"As said by others, DO NOT BUY from Buy.com. Their return policy is 14 days from the time it leaves their warehouse and they are EXTREMELY slow to ship. Basically, you have to get a refund by canceling the charge on your card. Terrible company to do business with.
"
"I will NEVER buy from Buy.com EVER!!! and will make it known to everyone I can. They have a 14 dat return policy and that is 14 days from the tiome it leaves their warehouse.
I ordered a camera for a Christmas gift, hours after ordering it I cancelled the order because i realized I ordered the wrong one. I never received comformation from them regarding the cencellation and then i tried to get return info and only got a generic email as a response.I finally get a response on Christmas eve that I have to have it in the mail on the 14th day which would be Christmas day!!They refuse to give me a return authorization for something I have been trying to send back for over a week. The box has never even been opened and they refuse to take the item back. They have a very BAD return policy and they will suffer loss of business."
"I ordered 4 books from Buy.com, two of which were delivered on Dec. 5 and one on Dec. 9. The one book that was the reason for making this purchase entitled The Writing Road to Reading: The Spalding Method for Teaching Speech, Spelling, Writing, and Reading (Rev) was not fulfilled. After receiving the three other books, I checked the tracking number which no information was available at the time. The problem started when I checked it again on Dec. 22 where it says shipped under status. I clicked on the Buy.com's tracking number link and was shocked to see that my book was delivered on December 18 at 7:35 a.m. in Fremont, CA when I live in Nebraska. I called the Customer Service line, got routed in New Delhi India on Dec. 22. The representative accused the USPS for the error. I requested that Buy.com to send me another one since it was their mistake because my address is written clearly in the receipt and that I needed it before Christmas. She said that she will forward the concern to the Corporate Office and someone will call me on the same day. Christmas had passed and nobody from Buy.com called me. I called again on Dec. 28 spoke with Bill again from India at 2:38 p.m. who accused me of refusing the package that was why it was returned to the warehouse. I told him "how can I refused the package I never got?" I asked for a supervisor and Bill put me on hold for over 44 minutes, hearing someone picked-up not saying anything and put me on hold again three times. Somebody eventually picked-up claiming he is a Supervisor who said his name is Will Rogers, who sounded more like Bill. He did not resolve the problem. We had the same dialogue as Bill. He hang-up on me when I got upset. Who wouldn't be upset with this situation? I decided to check the Tracking number with usps.com and I found out that the package never got to Nebraska at all. It originated in St. Paul, MN, enroute to Richmond, CA, and delivered to Fremont, CA. Is it the USPS fault? No. The USPS responsibility only is to deliver the package to the address on the label. I e-mailed Doug Pearce about this problem including the complete USPS routing. He never responded to my e-mail instead he let the Customer Service Representative respond to it saying my credit card is refunded $4.02 and taking away the $10 discount off the $30 purchase doing the Google Checkout. He never acknowledge their mistake. I told Buy.com over and over that I do not want the refund, I want the book that I ordered. "
"I was very surprised to see such a low rating for buy.com. I just ordered a hard drive at around 7pm on Friday and received it SATURDAY before 4pm. And the shipping was FREE. I have bought items there before and (knock on wood) have always had great experiences. They are fast and usually very reasonably priced. I give them a 10.
I always recommend them to people looking for computer and electronic stuff. Great prices and fast delivery. I have never had to send anything back so I can't comment on any customer service questions. "
"I started ordering from Buy.com recently because of the $20 off $50 promotion they had in conjunction with Google. I placed 5 or more separate orders with them and all of the items shipped very promptly. They did cancel 1 item that I had ordered because it was no longer in stock, but I didn't mind since it was only a ream of paper that I had ordered as filler to hit the $50 minimum. All items were well packaged and arrived when estimated. My experience with Buy.com has been quite good so far. I haven't ever had a reason to deal with customer service, so I can't comment on that. Also, compared to my recent dealings with Overstock.com, this was much more pleasant."
"The order was placed on 12-9. A confirmation email was sent immediately afterward confirming my order. My credit card was charged on 12-9. After several emails to find out why the item had not shipped with no response Buy.com sent an email on 12-18 that the item was not in stock and they did not have an estimated time of arrival for the item. I was also informed that “If you decide not to wait for this product, you may request for a cancellation by visiting our web site or reply to this email requesting that you want to cancel the item.” I replyed to the email that I wanted to cancel the order. I did not receive a response to this and numerous subsequent emails to cancel my order. After I asked Google Checkout to mediate a dispute with this outfit I received, within hours, an email saying that my item had shipped and was on its way. Now all I have to do is refuse shipping and wait up to 28 days to get a refund on my card. Insane. I will never use these jokers again.
Poor communication, shady practices and boderline illegal operation.

"I ordered an eVGA 680i motherboard the 23rd from buy.com wit the 20/50 deal using Google checkout and free ground shipping(7 to 9 days). The motherboard arrived the afternoon of the 28th. Installed the board this evening and everything is running great."
"I purchased three books from buy.com and only received two. When I wrote to them, they said the package has been delivered, and denied my claim. Well, the package was delivered, but it did not contain the correct amount of books! They refuse to do anything to help me, and have simply denied my claim. I paid with my debit card so I can't put it a claim. If you ever do business with Buy.com DONT pay with a debit! use a credit card, you will need it when you are ripped off. I will NEVER do business with them again. "
"I purchased a Logitech mouse using the google checkout of $20 off $50, great deal. Turned out that the Logitech software had conflicts with my Microsoft keyboard software (Logitech pre-sales rep. said that would not be a problem).
Long story short is; I returned the mouse and was charged a 15% restock fee. I have been a customer of buy.com for years and this is the second or third item out of numerous purchases that I have returned and I have never been charged this fee before, and to top it off they based it on the normal price not the google discounted price.
I contacted their customer service via telephone (they had very thick and hard to understand accents, like maybe they are in a foreign country) and was told that the new return policy was if you so much as cut the tape seal on the items box you will be charged the 15% restock. This means that if you open the box and discover that you don't like it or is not what you expected, you just ate 15% of the purchase price (before any discounts) plus shipping both ways.
I told them that if the $13 was worth more to them then a long time customer, fine, I can certainly buy from Newegg and others on the internet and they could consider me done with Buy.com. I have also canceled their sale emails.
The rep's response was there is nothing he could do about the fee so I asked for a supervisor. After an hour on hold (as I was not giving up) a supervisor came on the line and gave me the same song and dance. Both of these people also told me that they would let corporate know my feelings and that I should hear something from them. Well that never happened so I sent an email to which they responded that they could not return the 15% at this time, like they might sometime in the future, yeah right.
My advice is to buy elsewhere until they get their head out of the sand and realize long term repeat customers are worth a lot more then $13.
By the way I just returned an item to Newegg that had been opened and I discovered was not what I thought it would be and their customer service rep waived the restock charge (I have about the same number of sales and years of patronage in with them as I do Buy.com).
Now that is TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

"I didn't have problems with buy.com until now. I purchased a caselogic 128 heavy duty cd wallet for 15.99. It came to 5.99 with google checkout. The next day I see the price has gone up to 24.99 and it's been a month now that my order has been on backorder. I email them about the order and that I see the item in stock on their site but they just send me useless emails about the details of my order but they never answer the question about when my order will ship. I'm gonna just buy from newegg and pay a little more for the best service on the net."
"I ordered two monitors from them when the website says ships within 1 to 2 business days. I wait 10 days nothing form them. I sent two emails that were ignored I finally had to cancel my orders beware. It looks like they advertise what seems like a good deal and when you order they won't ship the item "
"THE WORST. Don't even think of falling for buy.com's low prices. I ordered a new Navman icn530. When it arrived, we found that the mounting bracket was missing. We ordered a new device. I now believe buy.com sent a refurbished one -- there's no way the factory would ship a new item with a molded slot for a part that isn't there. IT GETS WORSE. When I called to get the part, I was on hold for an hour before reaching someone in a nation where the English was so heavily accented I couldn't make out a word they were saying -- and I've been to 80 countries and speak a half-dozen languages. I called back and was, barely, able to make out what they were saying which was: someone will call you in a week. Unacceptable. I asked for a supervisor. After another hour on hold, I gave up. I'll send an e-mail and hope -- hope -- that someone gives a damn about their customers at this place. My hopes are not high."
"Between work and personal purchases I have shopped buy.com maybe 10-12 times in the past couple of years with few if any complaints. That's why when I was shopping for an MP3 player I didn't hesitate to, um, buy from buy.com.
What a mistake.
I ordered a SanDisk Sansa E260 MP3 player and had it shipped USPS. On the day the package arrived I removed it from my mail box as the mail truck was driving away. I (excitedly) though "man, this thing is light!". And boy was it. The mailer contained empty product box. Only the cardboard showing a picture of what was supposed to be inside the box was actually in the box. The mailer itself showed no signs of tampering.
Over the next 4 weeks I spent hours emailing and calling buy.com to have this issue resolved. My claim has been refused twice. Phone hold times are lengthy and although you get an email response telling you your support question will be answered in 6 hours, the quickest they responded to any of my many emails was 40 hours later. And in the end, both my initial and escalated support queries were answered with the same cut-and-paste block of text and backhanded accusation of fraud.
There is no excuse for the poor customer support.
I understand the difficulty in dealing with fraud. But a good online company needs to be able to profile their customer and determine the likelihood of fraud and act accordingly. buy.com has completely failed on this account and I will never shop them again."
"Ordered a LCD monitor on DEC 25. With my PAYPAL account they sent me a email saying that the order was cancel due to my adress not being verifed. Told me my money would be refuned in 24 hours 3 days later still no refund.Called there customer service and got the run around. Funny same adress everthing else is shipped to when useing PAYPAl. NEVER AGAIN WITH THESE IDIOTS."
"Buy.com sucks! I ordered a micorSD card on Dec 22, 2006 and Buy.com website shows that it was shipped on Dec 23. However, the shipping status of the package on the Fedex website never changed! It was supposed to be delivered on Dec 27 and I called Fedex, they told me they never received the item. That is very shocking to me. I can not imagine a well known company can be so shameless. This experience is definitely not pleasant. Not to mention the worse ever customer service, the never -get-through customer support number. AVOID BUY.COM!"
