"I tried to sign up SBC DSL service from Buy.com on OCTOBER 15, 2004. Yeah, that is right, almost two months ago and I STILL HAVN'T RECEIVE MY DSL KIT YET! I tried to cancel the order one month after I havn't received my order. My order status changed from SENT TO WAREHOUSE to CANCELLATION REQUESTED and it stayed like that ever since. I wrote to Buy.com three times. First two times they kept one saying it will take 4-7 days to cancel my order. My last written cancellation request was about two weeks ago and they didn't reply to me after all. Damn scumbags, I will NEVER order from this crooked company again.
What kind of company wouldn't SHIP your order for over two months and REFUSE to let you CANCEL your unshipped order?

"I placed my order on 11/08/04. The item was shipped by FEDEX Ground on 11/10 never actually arrived and finally made it back to their warehouse on 11/15/04. I called their completely worthless customer service on 11/28/04. First they claimed I "declined" the package. Then they claimed it was delivered and signed for, even though it was signed for and delivered to their warehouse. Their customer service is in India and they make no effort to resolve your issue and simply read from a script. If your question is outside the scope of the script they have no idea what you are talking about and they simply repeat the script over and over. It is now 12/7/04 and I have no item and no refund. They keep claiming the package was deliverd and signed for even though it was their warehouse which originally shipped the item that ended up signing for it. I will never use this company again! Avoid at all costs!!"
"On Dec. 1, I ordered two books from Buy.com as they came in a few dollars cheaper than Amazon.com. My mistake.
The address verification on my credit card info caused a mismatch security error. I received an e-mail informing me of this and I immediatly checked with my CC company and emailed Buy.com the correct information along with the contact info for my credit card. The next day, Dec. 2, the order was still processing. On Dec. 3 I called their customer service toll-free number and got one of their Indian subcontractors who was very nice but could not tell me anything and only managed to waste my time.
On Dec. 4 the order status was still processing. I sent another email to customer service asking when my order expected to ship and got an automated reply. This was a bad sign for me, and and I looked up Buy.com ratings online to find mixed reviews...It looks like if their suppliers have ample stock and there is no problems or irregularities with an order, Buy.com gets rave reviews.
But this is not a perfect world and there always something that likely needs to be addressed. When this customer service is needed, Buy.com is among the WORST of all retailers that I have dealt with.
Yesterday on the 5th I checked my order at Buy.com and it still showed processing so I entered a cancellation request and reordered at Amazon. This morning I received a shipment notification from Amazon while my Buy.com cancellation went un-acknowledged and still pending.
I advise against shopping with Buy.com. If another retailer comes in a few dollars more, it is worth the peace of mind if additional service is needed (which more likely than not will be needed).

"bought an acer 1912b 19" lcd from them. the price is excellent but it took a long time to get to me. spends 2-3 days in the warehouse, I used free shipping that took 5 days I think. so I got it more than a week later. If you are buying with price in mind then it's excellent, but if you need something quick, that's what the local store is for. The item arrived in perfect condition, no complaints. I spent $360 total, referred by WhoSave com, I will use buy.com again, as I have mnay times before. "

"I have purchased a variety of things (probably 7 - 10 items)from buy.com over the last couple years. Never once did I expirience a problem with them.

"I work for a major Federal Agency and ordered an HP Laserjet 2300D for our office. This item was listed as "in stock" on their web page when I ordered. After waiting two weeks and hearing nothing I called their customer support. Someone from India answered and read from a script. "item is backordered, we have no idea when it will ship". After another two weeks of waiting I called and insisted on talking to someone with authority. I had found the IDENTICAL printer on their webpage under a different sku. The only problem....it was $200 more. These printers have the EXACT same HP part number listed on buy.com's webpage(s). Miraculously the printer for $200 more was "in stock", but the one for $200 less was now "on backorder". I asked them to ship me one that was in stock since it was exactly the same printer. Their reply was "NO, this printer is $200 more!...but if you cancel your order and re-order under the different sku we'll gladly ship you one...as they are "IN STOCK". I ask you...is this not a bait and switch tactic? I have since filed a complaint with the BBB. Buy.com actually answered my complaint, with the same line they used on the phone, "cancel your existing order and re-order the printer for $200 more". I make several large IT purchases for the agency I work for and trust me I will NEVER do business with this company again and I will do everything in my power to have Buy.com taken off of any approved Government sellers list. Everyone I've talked to, with the exception of the receptionist at their non-tollfree number, has been extremely rude and unhelpful. The California States Attorneys office should seriously look into this places business practices. I also can't believe the BBB allows their logo to be displayed on Buy.com's webpage. I urge anyone out there, do NOT use this company. It's now December 2nd and we still haven't received our printer that's "on backorder". I have a feeling it will be on backorder FOREVER!!"
"I purchased a game on the Thursday Nov 18. Had a good price, and used a $5 off coupon code to make it even better. Decided the very next day that I didn't want the product and cancelled. Said that it was "Sent to warehouse." Monday I called and verified to them that I wanted it cancelled and they put in another request. Tuesday it still said "sent to warehouse." Then Tuesday night it said completed. Wednesday it finally shipped. They had 4 days to cancel and they didn't. To add salt in the wound, they CANCELLED MY COUPON! So I got charge full price. Monkees can run this company better. First and LAST purchased from them. Word of advice, make sure you want whatever you buy from them, because there is NO chance of cancelling. Fast shipping after it actually gets shipped."
"Gotta love those folks at buy.com! Ordered a Midland radio, model Model GXT300VP1. Buy.com rebate was denied by Niagara Falls, NY. They informed me that the UPC symbol or proof-of-purchase tab I submitted was not valid for this promotion. I sent in the UPC code that was on the package from buy.com. Do not rely on these rebates. But the good news is that buy.com credited my account for the price of the rebate.

"I've ordered quite a few things from Buy.com and have been quite happy with them.
I once ordered a video card but could not use it on my computer. So, I asked for an RMA label and asked my wife to ship it back. She kept the box in her trunk almost a month! However, when the box was finally shipped back, I got an email saying how much they appreciated my business and that the return will be credited back to my credit card.
It definitely will be one of my favorite sites for purchase."
"I ordered a Creative Nomad Zen 30gb mp3 player on 11/17. All seemed to be going well: smooth payment transactions, promptly shipped, and delivered on schedule. HOWEVER, the delivered product was gone. The box arrived OPENED with nothing but a copy of the invoice and some brown paper inside. Checking the tracking service, it seems as though the company directly affiliated to buy.com, APX, was the one who had posession of my product during the removal (there is USPS tape stating that the package was damaged upon receival. Anyway, I filed an incomplete shipment claim but it will take 15 business days. That's 3 weeks. 3 weeks is when my rebate is due. The customer service person wasn't very helpful: he just directed me to the online help sections (I would personally like some sense of confidence by talking to a representative). I believe that such delivery issues have been frequent with buy.com lately. I would not buy from this company again."
