"I placed an order for a product that was clearly marked FREE SHIPPING. Subsequently, I was charged $6.89 shipping fee. I sent numerous messages requesting the shipping fee be removed and they refused. I have filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau. This is my first and last purchase from this seller. I would like to know why reseller ratings constantly recommends this company even though their ratings are extremely poor. Is it a "deal" if it requires you to snatch your product from a hungry alligators mouth ?? Obviously all their "deals" are bait."
"On 12/9/06 I placed an order for 4 books on buy.com. The order arrived on 12/20/06, after I had already left for vacation. I returned on 1/4/07 to discover they had shipped the incorrect items (2 CDs instead of 4 books). I contacted them immediately to explain the situation and was told that my 14 day return period (from the day the items left the warehouse) had expired and I could not return the items. After carefully explaining to them that they had shipped the WRONG items they agreed to investigate. Two weeks later, they agreed to accept the return and issued an RMA, and I promptly returned the items. They received the return on 1/25/07. It is now 2/5/07 and they still haven't issued a replacement order, but they tell me in 2 days they will. If that happens, they'll ship using media mail which will take another 10 days.
It's been almost 2 months since I placed my order, and I'm still waiting. The customer service at buy.com is absolutely horrible, and I will NEVER purchase from them again. If you are persistent, your problem may ultimately be solved, but it will be a long and frustrating process. Buyer Beware. "
"On 12/22/06 I ordered TurboTax Home and Business. It was shipped on 12/26/06 and arrived on 12/29/06. However, it was the WRONG item. It was TurboTax Premier. I contacted Buy.com on 1/29/06 about the error and waited until 1/2/07 to receive the RMA. I mailed the item back. It arrived back at their facility 1/9/07 (UPS tracking). I was told I would receive the replacement in 5-7 days. I emailed several times and was told it would be shipped soon. However, Buy.com didn’t finish processing the order and mail a new item until 1/31/07 (22 days after they received the item back and 5 weeks since I ordered it). Again it was the WRONG item. It was TurboTax Premier. I contacted them again on 1/31/07 and asked them to send me the correct version without waiting another 5 weeks for them to process the order & get it back to me and they have only responded by telling me to return the item and they will mail out the correct version after the receive the incorrect version and “process” it. Very Likely!!"

I ordered HDTV Kit Cables, and I was really dissapointed with what had been delivered. The box had different cables manufactures. One of them had "Steren" instead "Velocity". The other had no brand. The HDMI had no brand and so HDMI connector. So,they tried to mix w/ different brands. I checked with "Cables To Go" which carries Velocity brand(the distributor), and "Cables To Go" does not carry "Steren" brand. I gonna report Buy.Com to Cables To Go for cheating them. Finally, I sent it back. Now, I'm still waiting for a replacement, and I don't if this will cause the rebate expired because of the delay. JUST BE CAREFUL."
"My software order (for Dragon Naturally Speaking) seemed to be doing fine until online tracking showed the USPS had determined that it was undeliverable and was being returned to the shipper. I'd had several items from Buy.com sent to the same address (my office) before without problems. When I looked more closely at the address, I found the the company name had been omitted, leaving just my name in a multi-floor office building.
I found that the Buy.com website now silently deleted that line if I selected an address other than the default. (Although weirdly, if I selected the same address a second time, it wasn't omitted!)
My attempts to rectify this were agonizing. Emails contacts were auto-answered with no sign that a person had read mine. After waiting on hold for close to an hour, I spent another 30 minutes with a CSR who said he'd ask his supervisor to recommend sending me a replacement copy of DNS. Needless to say, it never came. I finally bought DNS locally since I really needed it.
In the end I contested the charge with AMEX, and within a day or two Buy.com issued a refund. What a waste of time!!"
"Purchased a CL noise cxling headphones from Buy.com with a $30 rebate to be postmarked by 01/13/07. Got an e-mail about the product being on backorder - Manufacturer not having item in stock. Called manufacturer directly to find out that this is not true. Call Buy.com to confirm - No answer on the customer service number - called atleast 15 times. Sent maybe 10 e-mails to ask about the product delivery before 01/13/07. Typical scripted replies. Finally get a response today telling me that the rebate expired on 01/13/07 therefore I do not qualify for it and if I want to cxl the Item I can do so at "buy.com" url. I would ban any deals on Buy.com since they are not at all efficient and I personally use Slickdeals.net for deals on electronics and its not good PR for this wonderfull site."
"I've been buying from buy.com for 10 years (yeah, an old timer). I will not be buying from them again.
I'd read all the bad reports from people, but never understood them. I had never had any problems with buy.com, so why not just keep buying?
Well, it turns out, if you encounter a problem, you are in TROUBLE. Customer service is non-existent. They really do NOT care about you, the customer, at all.
My last 2 orders were unsatisfactory, and I wasn't able to get any help from CS. No responses to emails, and the phone reps act like their job is simply to get you off the phone as quickly as possible.
My most recent problem was a 2gb USB drive, the price of which was artificially jacked up to cover the large rebate amount (allowing buy.com to advertise the product as "free after rebate"). But the manufacturer did not pay the rebate, and buy.com says "sorry, charlie". If you want more details, just google "connect3d rebate" and you'll find them."
"Over past 2 years I have purchased at least 10 items from this store, and always had great experience. Once there was a delay in shipping
items (cell phone holster), but they did communicate that apprpriately. Every other times I received my items within a week, and in excellent condition. So far I always used their free shipping. I am surprised to see such a low rating for this company. "
"I ordered a webcam via GCO. It didn't ship until well over 2 weeks later. I didn't recieve it until a nearly a whole month later. The webcam was associated with a rebate, and whether or not I will get my rebate reward back remains in question.
Previously, I've also purchased a stack of 100 DVD+Rs, but Buy.com shipped me DVD-Rs instead. Not only that, but it shipped without sufficient packing material, the spindle was damaged and the discs were thrown all over when opening the box. The discs were ok, and I didn't bother trying to return them, as my burner can do both. It would have been a hassle and not worth the trouble to deal with the horrible CS that is Buy.com But I will not buy from them again."

On December 19, 2006 I ordered a pair of sennheiser headphones and an ipod case. Using google checkout, I got the total down to $41.96. I paid extra shipping and handling to ensure it would get here by Christmas. It arrived December 28, 2006, but never really arrived. They shipped me the wrong order. It took two phone calls and a manger to get an RMA number. I shipped the package back on Jan 4, 2007. It got there Jan 12, 2007. I was told it would take a maximum of 3-5 business days for processing. I called on the 19 expecting them to say it was on its way. They told me it would be processed the next day. I spoke to the manager because I felt I should get expedited shipping because it was a mistake on their part and they had already breached their contract twice. She told me she wouldn't and abruptly hung up. I called back yesterday, Feb 1, 2007 to find out it still hadn't processed. This is over a month since I ordered the product. I canceled my order and bought elsewhere. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM."
"VERY BAD! Returned items (toys) they will not refund - Say the did not get it. UPS has a signed confirmation that they have it yet they will not issue my credit. They blame google for not refunding me to. I buy tons online this is the first store I would and will warn has many people as I can. Buy at your own risk. Your better off going to ebay. "
"I will never buy from buy.com again. The website description of 3 identical hard-drives I purchased both from the manufactuer and buy.com indicated that they could be used on a Mac computer. After I tried to install these drives with no success, the manufacturer support told me that they could only be used on the most recent version of OSX (Tiger) though the box only indicated that it ran on OSX, One of the drives was missing all the paperwork and had no doubt been re-shink-wrapped. I ended up paying over $37.00 restocking fee on merchandise costing $300, which I think is exhorbitant as there was no seal on these packages and only one of the 3 packages had been opened. "
"I ordered a Iomega - Floppy + 7-in-1 card reader but they goofed on my order and sent me something entirely differently. I e-mailed them and they were prompt in responding with a shipping label which I used right away to return the wrong merchandise. According to the shipping company, they did receive the package. I waited 5 days for them to update my order online to show that they had received the package and had sent a replacement. When nothing showed up in that timeframe I called their customer service. After waiting on hold for an hour, I got a service rep who told me that the package was received but maximum timeframe for processing returns is 7 days and there was nothing they could do about that and 7 days had not passed. So beware, Buy.com does not work very quickly to rectify their mistakes and to contact their service department is subpar and unsatisfactory. Seven days to process a return and get a replacement shipped is unsatisfactory especially when the problem is their fault and not the customer's. This poor lack of customer serivce (long processing time and long waits on hold) will be something I will seriously consider when ordering in the future. Doubt that they will be on my list of top vendors - especially if the item is something that I want to be shipped quickly and correctly. "
"I have ordered from BUY.COM over the past 2 plus years. HAVE NEVER been disapointed in anything. They have always shipped when promised. They have always charged my CC with the correct amount. They answer all emails. They do have a toll free # that is very hard to find on the web site, but I do have it and they answer the phone and have always been very polite. I have read other stories about them, but too be fair, I WOULD BUY from them AGAIN.

"originally ordered two packs of g-200 photo paper(200 sheets)on dec 20. They sent two packs of g-50(50 sheets)instead. I returned it twice,talked to customer service four times. They then raised the price on their website and told my they ran out so they had to issue me a refund. I could order it again,but at the higher price.BE AWARE...this is a bait and switch operation.I will never order from here again!!! "
