"Order was placed May 08 for a stick of Viking DDR, and quickly marked as sent to the warehouse
2. E-mail received on May 12 about item being backordered and that I could cancel
3. I request the order canceled on May 15
4. May 18 the order ships anyway, despite the request to cancel being accepted three days earlier!!!
5. May 23 the order arrives poorly packed... the loose stick of DDR was in an antistatic bag, just tossed into a massive envelope... A stick on a separate order arrived the same way, but was dead on arrival.
To top things off... the rebate which was the only reason worth ordering these, was rejected!!!"
"I attempted to purchase some cables from buy.com that were advertised on sale with a rebate and they were also advertised as in stock. Well they never came and when i contacted customer service, they had no intentions in delivering me the cables at the advertised price since the rebates would no longer be valid by the time my order might arrive. I am not comfortable ordering items that have rebates from this store again. Recommend stay away."

"Ordered an Ipod Shuffle on June 24th. The item shipped the 28th and was received on July 6th. Overall am somewhat satisfied. The item is great but Buy.com's method of shipping leaves a lot to be desired. I was provided a tracking number that did not show up in the USPS system until 3 days later (not unusual by USPS standards). Then, I checked the number and was told it had been accepted by someone in a slightly different ZIP code! 5 days later the item arrives in my mailbox.
In summary, the item was great, the price was good (I saved about $18 over retail) BUT it was not worth all the wait and hassle waiting and wondering if the USPS was ever going to deliver it. Yes, shipping was free but I would have paid a little more for getting it sooner. Change your shipping carrier (or use USPS Priority 2-3 days shipping) and the buying experience would be much better.
Would I buy from them again? Yes, for the right price and then I would not expect it for a while. I've been spoiled by Newegg (they use Fedex and their tracking is accurate and actually works)."

They are crediting me the 8.00 and hopefully will credit me the Fed Ex fee since overnight became 4 days. It took too much threatening and contacting and arguing to get to this point. Never again but I wanted to tell all details in order to have this be an honest review.

Bought a heart Rate Monitor watch with one day shipping and a 10% coupon. In reading the ship policy further I thought perhaps I misunderstood and it would be 3-5 days plus the 1 and thought perhaps I'd cancel it.
As soon as I did, it said it accepted my "request" to cancel. Then it cancelled the 10% and shipped the watch. Emails have by and large been ignored or form pasted rehash of corporate policies without any "thinking" about how dumb this is. I could see a cancel on the coupon on other shopping but since the watch was sent, keep the coupon on it. Fed Ex failed to deliver when said but they want to credit the fee...guess to who? Buy.com...imagine me trying to collect that...Place is a sham if you ask me.
Considering the reviews here I guess I am lucky to escape with a 8.00 loss.

"Buy.Com states if you apply for a Buy.com Visa card you will get a $30 credit on your first order. I did that and got the card within 2 weeks. I immediately tried to use it on a $49 order and they turned the $30 credit down. They said I needed to have a larger order after I sent an e-mail to them. So I tried it on a $300 order and they turned the $30 credit down again. I wrote Chase Visa and complained to no avail. I bought the item from Buy.com using another card. I spend about $15.000 yearly on online purchases.
My opinion of Buy.com is not good at this point. I doubt I will ever use them again.
Update 7/24/05 After many letters Buy.Com or Chase Visa has yet to respond to me. Beware of this company! "
"I ordered a bundle from them and they billed me for the whole bundle and shipped one piece. I have sent emails to them since for over a week and only get an automated response. I guess it will be difficult for them to have a lower rating than 2.96 but they are heading there.
I wish Newegg sold everything.

"This is at least my 5th times with buy.com. I have not had any issue with them. They always send me the order confirmation and tracking number, and never call me to up sell. I would certainly buy from them again since their prices are always good. "
"Been a loyal customer for over 2 years. Purchased an item on 06/06/05. Didn't ship my product for 2 weeks because it was out of stock. Monitored my item everyday on their site, and never mentioned that the item was out of stock. I cancelled my order, and instead of taking 1 business day to cancel an item as they promised, it took them 4 business days to do so. I decided to give them a second chance by ordering another item on 06/20/05. I still encounter the same issue. Emailed the customer service. Instead of taking 24 hours to reply me as they have already promised, it took them 4 to 5 days to reply! I was unhappy with their reply. Apparently all their replies are the same. They have this piece of paper/document with paragraphs to reply in certain situation and they just copied and paste it whenever appropriate. Eventually I cancelled this second item. I emailed them to thank them for their service and I am looking for other place to shop. Can't believe it took me ONE MONTH to get something I want from ONE ONLINE RETAILER! Extremely dissatisfied. Probably will never shop there anymore."
"I have made several purchases through this store over the years and have been satisfied with every transaction.
My latest purchase through Buy.com was for a Brother MFC-210c All-in-One printer. Ordered on 06/27/05. Received order confirmation and approximate shipping date by email the same day. Received tracking number the next day and shipment arrived at my home on 06/30/05. Product arrived in excellent condition by FedEx. From start to finish, this transaction only took 4 days.
I shopped for this particular printer strictly on price and was pleased to find that Buy.com was the best deal, including a rebate for the product and free shipping.

I placed an order for 2 items, a CD and a SD memory card, to be delivered by second day air service. For two days after the order was placed the order status indicated "processing". Realizing this was a useless bit of information as the explanation does not indicate the true status (backordered, in transit to warehouse, etc.), and I had no idea when it would be shipped, I attempted to cancel the order through their system. I paid the extra for delivery since I was leaving town.
Finally after on the third day the first portion of the order was shipped and the order status suggested it would arrive after I left. The UPS order tracking number still does not give status on that portion of the order as it indicates Buy.com did not provide some information.
Two days after I submitted an order to cancel the order through Buy.com's system, the order was shipped. At this point, I have no idea if I will find the order on my doorstep or if it would have been stolen.
When I sent an email complaint to Buy.com, the only way to get in touch with them as they have no phone number to call, I received a stock reply about their return policy. There was no indication of their reps even having read the email. I sent them a further reply suggesting the actually READ the email and detailed the problem again.
Unfortunately, if the package is missing I will be forced to contest the charge. To refer to a consumer reporters term, this "customer no-service" is rediculous! Buy.com use to be a reasonably good outfit, but I am unsure if they have gotten too big, or too uncaring about what their customers think. Either way, I will have to reconsider EVER doing business with them again."

"Ordered an mp3 player. Says it was in stock and would ship in 1 to 2 business days. I called around 8:00 p.m. to check on the order and see if everything was going through smoothly. Some Indian guy told me it was on backorder and could be back in "1, 2, 3, or 7 days (no set time)". I went online and canceled the order after reading some of these ratings. A few hours later, I got an email saying that the order was shipped out. I can't decide whether to be mad or excited. This is my second time doing business with them and I will in the future."
