"I put in a pre-order for 2 copies of a PC game back in October, which was to be released by November. When I purchased it, the site guaranteed they would ship on its release date. Come November, they told me that the item was back-ordered and would arrive on Jan 25th. Unfortunately, by that time I was moving out of my apartment, so emailed them 3 times to try to change the shipping address... never a reply back--only automated emails that didn't address my problem. I called them and they put me on hold for 20 minutes just to have some lady in India (who could barely speak English) tell me that they have no power to change my shipping address!! How ridiculous is that, how can they not have the ability to change your shipping address when the item wasn't even in the warehouse, and hasn't even been charged, and not to mention shipped? I was so angry at their incompetence. So I bought the games somewhere else and put in a cancellation request for both items. A week later, they said I couldn't cancel the item because one shipped already, and they charged my card! So that order was shipping to the wrong address, and I had to go through the hassle of intercepting the package via UPS and re-routing it. This weekend, I tried to call them and cancel the other shipment. When I called customer service they put me on hold for 20 minutes, and once some guy in India picked up, he said he has no ability to cancel my order on his computer, and he had to give me the number to customer service. He didn't even have the ability to TRANSFER me to customer service, he said I had to call them. I said, "I AM CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE!" I was infuriated but called the number he gave me, waited, only to have another Indian guy tell me that he can put in a cancellation REQUEST but couldn't guarantee that it would be cancelled. I told him, "Look at my account. I ALREADY placed a cancellation request for both items. And you shipped one anyway. How do I know you did anything different than what I did? I don't want you to put in a cancellation request--I want you to cancel it and confirm that it's cancelled!!" He kept repeating he couldn't do anything but put in a cancellation request, but couldn't guarantee anything. He didn't even have a case number. DO NOT BUY FROM BUY.COM EVER. Their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced."
"Purchased 2 items, a CD and some DVD-r's.
The CD arrived via US MAIL fine, and I have had good success with the google checkout and buy.com, but THEY SHIPPED AND EMPTY BOX for the DVD-rs. The box was filled with packing paper, but the spindle of 100 DVD-rs was not in there.
They said NO REFUND because I got the box. You have GOT to be kidding. I am an attorney and don't need to llie about getting an empty box, but this is ridiculous. TERRIBLE customer service."
"I have never had a problem with Buy.com in the three years that I have been buying from their web site. I ordered a compact flash card reader on December 12th and received it 3 or 4 days later with no problems. I also ordered a Canon PowerShot SD700 IS Digital Camera on December 6th. It also arrived several days later with no problems."
"There could not be a worse company to deal with. If I was the operators of slickdeals.net, I would entirely stop working with these guys. I have contacted them 3 times due to a broken item sold to me. I bought the Wireless Music System for the iPod from them. The transmitter was broken. First, they tried to give me run around about going back to the manufacturer, which was bogus. I contacted the company as soon as I tried to hook it up. Then, I e-mailed them again and they said that someone would call me. Well, here I sit more than a month later. No phone call. Still broken transmitter. Another problem with them, they have no customer service number. Probably because they could not hire the staff to deal with all the complaints and broken merchandise. Like I said, this company is terrible. I don't blame slickdeals.net at all. But, I will NEVER shop with them again. I don't think anyone else should. "BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!Where to start? Short story, do NOT, under any circumstances, order anything from Buy.com. I Ordered a 12 disc DVD collection on 1/4/07 using an "e-coupon" or the like for $5 OFF, the site offered free shipping. I purchased and was sent a confirmation email the same day listing all the checkout info, $52.97 + $2.65 tax for a grand total of $55.62. Checked site repeatedly only to see 'Sent to Warehouse', which I'd never seen anything like and essentially means nothing. Emailed Buy.com on 1/12/07 with no response. Cancelled my order on 1/16/07, at which time I saw something else I'd never seen before, a 'Request to Cancel' on my purchase. Incredibly, they were able to cancel my '$5 OFF', but my purchase was in some sort of cancelling queue. But wait, it gets better. The next day, my purchase is being 'Shipped' to me. Coincidence? I doubt it. And yet, it gets better still. Now that my product is being 'Shipped', there is tracking inforamtion available. A UPS tracking number? FedEx? Not quite, simply an internal tracking number that indicates my package "arrived at a shipping partner facility at 8:21 am on January 17, 2007 in HEBRON, KY". So, at least my order is on its way, right. All I need to do now is have them "un-cancel" my $5 OFF. I have traded no less than four emails requesting they reapply the $5 discount to my order. To which their response is a form letter stating that they cannot honor my request because they cannot combine free shipping and a discount. This would be totally understandable had they NOT processed my order and sent me an email confirming my total due with the $5 OFF applied to the order. So, to bring this adventure to a conclusion, Buy.com is a shady company with no sense of customer service. They have no real information posted on their site, only vague statements to string customers along. It is now 1/19/07 and my package is still in KY, at least according to their website. I am torn as to whether to dispute my charge with my credit card company or simply refuse shipment. From reading the other reviews here, I am leaning towards refusing shipment out of fear my DVDs will somehow be less than they are supposed to be and have to further deal with the lack of customer service from Buy.com. Stay away from Buy.com!!! "
"Roller Coaster ride buying from Buy.com. They shipped quickly, however they short-shipped me 1 pc of my order. Customer service could only be reached by their website or email which made the following days unbearable. I supplied valuable information like the package weight & tracking number to show that the package was too light and that this was truly a case of short shipment. Delayed response came and all they could say was that my claim has been closed because they show I received my package. Frustrated that they cannot tell the difference between my claim of a short-shipment versus receipt of the package, I searched on the internet for a phone number from other unhappy customers. Finally, pay dirt. I used the local number ***-***-**** and asked the operator to transfer me to Doug Pearce & not customer service which I found out goes to India. I was transferred to Michael P. at extension 2283 who was very nice and handled my claim in about 2 minutes. Happy ending but it came with lots of frustration. Dealing with customer service in another country is certainly hurting their reputation. Hopefully my bluetooth headset finally now gets delivered.......to be continued..."
"Great site. Good selection, low prices, and almost always free shipping. Google checkout gives big discount and no trouble. I don't know why people give it such a low rating. ordered 3 times from them in dec and nov and all orders were delivered within expected time frame.
The only thing buy.com should work on is learn how to pack. A single piece of brown paper is not enough(although none of my items broke)."
"I bought at buy.com with Google check out. I had ordered at buy.com a couple of times before and it always worked out fine and they delivered on or before time.
I ordered three DVD’s on 12/24 on 12/26 and 12/27 I got emails stating that my order had been shipped. It never arrived.
Other than other online stores buy.com does not provide a tracking number from the carrier just an internal tracking link which is absolutely useless. As of today the status on my order still is: shipped on 12/27/2006, no delivery information available for this tracking number.
My emails to Google and buy.com inquiring about my order never got answered except by resending the order confirmation. I called customer service to file a claim and was on hold for 1 hour 15 minutes.
Now it gets even more obscure ... hang on!
The customer service rep told me it would take 3-4 business days to file my claim with Google and than another 5-7 business days to reimburse me.
In times of computers and networks there is no reason what so ever for this kind of delays. It's simple a form of bad attitude towards the customer.
But it gets even better:
I didn't get a confirmation or claim #or a confirmation email stating that my claim was filed. And was told I would "just need to trust them" that it got filed.
Give me a break! I trusted them with my order and money and they were not able to perform for more than 3 weeks. Trust is something that needs to be earned by conducting good business.
I am outraged at such an attitude. Buy.com and Google check out lost my business.

"I have bought from Buy.com for a LONGGGGGG time. This is my first bad experience since they first opened. Long story short... DON'T use PayPal. I made an order. They notified me that PayPal had not paid, but when I checked PayPal, the money had been transferred, the order was listed as pending. The next day. The order is canceled, no refund as of yet. Told after 2HOURS on the phone the best I can do is wait for 3-5 days for a refund.
January 18,2007... Managed to get resolution via PayPal. Thanks PayPal for your help. As others have said... Buy.com and PayPal don't mix!!! Someone at Buy.com needs to wake up and fix this before your customer base erodes. I got what I needed today from NewEgg.com. Should have looked harder there first. Saved $$$ too!!!!"
"I have already wasted several hours of my time with Buy.com so I don't want to waste other potential buyers. I ordered Turbo Tax Business in December so I could get an early start on my 2006 taxes. One week later I received a package contaning the order for another person and the wronf product. Obtained an RMA# and returned the wrong product. Almost 1 month later I have received their shipment with the wrong Turbo Tax product again. I'm now returning for credit and fully expect they will not correctly provide credit. An I will have to start phase 3. I don't understand how they can stay in business."
"I ordered a product from buy.com on November 20, 2006. The status of the product was "IN STOCK" when I ordered it. Today is 1/16/07, and all I've gotten is emails saying the product is out of stock.
Prior to Christmas, I wrote an angry e-mail demanding the status of my shipment, or a date when they were getting more of the product in stock. I was responded with an e-mail that basically said "Sorry, your product is out of stock. If your request is urgent, we can e-mail you our phone number."
I googled their number, called them, was on hold for more than 15 minutes for customer support. I called corporate, and got an operator. The talk went something like this:
Op: "Hello, thanks for calling buy.com, please hold."
2 mins later
Op: "Hello, thanks for calling buy.com, how may I help you?"
Me: "Hi, I was just on hold with customer support for over 15 minutes. Is there any way you could cut me in with a representative immediately or with someone who can actually do something for me?" (I'd read that the Indian support has NO power).
Op: "Sorry, hold time is expected when calling customer support because other customers are calling and waiting as well."
Me: "I know that a wait is expected. I just think it's ****ing ridiculous that I've waited for my package to ship for more than 2 months and when I try and inquire about it I have to hold for more than 15 minutes to talk to support. A company like buy.com should have the resources to employ more than 10 customer support representatives, but whatever."
Op: "Please hold while I connect you to customer support."
I never did get ahold of customer support. I cancelled my order and opted to spend $15 more on the product at another online retailer.

"Ordered an item with Buy.com paid with PayPal, completed the order then logged off.
A couple of hours later I get email from Buy.com customer service that my order was not complete and it will be cancelled within 3 hours if don't complete it.
Called their customer service ***-***-**** spoke with a rep and he said they were having some issues but will take care of the problem and nothing else is required from my side.
I voiced my concern that the email said that the order will be cancelled if issue was not resolved (was not clear exactly what the issue was to begin with, he could not tell me either). He assured my that the order has been placed and I should be getting a shipping confirmation email in a few hours.
Next morning I get an email from Buy.com customer service indicating that my order was cancelled.
Verified with PayPal and customer service rep verified that payment was indeed sent to Buy.com.
Called Buy.com customer service to find out what happened to my order. All I was told was the order was CANCELLED (I already knew that) and I was getting my refund within 3 to 5 business day. Buy.com customer service rep was not really able to explain why the order was cancelled in the first place (very frustrating. I'm sure for her also).
Long story short, Buy.com I rate customer service a "F" and the company itself a big fat "F", I don't think I'll be ordering from this company anymore. I just wonder how much business Buy.com is losing because of these types of issues.
It would not have been too bad if I was able to talk to a customer rep who knew what the problem was. It almost seem that their responses were scripted somehow.
Hopefully Buy.com management is made aware of this and take the necessary corrective action."
"I ordered a westinghouse LVM-37W3 from buy.com becuase they had an awesome price, and with the extra google checkout price reduction, it almost seemed too good to be true.
i placed the order on the 26th, and it took about 4-5 days before my order was sent to the warehouse to be filled. after about another 2-3 days, i got an email saying that they were out of stock. How exciting that was.
after i ordered the LCD, i came here just to see what people had to say, i should've come before i ordered. I promptly canceled my order and hoped that they would not ship it and still charge me.
i ordered from newegg and paid a bit more, but it shipped out the next day and i recieved the LCD a day earlier then expected.
also, i sent them two emails regarding the order which were replied to about 4 days later. i looked around online for a phone number, i got one and was promptly transferred to india where i got the same information that i would have gotten from just going to their website."
