"Poor customer service. Both phone and online. It is now 1/8/07 and I still have not received any feedback as to when or whether or not they intend to credit my account for a return.
The first time I tried to get some information, the outsourced customer service representative refused to give me any information unless I had a package tracking number for that. She had indicated that it was policy, in order to obtain a credit, you had to call buy.com with the package tracking number in order for them to confirm receipt of the package... and then they would put in a request to process the return request. How can that be if they don't even post a customer service phone number on their website, nor do they indicate that this is their policy on their website for returns. When I called back with a tracking number, the representative had indicated that I would be credited in 2 to 3 business days, it has now been nearly a month.
I've had this issue with them before, I think I am just fed up."
"Took my money but not shipping the item, web site still indicates that the item is in stock, two weeks latter. Will not return emails to ****@**** Hours and hours on hold 1-***-***-**** and still no real person.

"They advertised a rebate from MACHSPEED which (I find out after the fact) is known for not honoring its rebates. I bought the item, got shafted by machspeed and contacted buy.com. They promptly emailed back that they would refund the purchase amount. I never received any refund, and never heard from them again despite attempts to contact them. "I purchased a Sony PSP from Buy.com because they were offering $20 off when you use google checkout. I attempted to contact customer service regarding a question I had about a return. I emailed them twice (the second email asked for a phone call). After a week and a half, I still had not heard from them. So I tracked down an actual phone number and called customer service. The guy could not help me and told me that a manager could not help me either. I insisted to speak to a supervisor he told me I would have to call back between 9-5 pacific time. I emailed customer service again that day and asked for another phone call. I called back the next day and the number was busy for 30 minutes. I then sat on hold for a half hour and got disconnected. I then sat on hold for an hour and 30 minutes (I am not exaggerating). The recording was giving me an option to press 1 and leave a message for someone to get back to me. After an hour and a half, I had to press 1 and leave a message because my cell phone battery was about to die. I left a message asking for a phone call. It has been two weeks since I sat on hold for an hour and a half and I still have not received a phone call. I will NEVER shop here again. It's not worth the $20 or whatever you might save. BEWARE of this seller and if you have any expectations for customer service whatsoever, do not do business with this merchant!!!!!"
"I recently shopped at buy.com specifically to take advantage of a $20 off a $50 purchase offer sent to me by Buy.com and Google Checkout. I did my shopping and completed my order. Buy.com acknowledged my order and my credit card was charged. The next day they informed me that one of the items (which was $24.99) was no longer available. They only refunded me the $4.99 as not having the item put my total cost under the $50 benchmark. Because they didn't have an item they allowed me to order they rescinded the $20 coupon they offered me. Please note, as of January 5th, 2007, the item is STILL AVAILABLE on Buy.com's website. I tried to cancel the order, but they told me it was already on its way that to cancel I should refuse the shipment.
The truth was only 1 piece of the remaining two pieces was shipped. For the last week I have been told that the second piece still on the order has been submitted for cancellation but they still may or may not ship it. Repeated attempts to lock down a date at which my card will be credited have not been successful.
I am so disgusted at Buy.com's bungling of my order, and the cancellation of my order as well as their impotence in being able to provide any kind of customer service that I am compelled to write this review and others and NEVER shop with buy.com again.
Even if they are a dollar or two cheaper, I'd rather shop at sites that actually have the items they say they have.

"Terrible customer service. My order never shipped, evne though they charged my credit card. After 2 weeks of no response from buy.com, I called my credit card to dispute the charge & get my $ back. I ordered once from buy.com @ 8 years ago & had a bad experience. I vowed to never use them again, but gave in due to an attractive price. What a mistake, I will never buy anything from buy.com again. The prices might be attractive, but the customer service is bad, bad, bad. Their customer service call center is in Indonesia or India??? "I ordered my item two weeks before Christmas with assurance that it would arrive on time. When it became obvious that it would not arrive on time a week later, I filed a cancellation request. The item shipped anyways and arrived on December 26th. Although it is unopened, Buy.com refuses to accept my return and instead insists that I return it to the manufacturer which will not accept it since I did not buy it from them. This lack of customer service is *completely* unacceptable and I will never purchase another item from buy.com again."
"I never received the package so after spending hours on hold I get an invalid tracking number from them. Now they say the shipping company confirmed that it was delivered. I know I never received it and I have yet to get a working tracking number that says different. Buy.com has NO customer support, its just short emails that create more questions than answers. I had to find their support phone number on a different web site because its not listed anywhere on buy.com. Buy.com support #949-389-2000, I will not need this number anymore because Ill shop somewhere else. "
"I won't bother you with the details; suffice it to say they're very similar to many other examples given here. I went through the same experiences dealing with Buy.com's customer service that many others have stated, only this time Buy.com actually lied to me. They said it would be resolved (refund my money and send a prepaid shipper to pickup the item), I never heard from them again. No refund, no shipper. It was an inexpensive item so it's not worth any more of my time to pursue a resolution (they had me on hold numerous times resulting in a phone call lasting over two hours). I'll chalk it up to a lesson learned -- but -- I hope you can benefit from my dissatisfaction and stay away from Buy.com. It's a shame; they used to be reputable."
"I have ordered several things from Buy.com in the past. This time I ordered a tuner card and I noticed something strange after hitting the submit button for the order. They switched the free shipping to paid shipping at the last minute and I did not catch it in time. They do list a change option button on the page so I sent them an email to change the shipping on the product and they told me there was nothing they could do and I got charged for shipping. I though that was a very shady thing to do so I will not be ordering from Buy.com ever again."
"I order 4 or more items a year from Buy.com. I have no complaints. Each buy I make has been an incredible deal. For instance, I got a no longer made accessory kit for a Fuji Finepix for just a dollar and reasonable shipping. I buy memory modules at unbeleivable prices from Buy.
A large cost cutting seller like Buy is going to generate unhappy customers. Anyone who sells millions of dollars of items a year will have at minimum a few thousand unhappy buyers.
I never buy Christmas gifts from any online seller after December 1st. I would never buy a mail order item from anyone after Dec 7th, if I need it for a gift by Dec 24. No mail service is reliable after the 7th & no large shipping department can get orders out with precise timing. Just common sense."

Placed order on Dec 13th - Site states order shipped Dec 14th - Rec'd order Dec 29th. I rec'd the WRONG ITEM! I called their CS immediately and talked to a rep who said there was nothing they could do because it was over the 14 day time frame.
Frustrated because I had JUST rec'd the order I checked the USPS tracking number and it states the order shipped on the 21st not the 14th like the web site said. I called back and told them I was well within their 14 day time frame because the order shipped on the 21st not the 14th as stated on their site. I told them to go to the USPS and check the tracking code themselves and they refused.
They stated over and over there was nothing they could do - I explained over and over THEY MADE A MISTAKE that they need to correct and still they refused to help me.
Asked to talk to a Supervisor and, no kidding, I hung up after being on hold 69 minutes!
Horrible, Horrible company. Not worth the few dollars saved because of a sale. "
"I will never buy again from Buy.com. It is the second time I Purchase something from them posted as available in 1-2 business days. It has now been a month and I have not received the Item (last time the same thing happened). Not only that, when I called Customer service they are completely unable to help. The best they can do is cancel the order. I have given many options to their supervisor to help with my situation (send me equivalent product for example). The only option I was given was to cancel the order, and go to the website place a new one on another Item.
As far as I am concerned everything about this company shows a lack of professionalism and clearly they do not care about their ratings online.

"Buy.com applied its 'special returns policy' to my 32" HDTV - meaning "returns and exchanges will not be accepted under any circumstance", even though it arrived defective. I wasn't aware of this tactic though now I know they are notorious for it. The more helpful manufacturer (Viewsonic) explained that returns are Buy.com's responsibility, but they hear constantly from Buy.com customers left hanging. The Viewsonic agent even advised me not to use Buy.com again.
What Buy.com doesn't declare up front is that it is a WHOLESALE LIQUIDATOR - this means that all their 'special returns' items may be defective or lack such items as remotes or cables, but cannot be returned to the manufacturer because they are sold 'as is'. This is why buy.com can legally undercut MSRP. I wish I knew all this before I trusted them with my money. Viewsonic on the other hand stepped up and honored their warranty anyway, including shipping both ways from their repair facility."
