK, and thanked me for shopping with Broadway Photo.

Two days later, I checked the order tracking page of their website, and was informed that my camcorder had been backordered.

The following day, posing as a new customer, I called the Broadway Photo sales line and expressed interest in puchasing a Panasonic PV-DV953, and asked if they had them in stock. I was assured that it was in stock and ready to ship. I thanked the rep and told him I would call back if I decided to order the camcorder. I checked the tracking page again, and my camcorder was still listed as backordered.

I called their customer service number, and the rep verified that the unit would be backordered for about two weeks. I told him that I wished to cancel the order, and he did so without question or complaint. I didn't bother rubbing his nose in the lie - it's obvious that they know what they are doing, and don't care what anyone thinks.

This type of tactic is widespread among discount electronic resellers, so if you are drawn to the super-low prices offered by certain vendors, be aware of what can happen.

"I ordered a camera from them and only read this website afterwards. Thus, when I got the email saying I needed to call them for "verification purposes" the next day, I knew what to expect. The guy tried to sell me overpriced accessories and then told me that the camera I ordered off the Net was the "import" version and it would take 8-10 weeks to come in. I politely but firmly told him I could wait the few weeks and I did not want the accessories. We finalized the deal only after I made him state the agreed upon price and shipping costs.

Today, I received the camera in the mail in perfect condition and with all the pieces I wanted. It was still factory sealed. However, I protected myself to the utmost and wrote them a confirmation email after my conversation with the (annoyingly pushy) salesman.

If you're going to deal with these characters, just make sure to protect yourself. Get them to repeat the cost to you and send an email to the "orders" address with your confirmation number and price quote. After that, if they try to mess with you, you'll have plenty of evidence to withstand a claim against them (if so needed).

You can get cheap products from this outfit, but be aware that they'll make it an annoying (and potentially frustrating) experience.

"Ordered a Nikor 80-400 vr lens and told Andy who answered the phone that I did not want a "gray market lens". After recieving the lens when told they would send a Nikor lens i could not recieve a rebate because they are not a Nikon dealer and sold gray market Nikon products.
If you wist to purchase Nikon products you will recieve gray market products and cannot use rebates from Nikon if any are offered.

"A friend in US ordered a Minolta Dimage Z1 digital camera for me, to be delivered by UPS to Arizona.
He phoned Digital Liquidators to confirm that the camera was in stock, ordered it on line on a Friday but, because the store insisted on a phone call to give him the 'hard sell' on overpriced accessories, despatch was delayed until the following week. The on-line tracking number was inoperative until just prior to the actual delivery.
Buyers should beware of high shipping costs. Digital Liquidators charged $49.99 for shipping, claiming that they carried a superior insurance to other companies and therefore were giving a better service. The insurance was not an option so appears to be just a means of the company padding the shipping costs to make up for their lower advertised price on the camera.
UPS quote $12.67 plus 70 cents insurance in this case.

"Before preparing a purchase request, my organization always asks about any shipping and/or handling charges so our final transaction charge is within 15%(+ or -) of the amount authorized. Digital Liquidators quoted us an estimated shipping charge of $79. When we got the invoice, the "Shipping Subtotal" on the invoice was $199.99, more than 2-1/2 times the estimate. UPS ground shipping charge would've been no more than $15 for a box of the dimensions and weight that we received. It appears Digital Liquidators charged me $120.99 for "handling," which was how they explained the difference when I called to protest. Their website price is misleading because the final price was much greater than advertised. Other businesses were cheaper in the end, and I'll never buy from them again."

"My order was for a digital camera. After an internet order confirmation, I received a phone call trying to sell more stuff. I purchased an extra battery for $$ and upgraded the memory for $10.

When the order arrived, I found that the total shipping is $20 more than the internet order. The hike in the charge wasn't disclosed to me at the time of the phone solicitaion. I also felt fooled for paying $10 for a memory card the same size as that come with the factory package: 16MB

I called to complain about the undisclosed shipping charge and the memory that was termed ""upgraded" by the sales person; and was totally furious after having to talk to 4 different persons. All 4 except for 1 shipping person in my view, deploys threatening tactic provoking me to return the camera, and warning me about the 30% restocking fees. The 3 are very rude and in my mind "s---backs".

I spent 25 minutes on the phone and settled with them sending me a pouch as a courtesy gift. I considered myself the biggest fool buying $10 of the so-called upgrade-less-prone-to-error 16MB memory card. I haven't received any pouch 3 weeks after calling Broadway but instead received a $9.99 refund, the maximum amount of refund possible according to the 2 persons whom I spoke with.

The camera is good but my advise is never buy anymore than you don't totally understand during a phone solicitation. Don't expect any customer service from Broadway after you spent the money. Calling Broadway will be a blood-boiling experience that you don't deserve.

"These folks are the worst! They forced a extended warranty on me after the purchase, lied about what they were shipping me, gave me false informaion about products I ordered and then refsued to give me my money back. I am currently seeking help through my credit card company. I WOULD NEVER buy from these guys. They are crooks and will find a way to screw you out of your money, no matter how cautious you are. You;ve heard horror stories about buying equipment from online vendors? These guys wrote the book on who not to buy from!"
