Later I decided to replace the 2nd item.
Buy.com customer service told me I couldn't just change the items, and I need to cancel the whole order and place an new order, and both items are back-ordered.
So I asked them to cancel the whole order and placed an different order online.
But later I found only one item was cancelled, the other one already shippied.
I feel their online ordering system is lousy and not accuracy and the customer service is not helpful. "
"Tried to order a 512MB CF card. While playing with shipping options (before confirming the purchase), the site said I needed to log in (again). When I did my shopping cart was empty. So I went through the process again, selected a shipping option and confirmed the purchase of one card.
Later that day I received TWO confirmation emails, for two separate purchase transactions! I immediately logged back in and tried to cancel one, but after two days both shipped.
When they arrived yesterday I refused to accept one of them (per customer service instructions). If I don't see a charge-back on my credit card within a week I will formally dispute the charges.
I used to have a very high opinion of buy.com, but this experience has made me reconsider.
(update 8/15/2005) 8 days after I refused delivery I received an email indicating I would receive credit. a couple of days later a credit for the full amount of the incorrect item appeared on my credit card."
"Over the many years that I have been ordering from Buy.com I have always had excellent experiences. And so it was with my latest order; ordered on July 7, it was shipped on July 7, I received it on July 9. That's pretty darn good, considering the shipping was FREE! "In short, Buy.com shipped a damaged dvd to me, but will not replace the product since the original price has increased. They want me to cancel the order and reorder.

1. On April 12, 2005, I purchased a dvd from buy.com, which arrived cracked. The RMA process was easy and I sent the dvd back.
2. I was then notified the product was on back order.
3. After several weeks, I checked buy.com's website to see if the product was in stock, and the website said yes even though the status of my order still remained back ordered.
4. I emailed and called buy.com with the inquiry of what the real status was and got repeated responses that the item was out of stock. (The CSR's sound offshore and answers seem scripted.)
5. Finally, I just ordered another dvd to prove to buy.com that the item was really in stock and got the order fulfilled in 2 days.
6. When I called to get the difference back between the current price and what I originally purchased the dvd for, I was told that the order was cancelled by the manufacturer because of the price increase. (since when was this possible when buy.com holds the inventory).
7. As of today, the website still says my order is on back order and every time I call, I am told to cancel my original order."
