"My experience with Buy.com was completely negative. I ordered 2 items that were supposed to come with free shipping but it seems that even though that is offered prominently, it is not set as the default. As a first time customer I was not familiar with the website and I ended up paying for shipping. One item had a $5.00 coupon applied on my order as was shown on the initial invoice. However, a week later I checked the website and the coupon had been deleted after the order was finalized. I sent an email asking why my credit card had been charged more than the original invoice and received the answer that the coupon had been cancelled!! Can you spell fraud?
One of the items shipped first so I called asking if the one that had not yet shipped could be cancelled or at least be changed to the free shipping. Of course I was told it was too late. Trying to communicate with their customer service either by phone or email is as useless as speaking with a child. They are not capable of understanding and correcting a problem. After 45 minutes on hold waiting to speak with a live person, they simply read from a script and repeat it over and over til the customer has to give up in frustration.
All in all I could never recommend buying anything from Buy.com to anyone I liked.

"First let me say that I have ordered from Buy.com since they were a brand new unheard of online store. Now to why I will never order from them again. I made an order which at the time claimed "in stock". This order was then backordered and took over a month to ship. When it arrived I noticed they had sent me the wrong item. No big deal.. mistakes happen. I go through hoops to get an actual number to speak with them about this and end up of course dealing with someone in another country who had a very hard time speaking our language. Again.. No big deal.. Lets just get this resolved. They e-mail me a UPS label and I send it off. 2 weeks later and no update and I call the number again and wait on hold for approx. 45 minutes. Then finally they answer and check on my order. I am informed another 5-7 business days. Ok.. fine.. Im not happy with the service but Im patient again. Now over 2 months since initial order they finally ship it out again. Hmmm... Its the same wrong order again. These people send me the same wrong item twice over a 2+ month period. I try calling again.. on hold for 55 minutes then they disconnect. I try e-mailing.. no good, no response. I call and wait on hold for 45 minutes again to have someone tell me to return it for a refund and they will not ship me my product ordered because they claim it was an error. For the record.. the price I paid was in line with this product and way overpriced for what they kept sending me. What good is a reseller if their customer service department is irresponsive when you need them? I have contacted them for a refund of my pucrhase which had arrived defective on December of 2006. So I asked for a refund, and I returned the item according to their specification. After awhile, I emailed them again because they never informed me whether or not they have recieved my item. And a few days later, 10 Jan 2007, they emailed me back:
"Please note that we have received the merchandise you returned with RMA #XXX, on January 2, 2007. It will take 5 to 7 business days to process your return.
"Since you requested for a refund, it will reflect on your credit card account after our warehouse processes the return."
It has been 2 months since they have received the return, and they still have not refunded it yet.
I emailed them through their website on 2/20/2007 again, and I got this automated email:
"In most cases we will reply to your email within ten hours... Sometimes we will need to do a little research before we can answer
your email... you might not receive a decision for one or two business days. "
Well, guess what? Seven days later, on 27 Feb 2007, I received another automated email telling me that "We will get back to you as quickly as possible." The email included a customer service 1-877 number for me to call.
I called that 1-877 number, and someone finally picks up the phone after 45 mins!!!!!!!!!!!! And that agent's phone's signal was very static, and after 15 minutes of conversation, the agent said that the situation will be "resolved" within 4 days.
We will see about that.
So, 2 weeks later, today, 3/20/2007, I still have not received my refund yet. So, I called, and waited for about 40mins, and then talked to the agent for another 15minutes. The agent said that the refund has been approved, and it will be refunded at the end March. In other words, I will have to wait for two more weeks!
Again, we'll see about that."

I ordered a book for school on January 15th and when I ordered it, I was told by buy.com that I would have it within the week. I received another email informing me that it shipped January 18th. In fact, the post office didn't receive shipping information until the 19th, and according to the post office website, they were only given shipping information, and never received the actual package.
On January 25, 29, February 1, 5, 6, and 9, I tried to contact customer support by phone. They have a customer support number, but nobody answers it. I waited on hold at least ten minutes every time, and twice I waited for more than a half hour without anyone ever picking up. I also emailed customer support, and while they did get back to me in 24 hours, it was to notify me that I could either ask for a refund or ask for a duplicate item. They got back to me by phone and by email, but in the phone message, they asked me to call and then DID NOT GIVE ME A DIRECT PHONE NUMBER TO CALL. I tried the customer service number you can find on the internet (it is not available on the buy.com site), but that is the one nobody answers. The refund would require a claim and investigation that would take "up to six weeks", but after my claim was approved, my refund would be issued within 24 hours. The replacement would take "up to six weeks to process", but it would ship as soon as the paperwork was complete. I chose the refund, because even if the book was sent, it might be 6 weeks before I got it and I needed it for class (I ordered the book on the 12th from amazon, received in three days later). My claim was actually approved at some point between this email and the 26th of February, although buy.com never notified me of this by email. It just changed on the order history on the website. I tried calling again on Feb 23, 25, 26, and today (Feb 27th). I waited 16 minutes, 11 minutes, 24 minutes, and am still on hold (56 minutes and counting; I want to see how long this goes before I write a complaint letter to the company), respectivley. I emailed on the 26th and was told my refund had been issued Feb 12th, but that it takes "3 to 5 business days for my bank to accept the charges". As of today, it has been TEN business days, and no refund.
The most interesting thing is that, if I ever receive it, THE REFUND WILL BE LESS THAN THE AMOUNT I ORIGINALLY PAID. Yes, that's right, they are not refunding my tax or shipping charges! I have emailed about that, too, but no response as of yet.
I hope that they get this sorted out, but I have really been turned off by this. I have had better experiences in the past, but this whole debacle has convinced me not to shop there anymore. What kills me is the callous attitude that customers don't matter, because they do enough in volume not to have to care about individual customers.
UPDATE: After waiting on the phone for one hour and ten minutes last week, I spoke with "Derick", who told me that there was an error and that although my claim had been approved for a refund on Feb 12, it had not been sent to the department that disburses refunds. He assured me the money would be in my account within four business days. One week later, the money is not there. I'm about to embark on another epic phone call, but who knows if it will help."

"I knew I should have went with a retailer I have used in the past--went with Buy.com for the better price and I regret it.
Item stated "low quantity" when I ordered, and it went on backorder. It also showed "low quantity" for days after I ordered. It's now been 8 days, item hasn't shipped yet, and site has said "In Stock" for a few days.
I've emailed customer service twice and they're no help saying I'll get an email when it is shipped. I'm canceling and going with another retailer. Let's hope it cancels before it ships. Buy.com is a joke."
"I ordered three items. After no change in the order status or any info, a week later I receive an email from buy.com stating they need me to fax in my credit card and driver's license to continue processing the order. That day one of the items is canceled from my order, so only two remain. I don't own a fax machine and can't easily get them the info they "need", which I tell them. Days later the order is pushed through - one of the remaining two items moves to shipping and the other is backordered and out of stock. The shipped item stays at "shipping" status for 5 days, then I get a UPS tracking number which states it will arrive to me in a week. The other item is backordered still... Two of these items were for a birthday gift a week after I ordered them, fyi. This type of service is HORRIBLE and shouldn't be put up with. I recently canceled the last item (which is still backordered --- even though they've already charged my credit card for it!!) and still have not received the only one item that looks like it did ship (it is over THREE WEEKS FROM WHEN I INITIALLY PLACED THIS ORDER). I'm never purchasing anything from these guys again. They've got pretty bad ratings, and people don't speak highly of them anywhere - there's a reason for all of that I've learned."

It is now the 23, 3 days after initial order and receive another email stating item still back ordered. Additionally their website still reads IN STOCK!!
Tired of crap retailers like this I canceled the order. Now I see on their website..

What you got to be kidding me! Your gonna tell me if you can do this or not, what a load of crap!
All this just because I didn't want to pay the tax from Newegg. This by far was the worst customer service I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. Do yourself a favor and avoid this seller, you will thank yourself in the long run.
