"This is an update for the store review in the quotes, which I wrote recently. The good news: butterflyphoto apparently do care about the customers opinion! A month after the purchase I was contacted by a representative of the store: Steven, who explained, that the PassportWarranty I bought from them is not backed by the terrible RepairTech company (which is out of business, btw), but by ButterFlyPhoto itself, since a year ago. So, the investment I've made into the warranty is hopefully not lost. Combined with my previous appreciation of the high quality of ButterFlyPhoto service, it brings my overall attitude to the company back to a high level.
"I was a happy customer with butterfly photo until recently, when I bought nikon 18-200 VR lens from them with 3 Yr Passport warranty. It all would be good and nice, but I couldn't register the warranty during the first 10 days after the purchase, because of going on a trip, and was unable to get to the customer support of the infamous repairtech, who sells the warranty, by phone. I learned, when I came back from the trip, that the repairtech is a terrible company, which lost its BBB license and does not provide good service at all (rating ~1 at here, at this web site). Butterfly photo refused to take the warranty back, referring to their exception rules for the warranty. My problem with them, is that I made the purchase by phone, and their representitive advertised the warranty as being great (as later on, did their 2 other customer support operators), and he failed to inform me, that the warranty cannot be returned (even if I returned the camera). Basically, my believe in their good service was used to sell me something really bad, knowing I cannot send it back. My previous purchases I luckily (unfortunately?) didn't have to deal with the support/returns/etc. But the prices are good, and if you're absolutely sure what you're buying and don't plan returning it, the store is decent.""
"I purchased a Nikon D60 bundle for a pretty decent price on Mon Jan 5th. Since it was my first time purchasing with them I called to follow up to find out how long it should take for everything to ship. The customer service rep transferred me to a SUPER pushy sales guy. I'm in sales so I understand his pain, but honestly once somebody says NO I don't have enough money for all that extra stuff you really need to let it go. Other than that d-bag it was a good experience. I got my camera three days later. My only suggestion would be for them to process order faster, I don't understand why it takes 24hrs to push a credit card order through. I wouldn't mind purchasing from them again if I saw another really great deal."
"Ordered a Sony KDL32M4000 TV on 11-29-08, which was a Saturday evening. I recieved a confirmation later that night, which confirmed a KDL32L4000 TV. I was a lil scared when I saw the "L" on the confirmation. I looked on their website & saw that they had both models for the same price. I was preparing for a fight when I called on Sunday morning, but it wasn't the case. The lady who picked up, verified & updated my order & passed me on to the sales rep for confirmation. The sales rep, talked me into a surge protector, and gave me his extension in case I had any more issues.
I received a new confirmation within minutes, which put my mind at ease. Monday I got shipping confirmation with tracking numbers. Tuesday the merchandise arrived, the box was in perfect condition, and the set works fine.
If I later have any problems with the set, it will be between me and Sony. Overall it was a very good experience, if it wasn't for the "glitch" in model number (which would have been a big problem if the "L" model was shipped) I would say it was an excellent experience."
"I had a good experience with ButterFlyPhoto.com. I placed an order for a Samsung LN40A750 HDTV with free ground shipping. A representitive from ButterFly called me by 5pm that night to confirm my order, to offer me upgraded shipping and to sell me HDMI cables. I turned them all down. An email arrived a little later that night with the tracking number. The television arrived via FedEx ground the next day (New Jersey to Virginia shipment).
The packaging was a roughed up. The styropfoam packaging was split and fell from the TV as I opended the box. So I thourghouly inspected the TV for damage. I hooked it up and looked for damaged pixes. Tested antenna, s-video, and component video inputs (I don't have any HDMI devices yet to test those inputs). The TV worked perfectly. It was by my account, as promised, a brand new HDTV for a super discounted price."

But I felt that I must in this case.
I found quite a few deals on the net selling a camcorder I was about to buy. Some of them were unbelievably low. Thanks to resellerratings.com, I was able to find out that all these "super low price" stores are a fraud. Best thing they do is try to sell you cheap accessories at inflated price, so that you end up paying much more. If you say No, the item you have ordered goes "out of stock". They keep your money for a while and then just cancel the order.
I am glad I found butterflyphoto.com! Bullet style:
- Called at 5PM and ordered the camcorder
- Victor, sales rep offered some accessories but wasn't pushing after I said No
- Camcorder was shipped same evening and I got it two days later

I called the customer service but they were really in bad attitude. However, the TV is good. Except the 10% restocking fee and bad service, it is acceptable. However, I won't buy any thing from this company."

"I had hesitations from ordering here because of the previous reviews I read about. There was the warning of making an order only to have them call you up the next day to try to upsell accessories to you, to which if you failed to do so, your order would mysteriously be cancelled. So I ordered with a credit card that would offer me some protection, just in case. But luckily that wasn't the case and there was no troubles. I ordered, it was shipped quickly in a box within a box, which made me give a sigh of relief that my HDTV probably made the travel safe. I opened it up, and it was exactly what I ordered. Within 24hrs a representative called to verify the order and offer additional promotions, such as 3 day shipping for the same price as 7-10 day shipping because of the price of the item. This information was not available on the webstie. The order arrived in perfect condition and on time. Tracking of the order was also made available so I knew when to be home to receive the item. Overall I was very pleased with the experience and company as a whole."
