"I used to purchased hundreds of items from buy.com each month. What I noticed about buy.com is that they are really inconsistent in their shipping. Half the orders, they will ship in two days, and the other half takes 1 week to 1 month to ship. If you're part of the one-half that ships without a problem, great. If not, prepare for some horrible customer service. I have stopped purchasing from them. Don't bother buying from them just to save some money. Your order might be delayed and it's a real hassle to cancel and deal with them."
"Beware bait and switch tactics with this company. I wish I checked this site before I made a purchase."
"Four words for all buyers...... Buy.com is the worst."
"They cancel my order without any reason. They also shipped me a different product which I returned but never got back the correct product. Never buy from buy.com."
"17" Flatscreen was an email advertisment for $279 with a rebate and a coupon came to $205. I ordered one, and received a notice that my card was charged and the order was sent to the wharehouse. When I got home at 6pm, there was an email that stated: "We were recently informed that item - Samsung SyncMaster 915N - on your
order contained information that was in error.
Because of this, the product has been automatically cancelled from your
order. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. Please note you will not
be charged for this cancelled item." There was no error on my order and they simply decided that to close my order. They didnt even give me an option for a backorder. I will never buy there again."
"Outright fradulent activity. Do not purchase from Buy.com!!!"
"I placed an order for a Samsung LCD monitor and received confirmation both at the time of checkout and in a confirmation email sent by Buy.com. Several hours later when I inquired online on my order status, my account profile showed a "Sent to Warehouse". However, my order summary showed a status of "Cancellation Requested". Additionally, the discount from a $15 coupon was shown but had a status of "Cancelled" and the order amount increased by $15.00 ??? Nothing showed as a problem when using the coupon at checkout. The order receipt from checkout as well as the order confirmation email both show the $15.00 discount as applied to my total.
I spoke with Kerry in sales support and was told first that my order was cancelled by MY request. I explained that I had not cancelled the order and asked for more detail on this cancellation. After putting me on hold to research the problem, Kerry explained to me that the order was cancelled due to unavailability of the monitor from Samsung. I was told that the monitor would possibly be available for purchase in the next couple of days and that I could re-order at that time. No explanation could be given as to why the monitor was not backordered even though they expected its availability in a couple of days. Additionally, the price paid today would not be honored on a future order. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that there was no one that could assist me any further. I was finally transferred to supposedly a supervisor in charge; however, the call was suddenly disconnected after I requested her name. As a followup, I did contact customer support at Samsung and was told that there were no problems with the monitor and the item was available for purchase.
This is obviously not a reputable store and I would caution others to purchase from somewhere else. "
"The worst online store. J/$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$"
"Buy.com has been a great etailer and I have completed many successful and satisfying transactions. However, the latest order has convinced me that they have no regard for customer satisfaction. I placed a small order for $100 on the 26th of July and was due to receive my package via FedEx Ground by the 1st of August. The 1st came and went I did not receive my order. I tracked it via Buy.com and learned that FedEx was holding my order due to damage. After learning this I attempted to find out from Buy.com whether they would be shipping a replacement or give me a refund.
Over the course of the last week, it took a total of 5 emails and 1 phone call in order to learn that I would receive a refund after 6-10 days. The details are ugly and it's a long story that I won't make you suffer through. However, during the course of the last seven days one thing has become clear... Buy.com has outsourced their customer service to some third party that has no concept of customer service. The emails were clearly scripted towards a few key words and never, never, not once, answered any of my questions. My phone call results were nominally better in that Buy.com offered me a refund or a replacement but all of my subsequent questions were answered with silence and then a scripted response. Argh.
The trend to outsource customer service is horrible. Why in the world would you make your customers suffer through an additional bad experience after they have already experienced some sort of problem with their order? Come on.
I for one will never be shopping Buy.com again."
"I placed an order for an LCD monitor (Samsung 915N), and the price was not a price mistake. About 3 hours later, buy.com cancels my order without calling or emailing me with absolutely no explanation whatsoever. I emailed them, but did not receive any response. I then called them and was told that the manufacturer could not provide the monitor, as it was discontinued (Samsung...yeah right). I told them that I wanted the monitor at the advertised price, and to put it on backorder for me. The rep (who I could barely understand) said he had no power. So, I asked for a supervisor. After 20 mins, one came on - Kerry Parker in India. I started explaining to him that I wanted my monitor to be placed on backorder...he had me on mute & was not even listening to me. I called his name out three times before he finally came back on. I asked him what I had just said & HE COULD NOT TELL ME..COULDN'T EVEN COME CLOSE! I demanded that he apologize & he finally admitted that he was not listening to me & apologized. Wow, thanks buy.com. IMHO -> (1) Lied about the monitor being for sale at that price...it was just a ploy to get people to buy other things. (2) Customer Service scrapes the bottom of the trash can (The type of can that is filled with nasty fish guts in the middle of summer, with only weekly trash pick-up). I despise Buy.com now. I will never buy ANYTHING from them EVER. AND...I SPEND A LOT OF $$ ON TOYS!! Guess what...I'm sticking with reputable businesses...NEWEGG.COM IS #1 IN MY BOOK! Slightly more expensive than the cheapest, but by far the most professional & respectful. They will actually listen to you."
"i just placed the order this afternoon, and two hours later it got cancelled for no reason. i am so upset and angry that they just send the email saying that the order is cancelled and offer no explanation or anything"
"IF YOU DO NOT STAND BY YOUR ADVERTISEMENTS DON'T ADVERTISE AT ALL AND DON'T BS YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! I finally find a nice LCD for a good price and its cancelled with no explanation?? Unacceptable with todays e-tailer competition."
"Confirmed order than 2 hours later cancelled order with no explanation. Haven't bought anything from Buy.com in 5 years knowing their first hand shady actions. Couldn't pass up....now I remember why I stopped buying from them."
"Order confirmed at 1pm and cancelled at 3pm. Called customer service. Got no help. Said that that it is unfortunate that their site isnt updated as fast as the orders were going, (once every day). Told me that eventually the cancellation would be changed on my card within 3 days. This is unacceptable as a retailer and the customer service was a dead end. Also I could barely understand the rep cause they were Indian. Had a horrible accent."
"Order confirmed by email @ 2:09 PM. Order cancelled by email @ 3:30. No explaination given by Buy.com. Poor customer service, in my opinion.
Update on 8/17/05 As a conccession, Buy.com issued a $10.00 credit to my account. That removes some of the sting."
