"Wow, where do I start with this store? Years ago I had such a terible experience with a digital camera that I swore I would NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN! Well, the Google Checkout promotion changed my mind :) I placed a few orders around Christmas time, and all but two were delivered fine. In this case, I ordered a "Kensington Pocket Presenter Wireless Remote Control" (to use at work to change the Powerpoint slides). Instead they sent me headphones! (Labtec Elite-825; a web search showed these at clearance sites for around $5 w/o rebate). I contacted them 9 days after they arrived, and they sent me a form letter telling me that: " Please note that we cannot honor your request for a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA#) as the 14 days return time frame is over. However, some product manufacturers offer warranty replacement or repair services. " To make matters worse, there was a $15 rebate with the wireless presenter, and there was also a $15 rebate with the headphones--even if I wanted to just keep the headphones (which I dont!), I couldn't send in the rebate because the invoice shows the wireless presenter!
Now ask yourself, would Amazon.com do this to a customer? Nope. Guess I'll go write a review about a minor problem with a Christmas Amazon purchase that they fixed ASAP. My new New Years resolution: "No matter how good the deal seems to be; NEVER SHOP AT BUY.COM AGAIN!!!".
30 Nov 2009 Update: I have kept my resolve to never shop at Buy.com due to the multiple problem I had over the years which apparently have continued. I see their overall ratings are still in the dumps compared to Newegg and Amazon. It appears that they are now starting to actually review these ratings, but don't believe the lies... your satisfaction is not their top priority!"
"I ordered a digital picture frame on 12/5/06. After receiving an email acknowledging
the order on 12/5/06, I heard nothing further from them.
I periodically checked their website and saw that the "order had been sent to the warehouse". Then 12 days after placing the order, it said that
the item was "on order". I immediately cancelled the order and bought the item elsewhere.
The next day I received a notice telling
me the item had shipped. At that point I asked how to return the item and was told that I could refuse shipment from the carrier and receive a
refund which I did.
According to UPS the returned item was received by buy.com on 12/29/06. I still heard nothing so on 1/15/07 I wrote to ask about the status of my refund and was told "a refund of $93.11 has been requested towards your order. However, this is only a request that needs to be approved before the refund is applied."
17 days after receiving a return package which had been never been unopened by me, which I had never even touched so there was no need to verify if everything was there and in working order and the refund has yet to be approved.
I should also add that contrary to buy.com's ststed policy which states that your credit card is not billed until the item has shipped, my credit card was billed when the item was ordered, 2 weeks before it shipped."
"Buy.com has really fallen apart in the past few years. Their "Free Shipping" is slow, and twice items have been lost. And they are VERY slow to respond.
As an example of how horrible Buy.com support is, read the following e-mail, and consider that AFTER I got it (which itself came THREE weeks after my shipment was lost), they had the gall to send out a NEW shipment and not refund my money. One month later I still don't have a refund.

We apologize for the inconvenience. We would like to inform you that your claim for replacement that has been filed on 12/12/06 has already been changed to refund.

After hours on the phone talking with the idiots who dont pay taxes over in india i came to find out they cant do a DAMN thing for you other than read whats on their computer screen. even 3 levels of managers! finally after a week of emails back and forth they figure out that the package that weighed 0.01LBS did not contain my item so they re-shipped it GROUND... not overnight! no compensation whatsoever. "Buy.com is a scam! Placed my order using paypal. But, that order got cancelled because my mailing address wasn't verified with paypal. Decided to use my credit card instead. Unfortunately, buy.com wouldn't let me use the coupon because "I had already applied it towards my paypal purchase and only 1 of the coupons (apparently, per email address) can be issued" even though it was buy.com that cancelled my paypal purchase and I didn't actually use the coupon. So, I wanted the coupon and had my friend purchase the item instead. The next day, apparently, he had to 'verify his mailing address with his credit card company'. Upon doing this, it was ridiculous to get in touch with buy.com to tell them to "re-try" the order. So, I had him cancel it and, this time, I used a different email address when I ordered with my credit card so that I could use the coupon. Everything seemed cool (it had already taken nearly 1 week to place the order). The next day, their website showed that the item was out of stock. I waited more than 1 month. I decided I was tired of waiting - I cancelled my order with their customer service agent who explicitly told me that "since my credit card had not been charged yet and since the item had not shipped, my credit card wouldn't be charged". My order showed 'cancelled' on their website so I proceeded to then purchase the same item from a different website. Less than 1 hour later, I got an email saying that the order had already shipped and therefore couldn't be cancelled even though I had already went and purchased the same item from a different website. I'm in california as is buy.com but the other website that I ordered from is in New York -> the other website didn't ship my item until the next day's evening; I then received the item from BOTH companies the following morning (buy.com from california: 2 days [not counting the more than 1 month of waiting time], competitor from New York, less than 12 hours) :-( Do NOT buy from them; they should be shut down for being completely and utterly illegal in their business practices."
"A HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Customer service is non-existant! Email replies were generic form letters outlining policy that was not relative to the original question. When calling the toll free number it refers to another number for support. And though it says 24hr support the reps are overseas (India) and have no authority to do anything, they suggested a supervisor, but they are not not available for customer consultation after 5PM. So I called back on a Saturday. Hold time the first call was over an hour, and the call got disconnected on hold. I spent 3 hours ON HOLD trying to get through to this company. And when I did finally get through they would not return a product because it was over 14 days time. (The return policy is 14 days from date of shipment). I explained that it took a week to get it, and 5 days emailing to support because the web RMA form was not working right. They just didnt care at all. Said that is the policy and thats it. They said no one at the company has authority to make any exception in policy. Therefore, I would not recommend this company at all. There customer service is horrible, there return policy is just as bad. Its amazing that the owner is so rich because this place needs serious help. Buyer beware!

"I ordered a Polaroid Photo Printer from them on Dec 15 when it was advertised as free after mail-in rebates, which must be postmarked within 30 days of purchase. They claimed to ship the item on Dec 18 via FedEx, however, it has been 20 days and I have not received the item. I noticed that the shipping status on FedEx website remained "Package data transmitted to FedEx", which according to FedEx means only the shipping label has been generated online while the package has NEVER been shipped.
Therefore I emailed them multiple times, trying to solve this problem. I was told that the package was lost and they wanted to file a lost package claim on my behalf, which obvious is a lie. I also tried to call them, but after being hold for over 50 minutes I gave up.
Therefore, I would highly recommend against shopping there; if you insist, you can only count that nothing will go wrong after you place the order; if it does, you are on your own. "

"I ordered a LVM-37W3 on Christmas evening after seeing it on sale. After using the additional Google checkout discount the total came to about $1020 including shipping. The order was processed on the 26th and shipped on the 27th. Unfortunately no tracking information was provided and after sending an email and calling customer service, which is useless, I was finally sent an email on the 9th with a Sekoworldwide tracking number. Early in that day I was contacted by that shipping company and told to expect my order on the 12th so I found out from them before getting the information from Buy.com.
The tv did arrive in good condition and has worked very well for me so far. Not knowing where my shipping was for that period caused soem conternation but I was pleased overall with the delivery time considering the cost."
"I placed an order for 2 books and 1 cd for my daughter for Christmas- somehow the order duplicated and the above order was to be shipped to me and the second order to my daughter-try explaining this dilemma to a Mr. Sandy Gibson who is supposedly a supervisor at Buy.com in their customer service department which is located in New Delhi, India--- he understood MAYBE, ever other word I said- promised to get me a refund immediately and since my daughter didn't receive all of her items- one was sent from california to california and they could not explain why, he told me the only way I could get that item was to re-order and in all actuality I would be paying for it for the THIRD TIME without receiving the merchandise. I told him I just wanted to be refunded for the wrong order and that one item- he PROMISED he would send me an e mail immediately confirming our conversation and his order for the refund--- that was 2 days ago---I guess I can kiss that money good bye unless I want to have a nervous breakdown being on hold for over one hour and still no resolution to this matter. BUY.COM IS THE WORSE COMPANY OUT THERE--- I WOULD NOT CHANCE BUYING A TOOTHPICK FROM THEM AND I PROBABLY WILL NEVER GET MY MONEY BACK FROM THEM!!!"
"They shipped the wrong item...they used a photo of a product box showing professional version but shipped the standard version instead....I have sent a jpg of the screen print I made when I placed the order showing Professional version...sent it many times in many emails and all I get is the run-around.
Terrible, terrible customer service !!!!!

"Pretty good prices, but miserable customer support and shipping.
I needed 15 books for a class that I'm teaching and _paid_ for 3-5 day shipping so that I would get the books on time. When I got the UPS tracking number, I checked and they had the delivery scheduled 9 days after the date they shipped it from their warehouse (not the order date). In other words, they shipped it Budget even though I paid for regular shipping. I contacted their Customer Service dept and they declined to upgrade to the shipping that I paid for and said basically "tough luck." Now I have to get an RMA and _pay for_ the shipping again to send it back to them."
"We ordered a stick of RAM for one of our customers through Buy.com. However, Buy.com shipped us an EMPTY box! They are replacing the RAM that they never packed, however they are shipping it via a slow method when, due to their error, they should have been shipping it via a faster method. This has put our projects for our customer behind schedule(would have been on schedule had they not sent us an EMPTY box)!
