"Very unhappy with the customer service at buy.com. I recently ordered an LCD HDTV from them and after 15 days and two attempts at trying to find out what the status of my order was, I was told "Our supplier recently informed us that item #202787960 on your order is
no longer available. As a result, the product has been automatically
cancelled from your order." After receiving this note I emailed customer service to let them know how dissatisified I was, and I got the same form letter back. The thing that really upsets me, is the lack of communication/response, and the fact that the TV is listed on their site again for sale, after they told me they had a supplier issue. I believe, they posted the TV at an incorrect price and cancelled the order instead of standing by the listed price. Not happy with customer service at all. I would recommend seeking another retailer, because if you have any issues, this one is hard to talk with.

"Ordered a SD card and a DVD set with coupons using Google checkout. Shipping was free, amount charged was correct. They shipped in a couple days, and items took a total of a week to arrive, which I consider good for free."
"Terrible company! Said item was in stock with free shipping. Not only did they charge shipping they also charged my card on 11/22 -- they still haven't shipped my hard drive. Avoid at all costs."
"Similar problem with cust.srvc. Kingston 2gb flash drive price drop just after I received mine. New price was 1/2 of what I just paid. Asked for price adjustment and was denied. Their rebates, free shipping, etc. do not make up for their overall lack of caring about customer retention. The don't care if you never make another purchase from them. My advice is to never buy from buy.com."
"Very dissatisfied
Placed order on 11/24.06 for 1 Kingston 2GB CompactFlash Card, sku: 202743374 and 2 Crucial 2GB Compactflash Cards sku: 201992321. All three cards were "in stock" at the time of order, then my orders showed "in warehouse" for a week. Today they display "on order". After the call to Buy.com at 1-***-***-****, they tell me, they have no idea when these cards will be back in stock. After I canceled both orders, I was informed, that cancellation is not final, because order is in the shipping stage, even thou they do not know when these cards will be in stock. At least my visa's customer service had no problem flagging the transactions in case I need to dispute them.
For years i refused to deal with Buy.com, because of their poor service, should have stuck to that rule."
"People should be aware of Buy.com shady pricematch policy:
1. If their own price goes down on the next day after you bougth item - Buy.com will not price match it!!! Don't bother to contact them with such pricematch request!
2. Did you use any coupon or so called "Free Shipping" promotion? Congratulation! If you did - your order automatically is not eligible for price match!
Bottom line: Buy.com price match policy is a fake! If you buy here, do not look for price match opportunity at all!
For more details see my request to pricematch their own price change on the next day and their response:

"Ordered EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB PCI Express x16 Video Card for Total: $579.15 (nearly 100 less than new egg) recieved order 1 dec in perfect condition never opened. No idea if it works but buy.com is only a retailer, not the manufacture anyway so thats where the review ends. If i have a problem evga will cross ship from here. Thanks buy.com for an awsome price. Only con is using goggle checkout i wasnt able to track untill the day before it arrived, but i aint complaining as it arrived in 4 days."
"When I ordered the product (SD Memory), it showed as being instock & would ship in 1-2 days, but it took 5 business days before it was mailed out.
After I finally received the item (2 full weeks later), I filled out the rebate form, only to discover that Buy.com had sent me the wrong memory card--something you can only tell by looking at the UPC. The difference in applicable rebate between what they sent and what I ordered was $7. Since what I ordered and what I received are essentially the same card (the difference being their UPCs and the rebates), I was OK with keeping the incorrect item, if they would just credit me the difference between the rebates.
When I contacted them via email, they said that I could return the item-at my own expense-and they would mail out the correct item. Since it was entirely their fault that I was sent the incorrect item, I didn't think that I should have to pay return shipping and any restocking fees, as well as jeopardize the status of the mail in rebate-which has to be postmarked within 30 days of ordering. Their response was that I would still have to mail the item back at my expense & they would mail me the item I had ordered & I would NOT be issued a rebate--as outlined in their email response: "the rebate will not be applied to your account if a replacement order will be processed to your order".
I then responded with what I expected them to do to rectify the mistake that was entirely their fault:
1) Credit my account the difference between the applicable rebate for the item I ORDERED and the item they sent (it's a $7 difference) and I would keep the incorrect item.
OR
2) Send out a pre-paid mailer so that I can return the item they incorrectly mailed me. I would then return the incorrect item, and expect to receive a FULL refund for the transaction (shipping and handling included).
Their response was as follows: since it was an "RMA" issue, I would be issued a free mailer for a replacement, but I will not get the rebate & that since I qualify for a refund, I will be responsible for shipping. Yeah, I didn't get it either. They were essentially saying two completely contradictory things at the same time. It's obvious that the CSRs just copy and paste form responses, rather than READ their customer complaints.
My requests to SPEAK with an actual person were ignored, & the customer "service" I have received (for a problem that is ENTIRELY their fault) has been less than stellar. I have since disputed the charge with my CC company, and have filed a complaint with the BBB.
Rather than own up to THEIR mistake and honor their own customer service standards, they chose to save $7 or the price of a prepaid shipper and sacrifice my continued patronage.
In the future, no matter HOW good the deal seems, I will NEVER buy from buy.com again.
"
"Goods never received. I recently ordered 4 books from Buy.com, they shipped them, USPS said they delivered them, I never received them. Now whilst this isn't buy.com's fault, it IS their problem.
Buy.com's customer service is appalling : they washed their hands of the whole affair and basically said "tough luck". They then proceeded to direct me to their legal jargon hidden away on one of those pages no-one reads and left it at that.
I have chased them down and have asked Google Checkout to do the same, but they still maintian it's now MY problem.
I will taking this to the BBB.
The company already went bust a couple of yrs ago and with this sort of service is destined to do the same again shortly. Save your money and shop at the online retailers that treat customers as customers.
"
"No longer a good internet retailer, I'd stay away from them at all costs, as they have changed their policies and service to be extremely customer unfriendly. Buy.com has decided to hide their customer service number to make it difficult to contact them. Even if you find it, their customer service has moved overseas and after a wait of up to an hour, you get someone who barely speaks English, and has no authority to fix any problems with your order anyways. If you send an them an email, they may or may not answer depending on your horoscope. Their policies are antiquated as they do not fix broken orders but make you cancel and reorder, at perhaps a higher price since their prices, promotions, and shipping policies change daily.
If they advertise free shipping you may not get it, since the shipping charges on the checkout page defaults to 10% of the item cost, and the free shpping option is hidden on the page. If the free shipping is not selected when you place the order, you are screwed as they will not remove the charge nor will change your order.
If you order through google checkout, you have more problems. They charge your card as soon as the order is placed, blaming the issue on google, although google claims that is the policy set by buy.com.and I know that is true. If the item is backordered, you still have the item sitting on your credit card bill, and may have to pay before it is even received, or have to dispute the charge with your credit card company.
Lastly, if you use a modem, forget about taking advantage of google checkout's promotions, as Buy.com will time out before connecting to google and you cannot complete your order. After repeated contacts about this issue, they can't or won't to fix it.
Taking all into account, this company sucks, and while occasionally having good prices, you can also run into big hassles with them. Shop elsewhere."
"I have bought products from Buy.com for quite a while (3-4 years) and I have never encounter any problem.
Recently I just bought a refurbished HP printer for total $15 (After Rebate). I didn't expect it to be a new printer because it's said refurbished. I was so excited and happy that it was a brand new sealed item (perhaps it's excess inventory items).
I was wondering how come buy.com has such a low rating here. I would say buy.com would be like newegg (in terms of buying experience and yes I had order problems with Newegg). So far, I don't have the need to contact buy.com customer service (great!).
Free shipping on so many items is great (coz I have to pay tax for living in California). Overall, buy.com = no problem.
* UPDATE *
I noticed that they were very slow responding to the order cancellation and orders went through all the time. There are times when some of my orders were canceled and it took them a long time to notify me. Anyway, Buy.com still a good place to shop."
"I ordered HS-890 Bluetooth Headset on 10-07-06, it was in stock and week later 10-14-06 their web product page indicated that they have 97 on hand. On 10/18/06, I should have received headset already or at lease product should have been shipped instead my order status changed to 'on order' and on they web changed to out of stock.
I e-mailed their CS 2 times and get same non senes repond saying "We update our web site once every 24 hours." Hey, I ordered more than a week before it went out of stock!
They finally shiped my order on 11/01/06 and I recieved it on 11/07/06.
This is kind of phishy why? It has a mail in rebate valid 10/01/06 though 10/30/06. "
"I had an MBNA credit card, which is now BOA. They offer a service called ShopSafe, which is essentially a virtual card. It exists for one purchase, with a maximum charge amount and for a limited period. So, if I buy something on-line for $38.45, I can have a credit card issued that is good for one purchase, up to $39.00. If they try to exceed that amount, the card won't work.
Why, you ask, do I mention it. Because the dirtbags at buy.com are the only one who have ever tried to multiple charge a ShopSafe card. I am returning two items tomorrow morning, because they weren't as described and because they are junk.
Rebates are terrible. Buy.com rebates are worse than terrible, they reflect poorly on the buyer, because it seems that only an idiot would do business with them more than once.... and, they have had their once with me.
Agggh!! (Sorry, I needed that)"
"Purchased a Canon LIDE 25 Scanner from Buy.com. I ordered it yesterday, with budget shipping and the google checkout, and it was on my doorstep at 11am this morning, since it just happened to ship out from Irving and I live about 60miles east of there.
I have placed 7 orders there in the past 3 weeks with the Google Checkout options(yay for 20off50 coupons) and have received everything, quickly and as described. Couldn't be happier."
"Horrible company
I am on my 2nd DOA Cavalry Usb drive and it has been my worst purchase experience in 40 years.
Don't buy from this company!"
